knapplc
Interesting. I know it's a crap shoot at this point, but this seems a bit of a high ranking. We don't have a Setter yet, so that's pretty high. Foecke, Sweet, Maloney and Stivrins return, so 2/3 of the National Championship starting lineup, but we don't have another Middle (since McClellan left) and without Hunter, there's a few question marks. VectorVictor
Wow...seven teams from the B1G in the Top 25. Damn this is a stacked Volleyball conference. 15 minutes ago, knapplc said: Interesting. I think a lot of that is folks don't doubt Cook's coaching acumen, and last year's team was, in some aspects, worse off than this year's team. I fully expect them to figure out what ails them early on, and by B1G play, we'll see the women pick up where they left off last year. Quote Link to comment

Funny seeing Penn State at #6, ESPECIALLY behind Kentucky. I get that Skinner has a good program going in Kentucky, but they're "SEC good," not Big Ten good. I would put even money on Penn State against anyone in the Top 5, including Nebraska. Quote Link to comment

So, looking at all the teams receiving votes (39 total), the Pac-12 leads the way with nine teams (because Oregon State eked in with six total points), the Big Ten is next with eight teams, then the Big XII and SEC have four teams each, and the ACC has three teams. The Big East has two teams (Creighton & Marquette), as does the WCC. Adding up the points for each of these conferences, the Big Ten leads the way with 6,650 points (831 avg), the Pac-12 is next with 5,476 (684), the SEC is third with 2,629 (657) and the Big XII is fourth with 2,336 (584). The West Coast Conference's two schools (BYU and San Diego) have a total of 1,815 points and a 908 average - right behind the Big Ten. 2 Quote Link to comment

I wouldn’t put money on PSU especially not early on. They lost 85% of their offense which is their top 4 in swings/kills and also one of their setters. They did get a good transfer and have a great incoming class but they really lost a ton from last years team and will be very young. 1 Quote Link to comment

knapplc
We traded spots with Minnesota. They were #5, we were #3. That seems fair. In fact, losing at home by four, even to a top ten team, could have dropped us further. Here's Volley Mob's cumulative Top 50, combining the AVCA poll, RPI and their own poll ( ). Lots of Husker opponents on this list. The Big Ten has half of the top ten teams. knapplc
I'm a little surprised they didn't punish us for losing to Penn State, considering the fifth game wasn't that competitive. But I guess they're giving us props for going to five at Rec Hall. 1 Quote Link to comment
