Most college towns are close to population centers, but also away from big cities. Some college towns that are also in state capitols can grow into big cities (Austin, Madison, Columbus) but most state colleges aren't in the biggest cities of the state. Quote Link to comment

ColoradoHusk Posted November 30, 2014 Share Posted November 30, 2014 The one thing that I always found funny about schools in big cities like LA, Pittsburgh and Miami is that they play their games in "pro stadiums" that are generally aren't on campus. Only the LA Coliseum is near campus, and that place is a dump. The Rose Bowl is nowhere near UCLA, the same for Miami and their current stadium. Quote Link to comment

Even if that is expanded to include the Texas schools in the former Big 12, only Austin has a larger population. Colleges aren't usually in big cities. Quote Link to comment

Due to the length of time to commute to Lincoln in consideration of the game times and arrival times, its been mentioned that it makes it tougher to get recruits to the start of some games.
