Kansas State running back Leon Patton was arrested by the Riley County Police Department on Thursday at approximately 3 p.m. on a warrant for felony child abuse. The warrant stems from an an incident that took place on or about July 15, 2008 in Manhattan, Kan. The victim is 4-month-old Leon Patton Jr., who was born on May 8.

A court date has yet to be set.

The arrest warrant stated that Patton "feloniously and intentionally shook the child."

K-State coach Ron Prince announced Thursday that Patton has been dismissed from the team.

Patton is currently being held in the Riley County Jail on $30,000 bond. The victim remains in foster care after receiving medical attention at Mercy Regional Health Center and in the Kansas City area, sources told GoPowercat.com.

Patton, a junior who has rushed for 999 yards during his two-year career at Kansas State, was already under suspension for an arrest on July 7 for two outstanding warrants for theft and a failure to appear charge.

The charge against Patton is a severity level 5 person felony according to K.S.A. 21-4704. If Patton would be convicted and has two or less misdemeanors on his record, the presumed sentence is 34 to 38 months. If Patton is found guilty, the judge in the case would have the option of sending Patton to prison or putting him on probation.

Earlier this summer, Patton's personal Web page on myspace.com included a picture of the child with the words, "NO WORRIES...GOD IS WATCHING OVER HIM!!!" next to the photo.

If the bastard did in fact abuse this child, I hope he rots in f'ing hell
