zoogs
Thanks jliehr! A few answers that stood out to me from Taylor's interview: How hard have you had to work just to refine your skills at QB? I don't think I had to work very hard to get to this point on throwing ability (couldn't hear the question finish before he answered) I've had it since my senior year in HS, i've always been able to throw the ball really well and just no one's been able to really see it -- (on pressure the past month; if he's had less because he hasn't had to talk to the media) I wasn't under a ton of pressure the past month, just because I haven't had to talk to the media, like I am now. Heh. Is it a challenge to rotate 2 QBs in a game? At some point it is because at some point, you have to get to know the offense (on running out to the crowd) I got chills; I was glad the fans wanted me to start. Quote Link to comment
huskers17
i love Martinez's interview...he comes across as really confident/cocky to me though. as long as you back it up on the field (and he did tonight) then by all means, believe in yourself man. i just liked his response when asked how hard he had to work to become a better QB (i'm assuming the reporter meant throwing-wise)...taylor said not hard at all, and he's always been a good thrower just no one has been able to see it...wow lol he's going to be a fun one for the next few years Quote Link to comment

I'm going to reserve judgement on him until he faces some tougher competition. If he continues to back up his talk with on the field results, then I could care less how cocky he is. Some people are just driven by that belief in themselves, and they tend to come off as cocky individuals. Quote Link to comment
BIGREDIOWAN
He may have put on a show, but if he's saying he didn't have to work that hard to get to where he's at............I've got a problem with that. Kid better be putting in the work and not take this for granted. He's got a gift, but if he's not trying lazyness is like a cancer........it'll creep up on him. Quote Link to comment

I agree, he's going to have to earn the right to be that way in the long run, and that attitude certainly will rub some people the wrong way after a tough loss...but for now, he's a 19 year old who just played his first college game and scored 3 TDs while making some incredible runs. If he wants to be a little bit cocky right now, I have no problem with that. He just better make sure that he keeps putting in the hard work to get this team where it needs to be offensively. Oh, and he needs to keep throwing the bones when he scores, cause that was cool haha. Quote Link to comment

I love confidence, but I think it's a bit premature to be cocky after your first college start against a completely overmatched opponent. Quote Link to comment

I don't think he was saying it was easy to become the starter or anything like that...the question was in reference to his throwing ability. They asked him how hard he had to work to improve that aspect of his game...basically he was just saying that he's always had the throwing ability but no one ever noticed it...whether he's right or not who knows. However, I don't think he was saying it was a cakewalk to the starting spot. Quote Link to comment
