Bring Out The Gimp
The Chicago Tribune has us as at #10 today in their first pre-season poll! Will we get this much love from the rest of the AP? My guess when the first real poll comes out, we will be around 18-20. Quote Link to comment
HuskerInKC16
Hey I don't see anything on their website. Can you maybe send a link?? Quote Link to comment
HawkSker
Hate to be a downer but, Don't you think that this ranking is at least a little high?!? I love the huskers but #10? I wonder what merits this ranking, it seems like the 15-20 ranking is more accurate but then again I've always loved CHICAGO Quote Link to comment
huskerguy
I honostly think if the analyst look at our team they will notice we are not lossing a lot (not much at all) and then look how many close games we had this year. We very easily could have been 10-2. Quote Link to comment

We very easily could have been 10-2. Or 4-7... The reality is NU was 8-4 with a HUGE win in the bowl game. Starting the season ranked anywhere is fine with me. Quote Link to comment
Bring Out The Gimp
Hey I don't see anything on their website. Can you maybe send a link?? I tried to find a link online. I live in Chicago and read the paper version this afternoon. There was a comment next to Nebraska that said something like "Callahan is on a roll". The Chicago papers really have given us love since Callahan took over. I think a lot of that might be due to the fact that he grew up on the south side and has a lot of Chicago ties. DaveH
To me, the rankings don't really matter unless you are top 5 at the end of the season. Quote Link to comment

Husker_fan_in_KC
As a cynic, I would say its so they can make Michigan look better after the Alamo bowl loss. "Well ya they lost but it was to a top 10 team" Quote Link to comment
hskrfannnwk
YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote Link to comment
pigsonthewing
well the last two games our kids looked confident and afraid of no one. Colorado Puffs, Michigan, it didnt matter who you were our team looked like they believed in themselves. I'd say top 10 is generous, but i do believe we are more in the 10-20 range. hoyamannn
I think (w/my rose-colored spectacles) that the ranking is in large part to the returners we have. Hell, we won a big bowl game w/3 starting LB's out. Our biggest losses are Ross, Bullocks, Smith and Adams, but we have good depth to replace our D-Line and Ross. DB will be a concern but hopefully the JUCO's we have coming into the secondary will live up to the hype. And our LB's and O-line should be MUCH better. Another factor could be our improvement. Anybody that says they didn't see improvement this year, especially at the end, is smoking some crazy stuff. Hopefully the momentum carries over and we get rolling early next year.
