Nexus
These are the projected numbers told to various Junior Day visitors by the staff. QB = 2 RB = 2 (1 Thumper, 1 Fast) WR = 3 OL = 4 As you can see, we're one player shy of meeting our OL quota for 2011. That number could change if two highly ranked players want N. I'm sure the staff will make room for those types of players. Nothing has been said about the Defensive numbers yet. Quote Link to comment
Husker N KC
I was thinking about our numbers last night and felt this was about where we would be at. I thought we may take an extra WR or OL if they are the right guy (Westerman, Daniels). What are everyone's thoughts on D? I would say we need 2 DL, 2 LB, 3 DB, and 2 S. Looking at those numbers though that would leave a few scholarships to go out and get guys that they really felt would be difference makers or take chances on diamonds in the rough. The numbers I came up with are based solely on the guys I can think of who will graduate so let me know what you think. Quote Link to comment

I think we try to take at least 2 true CB's in this class (I think of DB as hybrid guys, who can play either CB or S). Also, on the DL, the number really depends on where the coaches think this years recruits will move. If some of the DE's project to move inside then DE will be another area of emphasis this recruiting class. If they stay at DE, then DT's will be an emphasis. I could also see up to 3 LB's this year too. What's the scholly count at for 2010? I know it'll change, just curious where it's at now. Quote Link to comment

girlknowsfootball
Looking at the depth chart this is my prediction... 2 QB (Turner + another for added depth, we lose Lee & Washington this year) 2 RB (speedster/thumper) 4 OL (we'll get another great one here) 3 WR (we lose Paul, we need more competition, ball catching skills, and speed here) 2 TE (we're losing 2 good ones this year... McNeill, Young and only brought in one Juco last year, we struggle to get quality wr but make up for that in track record of great pass catching and blocking TE) 13 Offensive Players 2 DE (Because Bo likes to keep depth here and we took 1 in 2009, Cotton could become a Tackle, Allen is leaving this year) 2 DT (Again, Bo likes depth, right now we have Crick, Steinkuhler, Moore, Guy, Rome with potential playing, Crick and Moore are Jr's) 2 LB (we've got a lot of okay guys here but other than Martin and David we lack the "it" factor... they'll bring in 2 flyers here) 1 S/LB hybrid (we need one of these fast guys thats a big safety/small linebacker) 2 S (need to build up more quality depth here... cooper and Jackson will help, marsh is a toss up, look for 2 great ones this year) 2 CB (we always need corners in this defense, look for at least 2 here if not 3) 11 Defensive Players 1 K/P (Henery & Kunalic leave this year, Dann is coming in but we need a good scholie Kicker/Punter, with a scholie we can get one of the best in the country) TOTAL OF 25 PLAYERS Quote Link to comment

Husker N KC
Pelini and other members of the staff have stated numerous times that their normal philosophy on specialists (long snappers, kickers, punters) is to bring in walk ons and have them work into a schollie (Henery). I doubt they change that, but it is possible with more to give this year. However I would like to see them keep that philosophy (its been working) and use it for another quality guy elsewhere or give it to a deserving walk on already on th team. Quote Link to comment

huskertim
I suspect the numbers will be hard to pin down this year, obviouly the staff feels it needs OL and the RB and WR positions need to add quality depth, but I'm seeing alot of bodies at every position on the D that could contribute this year and beyond. I would be suprised if the Brothers Pelini don't hold out for guys that very specifically fit their philosiphy regardless of positional need. Quote Link to comment
