Not a bad place to start when handing out honors. The Kansas City Star selected Texas quarterback Colt McCoy and Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh as its top offensive and defensive players, and picked Kansas State running back Daniel Thomas and Missouri defensive end Aldon Smith as the top newcomers. The top coach? The man with the perfect record, Texas’ Mack Brown. Defensive newcomer Aldon Smith, Missouri, Fr. He became a sack machine in his redshirt freshman season. Smith, from Raytown, has matched Justin Smith’s school record with 11 sacks. He ranks 10th nationally in that department and is 11th in tackles for loss, and no other freshman is close. Defensive player Ndamukong Suh, Nebraska, Sr. He’s a defensive tackle with outside linebacker quickness. Offenses game plan around Suh, who ranks among the league’s top 10 in sacks and passes defended. He could be the overall No. 1 selection in April’s NFL draft, and he’ll become Nebraska’s first consensus All-American in nearly a decade. Coach Mack Brown, Texas Sure, the Longhorns were the favorites entering this season. But Brown has put together the most successful regular season of his career and stands one victory away from playing for the national championship for the second time in five years. Offensive player Colt McCoy, Texas, Sr. Early on he scuffled, at least by his lofty standards. But over the season’s second half, McCoy returned to the top of his game and may now be the Heisman Trophy favorite. Along the way, he set the NCAA record for most career victories by a starting quarterback (44 and counting), and he now chases a national championship. Offensive newcomer Daniel Thomas, Kansas State, Jr. He played quarterback at Northwest Mississippi Community College, became a running back for the Wildcats and had an impact at both positions. Thomas leads the Big 12 in rushing at 105.4 yards per game, with some of that coming from the wildcat formation. He also tossed a touchdown pass. Quote Link to comment
JTrain
Pleasantly surprised to see Prince first team. Quote Link to comment
Vince from ShamWOW
Crick being second team is shocking. It's too bad bad he lost out to McCoy's preseason hype. Nice representation of Huskers. Congrats guys! Quote Link to comment

TrumanBD
Did they make a correction, or what's going on? Crick is one of five DL on the First Team: [ knapplc, I think you are confused. The KC Star has their own All-big 12 team different than the one put out by the conference. This will also help explain your confusion about whether Crick is 1st or 2nd team in the other thread. He is first team in the official list from the conference, but 2nd in the KC star's team Quote Link to comment

jkstlrnu1
Its just nice to see the 'Skers gettin some love again on these all-conference teams. It is well deserved. Suh is gonna need a warehouse to put all his trophies in by the end of the year. Congrats to Prince & Crick. This is the beginning of a very special run in the history of NU football Quote Link to comment
Yellowjacketfan
Why is Asante not on there. Every time I watch he is laying the wood to people. He'll be a good pro. Quote Link to comment
Captain K
Prince better be a first team DB. If not he should be playing on offense. He probably should be anyway. I found out what all of the hype was about, regarding his skill with the ball in his hands, on that int return against OU. Quote Link to comment
