Blackshirt316
Seriously doubt it. It doesn't fit Osborne's scheduling model at all. Osborne's scheduling model is: 0ne Marquee OOC game per year. -Already have one for 2011 One OOC road game per year (maximum): Already have an OOC road game for 2011 (and for each year all the way through the 2016 season, making a home/away series also unlikely) One "mid/low-level" BCS opponent: LSU Doesn't qualify One "high/mid-level" non BCS opponent: LSU Doesn't qualify One "lower-level" non BCS opponent: LSU Doesn't qualify Also Osborne has said he doesn't see a point where scheduling a neutral site game makes sense for Nebraska. Teams that schedule neutral site games are typically teams that play in smaller venues than a neutral site stadium holds and want to make an increased profit from a marquee matchup or struggle to sell out home games on the non conference schedule.. Nebraska is neither. We have sold out an 80k seat stadium no matter who the opponent is for 50 years straight, there's no reason to travel anywhere else to play our games unless it's for a home/away series with another marquee program. GBRsal
A rumor that's been circulating down here in Baton Rouge is that LSU is trying to schedule a strong non-conference opponent to open the 2011 season. According to what I've heard, many LSU execs are pushing for Nebraska, since the Tigers have never beaten the Huskers and they feel that 2011 would be the year to do it. The game would be played at a neutral NFL site, most likely Dallas. Oregon is also a strong possibility to be LSU's opponent. Ha! their offense is worse than ours! we'd beat them like a rented mule. Husker_x
It would be one of the marquee non-con games of the year. I'm for it. Quote Link to comment
huzkerbob
If NU isn't looking to add Boise St on short notice, why on earth would they decide to schedule LSU? NU already has their non-con schedule set for 2011 and haven't yet worked out their transition into the Big10. So how exactly will NU benefit from making an already demanding schedule even more difficult? The "we'll play anyone any time" mantra sounds great, but the truth is Nebraska has much larger fish to fry in 2011. And since NU certainly won't be hurting for attention with their move to the Big10, maybe LSU should try filling the holes in their schedule with a team that actually needs the exposure. I would expect us to add a easy game in that spot since we already have the BCS opponent and 2 decent non-bcs opponents. I would except to add gimme game so to speak. Quote Link to comment
HUSKER 37
How can ANY fan want us to pass up a chance to beat up on a SEC team? We'd be like the new cat bringing a dead mouse to the folks that rescued us from the pound and laying it at their feets. Quote Link to comment
