Ganz named Big 12 offensive player of the week

Irving, Texas - Joe Ganz (Nebraska), Aqib Talib (Kansas), and DeMarco Murray (Oklahoma) have been named Big 12 Conference Players of the Week as selected by a media panel. Ganz (offense), Talib (defense), and Murray (special teams) are all recognized for the first time.

 

Offensive Player of the Week

Joe Ganz, Jr, QB, Nebraska (Palos Heights, Ill.)

In his second career start in as many weeks, Joe Ganz set Nebraska single-game records for passing yards, touchdown throws, and total offense in the Huskers 73-31 win over Kansas State. Ganz connected on 30 of 40 attempts for 510 yards and seven touchdowns, while also generating 528 yards of offense.

 

Defensive Player of the Week

Aqib Talib, Jr, CB, Kansas (Richardson, Texas)

Aqib Talib registered a career-high tying nine tackles, including one for loss, an interception, and a pass break up in Kansas' 43-28 win at Oklahoma State. His fourth quarter interception and 17-yard return led to a KU field goal and its final points of the game.

 

Special Teams Player of the Week

DeMarco Murray, Fr, KR, Oklahoma (Las Vegas, Nev.)

DeMarco Murray totaled 129 yards on three kickoff returns, including a 91-yarder for touchdown, in helping to lead Oklahoma to a 52-21 triumph over Baylor. His touchdown return was the eighth-longest in OU history and was one of four TDs he scored in the game.
