TheCheshireCat
The Rivers School played Pingree in the Norm Walker Bowl yesterday at Gillette Stadium. But this isn’t about that football game. This is about how the boys at Rivers got to that game, and how on the way they learned as much about life as they did about football. Rivers has never been considered a football power in the Independent School League, which consists of some of the most elite prep schools in New England. But last year, they hired a young coach named Rich Fisher, who brought in a sophisticated system that challenged his players as much cerebrally as it did athletically. The Rivers playbook is as thick as “War and Peace.’’ It has 62 plays and 45 formations and motions. http://www.boston.com/community/stories_to_inspire/articles/2010/11/21/team_learns_hard_lessons_about_loss_as_wins_stack_up/?page=full Quote Link to comment
ADS
I'm actually somewhat excited to see what Coach Fisher can do, and what he brings in terms of recruiting. GBR! Quote Link to comment
Spartness
I like the this hire a lot! Of course if this is all true. He turn around an absolutely horrible HC football program. Very likable, high energy, great motivator, strong recruiter. Very promising. Quote Link to comment
CornKing
Wow, if he can bring a little of that here. Quote Link to comment
reksuH Fan
great story! my question is do you think this guy had a lot to do with it? i know hes a coach and calls plays so sure he did have an impact but team unity can make a lot of mediocre teams successful with coaches that aren't that great. mnhusker
I'm curious and optimistic. What did he do at OK St and Colorado (besides play)? Quote Link to comment
druski_2k5
Oh no, not another Buffalo, I fear he will be another Watson because of his Colorado ties!!! Seriously though, great story, those things always touch the heart, sounds like he has a lot of it, and we love to have that around here. I have trust in Bo, can't wait to see the results and how we gel as an offense! Quote Link to comment
Scarlet"N"Cream
A players coach, thats what I like. Sounds like a hard worker and has that old school coaching aspect with player respect. He is a position coach, give him a chance. Its not like he is HC. He sounds like a good recruiter in a prep HS system, but I tell you that it will translate into college. A good recruiter is a good recruiter no mater what level. Quote Link to comment
