New field turf for 2013

It looks very different, doesn't it? There's a lot less "grass" showing, and the substrata of rubber & cork is much thicker. From what I recall when the old turf was new, this stuff is much more springy.

You think that stuff ends up settling in and looks equivalent to the older stuff? (e.g., not seeing all the filler on the surface)

Definitely. I remember a short piece during one of the games in 2005 where they showed footage of them raking in sand and rubber, and talking about how the first few games breaking it in the players were complaining about it getting in their eyes. The point was to explain that it does take some time to settle but it does eventually.
