Husker Coaches on 'Nebraska Swarm' Friday

Recommended Posts

Riley, speaking on his monthly coaches show on Thursday, said that all nine coaches will hit the road in the state in a “Nebraska Swarm,” with coaches hitting 45-50 schools on Friday.

“We want to find the very best players in the state, and those guys have to come to Nebraska,” Riley said.

Nebraska is hoping to carry the recruiting momentum from its spring game to the recruiting trail. The challenge for Nebraska, however, will be managing numbers in this year’s class. Riley said that as of now, Nebraska is planning to sign 15 prospects in the 2018 class, and that hitting numbers at certain positions will be key.

For example, Nebraska is recruiting three wide receivers, and just one outside linebacker in this year’s class. Riley said that on Thursday, Nebraska ranked its recruiting board for players who would be taken in the class, if they want in.

I'm really appreciating the "marketing' the department is doing with the recruiting. This is a great idea - probably happens every year but now it is an "event" where people will be watching to see who goes where.

Reggie Davis has been to 4 schools in two hrs. What is he doing? Taking a picture outside the school, going in and handing them his business card and leaving?

Allowing for if he's taking the pics when he gets there or when he leaves .....

Yeah, he can't be spending more than 5-10 minutes at each place.

This is funny. Although the kids are in school so unless he is there when they are on lunch hour they are being pulled out of class. They usually don't spend more than 30 min talking to the kid or kids.

I like this. Whether they are just going in and saying hi to the coaches or actually talking to specific kids they want I think it's great to check in on your local schools periodically (should do this a few times a year). If they have the talent at the time or not, just like a business client, you have to show them you care. Our opponents that are working hard will always be knocking on doors and if we aren't working as hard or harder then when that talent is there they will be paying attention to the ones who have shown them love.
