Great daily updates from OWH.

Coach Bo Pelini was grumpy and in no mood to talk about it today after the Huskers’ first of two practices. NU worked out in half pads before a large group of ex-players that included legends Tommie Frazier and Johnny Rodgers on a cool morning at Memorial Stadium.

Expect this afternoon to get more heated.

“We just have to get better,” Pelini said. “We’re doing some good things, but the consistency isn’t there on either side of the ball.”

NU had planned to break from practice Sunday, but those plans are on hold.

“We’ll see if they earn that day off,” Pelini said.

It's still early in fall camp so no reason to get excited. But Pelini's comment on whether or not these guys get a day off was awsome. Holding these players to a standard now and not down the road is great to see.

I can't say I'm surprised. I gotta say, though, it's nice to hear it straight for a change. After getting blown out for the fifth time in a row you kind of got used to hearing things like, "I did an excellent job in all areas." But it's very, very early in this team's development. I think we'll have enough in the tank to beat our first three opponents. After that the consistency had better be there because VA Tech's defense rarely takes a day off.
