Isn't this the same sh#t we tried last year?

We didn't even sniff the backfield tonight after the first quarter.

Right on, that's exactly what it felt like. Did Chase even get hit?

No. How pathetic is that? We didn't prevent them from scoring on a drive until the 4th quarter when Gabbert was in.

Actually Daniel was hit a few times after he threw the ball, but never sacked.

We got penalized for the one good hit we got on him.

I was about to start a thread about this.

Why the hell were we running a 3 man defensive front?!?

That's Cosgrove crap! We did that exact same thing last year, and what happened? We got smoked and never got to Booger!

I was really disappointed in our defensive scheme, I thought we had something planned better than that.

Thats true, he did get pressure and sacked once. IMO, we got some halfway decent pressure, but Daniel just sits really deep in that shotgun. A lot of teams have had trouble pressuring him over the past couple seasons(besides OU lol)

What would you do to defend the Spread Offense? I would mix it up more defensively I think. One thing that I would do is have six guys close to the line of scrimmage and tell them to really knock the guys going out for passes off their routes and make them pay before they get into their route. That would give the rushers time to get to the QB and you would possibly tire out the WR's and RB's a little more. Too many times I see players just get off the line of scrimmage too easily and it is much easier for a passing team to get into the rhythm when they aren't knocked off their route from the start. That would be something I would try at least for a series to see if it worked.

Any other ideas?

There isn't a defensive scheme out there that's going to stop this offense. Toughness, tackling and speed will.

As far as the scheme. I didn't mind it one bit. It wouldn't have mattered one sh#t what scheme we came out with. You have to tackle, take good angles, and be tough. We were a little tough but zero on the other two.

Schemes aren't nearly as important as the players. We need athletes. Not walk-ons from Bellevue, NE....
