Gameday Morning!!!

Game day morning to everybody! I just got done getting the coals ready in the smoker and put a 9-lb marinated pork loin on for the game. Someone had asked about favorite game day beverage...so...what do you have cooking for the game???

 

We have about a dozen people coming over and we'll be munchin' on:

-Smoked Pork Loin (marinated in beer, apple juice, maple syrup and some spices...then put a dry rub on)

-Bacon-wrapped Tater Tots (it was on Man v Food last week, have to try it)

-Little Smokies

-Sour Cream & Corn Dip

-Nacho Dip (red tortillas of course)

-Home-made Cole Slaw

-Veggies and other 'munchies'

 

Hopefully somebody is bringing some cookies or something to counter the amount of sodium about to be consumed!!!

We're not putting in that kind of effort. Just steaks, burgers, and brats for us. Going to start the --back yard-- tailgaiting at 11.

I will eat at the dining facility, Since I have been up since 5am I will take a nap when I get off work around 9pm and up at midnight to watch the Huskers roll.

I am amazed I actually got 8 hours of sleep last night! I wish I could be inside the Cornhusker locker room this afternoon before the game. Anybody else feel like we're gonna see the Players do the tunnel walk, "If they show it" grasping hands? Memorial Stadium is gonna be electric today. Texas A&M has the 12th Man, but Nebraska has over 85,000 and a uncountable amount of Cornhusker Fans who will be watching the game on TV's across the globe. Win the game, and it's not something worth going to 72nd and Dodge over, but I feel like it's worth honking our horns over (no pun intended). There is no greater memories of the big games than remembering breaking bread, or pot luck or BBQ or being at a Bar and Grill with Friends and Family. It's amazing when Nebraska scores and you can run around to tables of people you don't even know and can high five each other. Nebraska Football Baby, it's not just a game, it's a way of life.

We have two tri-tips marinating right now. We will be BBQing those along with some garlic roasted potatoes (also on the BBQ) and whatever else my wife decided to buy (since I really only care about the meat and potatoes). We will have a total of 13 people here this afternoon! My oldest son is already running around in a NU shirt and I am already weaing my jersey.

By law any food that's uninteresting to begin with suddenly becomes a centerpiece with bacon.

 

I picked up some strips from Cetak's yesterday and will be making onion soup and boiled potatoes wit parsley to go with it. Respect for anyone that was out working the smoker before daylight but it's just not something I'll do for an early afternoon game!
