No. 22 MICHIGAN at NEBRASKA

Adam Rittenberg: I know Nebraska plays much better at home, and quarterback Taylor Martinez has made obvious improvement this season. But Michigan is the steadier team right now, and the better defensive squad. The Wolverines got over the hump last week against rival Michigan State, and they'll find a way to record a signature road win. Linebacker Jake Ryan recovers two Nebraska fumbles and Denard Robinson breaks off a long touchdown run in the fourth quarter as the Wolverines silence the Sea of Red. ... Michigan 26, Nebraska 24

Brian Bennett: The Legends Division race could get pretty boring if Michigan wins in Lincoln. One thing this league has not been this year is predictable. The Wolverines' recent conservative ways on offense will play into the hands of a Huskers defense that plays better when it knows what to expect. Martinez will pick on Michigan cornerbacks and turn in one of the finest moments of his career as Nebraska roars back from an early double-digit deficit to win. ... Nebraska 28, Michigan 23

Here's our take on the best picture category. The category has had a considerable and controversial shakeup rule-wise last year. Depending on how many #1 votes each film receives on voters' ballots, anywhere from 5 to 10 nominees could wind up in the category, making it very difficult to predict. Currently, our totally uneducated guess is that it's going to be 7 or 8 (last year it was 9).

The Predicted 5:

1. Argo

2.Lincoln

3. Life of Pi

4. Silver Linings Playbook

5. Les Miserables

Big Ten's Top Storylines to Watch in Week 9:

1. Legends Division Championship Game

The Wolverines enter this weekend's showdown with the Cornhuskers unbeaten in league play after three straight wins, including a final-minute home victory over Michigan State. Brady Hoke's only two losses are to the No. 1 and No. 5 teams in the BCS. Nebraska is 2-1 in the league with quality wins over Northwestern and Wisconsin and one embarrassing fourth quarter against Ohio State. However, the Huskers are already a game behind with that loss — with road trips to Iowa and Michigan State still left to go — so this game has become the Legends Division Championship Game. Should the Maize and Blue get past the Cornhuskers, only a road trip to Columbus at season's end could derail Michigan's train to Pasadena. Should Big Red topple Big Blue, all bets are off and the Huskers then control their own destiny.

2. Taylor Martinez vs. Denard Robinson

It is cliché for a reason. Quarterback play can win or lose games and the position will easily be the focal point of both defenses in Lincoln on Saturday. Taylor Martinez is leading the league in passing efficiency and Hoke has praised his growth and development this fall. He is coming off of his best performance of the year on the road in the win against Northwestern (407 total yards, 4 TD) last weekend, but played horribly against Michigan last fall in the 45-17 loss (171 total yards, 1 TD). Denard Robinson is now the Big Ten’s leading rusher and tops the total offense charts as well. Both defenses will look to keep both scramblers in the pocket, so the winner will be the quarterback who can stand in the pocket and deliver third-down conversions down the field.

No. 20 Michigan (5-2) at Nebraska (5-2)

Huskers quarterback Taylor Martinez is putting up some big statistics (a 67 percent completion percentage, 15 touchdowns, four interceptions), but he wasn't particularly effective in losses to UCLA and Ohio State (one touchdown, four picks). Now he's going up against the toughest defense he's faced. Wolverines' standouts Jake Ryan and Jordan Kovacs will help force a couple more turnovers.

College Football News:

What Will Happen: Denard will get his yards and he’ll come up with a few good drives, but Nebraska will win ugly once again. The Michigan offense can bog down at times, and there will be just enough lulls to allow Nebraska to take control. Martinez will outplay Robinson on the way to a huge victory to make the Legends wild and crazy the rest of the way.

CFN Prediction: Nebraska 31 … Michigan 27

CFN also had a nice blurb about how our game isn't getting the buzz it deserves:

- In a week with so many giant matchups with conference, BCS and national title implications, there’s absolute zero – and I mean zero - buzz about Michigan vs. Nebraska. I know Ohio State vs. Penn State is the easy story, but if the Wolverines win, they’re almost a mortal lock to play Wisconsin for the Big Ten title - no, Iowa, it's not happening - and for a shot at the Rose Bowl. The other cool aspect is that it’s Michigan’s first trip to Nebraska since 1911 – it’s Michigan vs. Nebraska, people, and unlike the Ineligi-bowl that everyone wants to talk about, this matters.

- It’s just plain wrong that Ohio State vs. Penn State gets the ESPN love while Michigan vs. Nebraska is stuck at the kids’ table of ESPN2.
