NUance
Defensive strategy? Please, please get some pressure on the QB. And maybe even get a sack or two. tOSU gives up a lot of sacks. So we should get a couple. *Should* Quote Link to comment
GM_Tood
I just hope we play the -slow guys that can't cover/tackle not included defense-. Quote Link to comment
stlspartan
I didn't see most of the game myself, but it sounds like MSU put 8, 9 and 10 in the box, and blitzed almost every play daring OSU to pass. Seemed to work pretty well for them as they had 9 sacks. Granted our secondary may not be able to handle it. MSU blitzed a lot, but it seemed to be mostly zone blitzes. They might bring the corner and linebacker up on one side, then one or both might float back into coverage. Worthy was giving them fits as well - either pushing his man into the backfield or shooting the gap. Gholston was getting around the corner from DE and into the backfield all day as well. Generally, OSU wasn't able to open any running room and only had 3 seconds in the pocket on pass plays. Either the coverage was good or their QBs simply weren't able to release the ball quickly. When they did throw, the accuracy was poor. Quote Link to comment
HuskerT
Is it too late to move Stafford to LB? That would probably help because he's aggressive, fast and can tackle unlike any LB we have not named Lavonte David. Quote Link to comment
Stu
Improved open field tackles. That's all I'm asking. Quote Link to comment
Foppa
Maybe the D can slow them down by telling them that for every Nebraska shutout, the opponents get free tattoos as a consolation prize? Quote Link to comment
zoogs
Is it too late to move Stafford to LB? That would probably help because he's aggressive, fast and can tackle unlike any LB we have not named Lavonte David. And he'll be less liable to blown coverages. Quote Link to comment
TJ Alum Husker
what ever happened to disguising our defense?? We line up with the 3 backers 4-5 yards off the ball and they stand there like statues. fake a blitz.....move around...do SOMETHING that might help the front 4 get to the qb easier. Caven
Given how OSU has played so far this year, I think if the defense shows up in pads they will hold them under 17 without breaking a sweat. Quote Link to comment
