HSKR
Never heard of this one until today. I guess this is what you get when you combine as many sports as you can. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaelic_football Quote Link to comment
corncraze
I was in Ireland in October. This game is huge there! Most attended sport in Ireland! Quote Link to comment
GSG
Where'd you hear about this Gordon? Obscure Sports Quarterly? Quote Link to comment
EbylHusker
It's an interesting sport. There is a hybrid "test" sport called International Rules Football that is a combination of Gaelic and Australian Rules Football. Quote Link to comment
ShawnWatson
Would be cooler if they incorporated ping pong paddles. Quote Link to comment
EbylHusker
If you could figure out a way, I'm guessing it'd be a popular sport in Asia. Quote Link to comment
GSG
I saw one a while back where they play with a soccer goal, but then they use bats to hit the ball. I can't remember what it's called though. Quote Link to comment
NUance
WTF is this?? I'm guessing the rules were written on the back of cocktail napkins in an Irish pub. By a bunch of drunken Irishmen. And it's not unlikely that I'm distantly related to them. Quote Link to comment
EbylHusker
Nah, Gaelic Football is well established and is fairly old. But I can't tell you what the sport is that uses bats and soccer type goals, that's a new one to me. Edit - As a slightly OT comment, the NCAA Lacrosse tournament starts in a few days. Lacrosse is an insanely fun game to watch. Quote Link to comment

GSG
My little college had a club lacrosse team that played against NU's club lacrosse team. One of my friends on the team claimed that the entire Nebraska team was drunk during the game. Sounds about right. Quote Link to comment
GSG
HURLING! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurling Ok, so it's more like lacrosse, except the sticks have a flat paddle end to them. It's called a hurley. I think Deadspin had a video of two guys getting into a fight and smacking each other with sticks a while back. Deadspin's video is gone, but here's a hurling fight anyway: Quote Link to comment
