Arkansas State is #4 in total offense with 575 yards/game

The Red Wolves aren't getting a lot of pressure on defense. One early sack at Oregon, one sack vs. Memphis. Playing defense pretty straight up with few stunts or blitzes, probably a bit too much reliance on zone coverage.

The offense when it clicks is a thing of beauty. Nearly 40% of our 500+ yards at Oregon came against the first defense, down side was three turnovers (two early) and six first quarter penalties. Against Memphis the story of the day was special teams. One punt blocked for a TD, one punt return muffed for a TD making it a much closer game. Still ran nearly 100 plays and generated over 600 yards offense.

Y'all are still welcome to drop by The Den, that's where most ASU fans are http://arkst.com/board

Thanks for stopping by arkstfan, please continue to discuss your team and understand that we are a little salty right now because of the loss to UCLA. Sounds like both our defenses have problems so it may turn into a track meet with the offenses. Don't hesitate to start a thread about your team in this forum so we can learn more about it.

Well we either learned from last night or we didn't hopefully they were tackling each other as soon as the plane touched down

but in reality only two games in why worry about tackling its not crucial and you fans know nothing about the complexities of this D so eff U

The problem with learning from the past game is the fact that you just cannot learn speed. A lot of those missed tackles were a result of not having enough speed to get there and simply just throwing out an arm hoping to trip the ball carrier up. We have good speed in the secondary, but if they're making the bulk of the tackles we're in big trouble. I can't believe we don't have a LB riding the pine that has some speed. We need to simplify the defense and allow our speed on the field.
