Husker coaches speak at Big Red Breakfast (08/02/16)

Recommended Posts

I'm gonna scrape these all from Sam McKewon's twitter feed.

----

Riley says Tommy Armstrong has been studying a lot with OC Danny Langsdorf. #huskers

Riley: Ryker Fyfe “has shoulders now.” He’s put in a lot of work; good release. Clear backup. Then AJ Bush. Then POB.

Riley on OL: more and more enthused with it. Farmer and Foster have emerged. Center a better spot for Utter.

David Knevel will be the first guy off the bus, Riley jokes.

Riley: DLs could be this year’s version of LBs.

Riley on Davis Twins: “If you have any trouble with them, all you have to do is call their mom.” #huskers

Riley: Sedrick King needs to step up.

Riley said Nebraska will have 144-145 players on the roster by the time the season begins.

Langsdorf on Armstrong: his comfort level is so much further along. Drops a “light years” ahead on us

Banker: D needs to get better on early downs and defending big plays.

Banker: if you have to have inexperience at a D position group, DL is best, because there are “two layers” behind them.

Mike Riley on Nebraska “I want to make this as a training center of America.”

Mike Riley: “there’s no doubt we’re all in this together.”

Nebraska coach Mike Riley once again expressed his desire to establish a reliable ground attack Tuesday morning as he discussed his team's outlook heading into preseason camp.

Riley, speaking at The World-Herald's Big Red Today Breakfast at Anthony's Steakhouse, isn't sure that the Huskers can replicatea dominant bowl game performance each and every week this year. But with an inexperienced-but-promising offensive line that he spoke highly of Tuesday and a group of running backs that continues to improve, Riley thinks NU should have a run-first blueprint in 2016.

“We have to run the football,” Riley told about 300 fans Tuesday. “Physically, we want to impose our will. Running the ball is the best way to do that. So that is a major emphasis of what we want to do.”

Curious on this comment as it reads a little funny - is he talking about 3, 5 and 7 foot drops being better?

I think it was a general "light years" ahead comment that Langs "dropped" on those listening.
