  1. In conference I have been to: 1. Ohio state, huge crowds, mostly friendly, great bar scene, and full stadium. 2. Penn state, middle of no where, but huge following and a huge tail gate, didn't do any bar stuff but I am sure they have a decent selection. Been 2 x once right after paterno was fired, and 2 seasons ago and it was freezing, but the fans are rock solid and have never had a negative experience so far. Lots of fun. 3. Wisconsin: awesome college town, awesome bars, awesome game day experience, except the fans were rude and unfriendly. Now also had some great experiences with most fans, but sadly that 25% defineatly soured the expierence. And if you go beer in a boot is a must and the cheese curds are unreal. Bonus they have an awesome farmers market around the capital building that's top notch. 4. Maryland: home state stadium, nice and close to 3 very cool cities, DC, Baltimore and Annapolis. Lots of airports to come into, and hotels a plenty. Because of that there are lots of things to see and do. Tailgating is pretty good considering the lack of football history for success, probably will be packed for a nebraska game due to itial excitement, small stadium and lots of east coast skers fans. 5. Rutgers, tbd this year. Will let you know.
  2. We really haven't needed to use him, except maybe to wear down M state. As far as using him and AA, there also hasn't been a need to show that wrinkle right now, and the team prob hasn't put those plays into the pregame prep for any of the three games.
  3. Tommy will struggle against much better opponents. I hope you make a lot of money from your magic crystal ball. How about we wait until we see him play a few of these better opponents before making any projections of certain doom.
  4. I don't think there's a lot of truth do this. Calhoun helped him out with his throwing motion/mechanics, which never really became great. Most of his growth came from his improved understanding of the offense and ability to make reads, adjustments, ect. I doubt Calhoun goes over the playbooks of every QB that comes to see him. However, it makes little-to-no sense to carry a TE coach when we hardly utilize the TE in this offense. You're going to use your QB. I don't care that a large percentage of college programs don't have a dedicated QB coach, that's their problem. It doesn't have to be ours as well. Might as well gain an edge where you can. So to that point, I do agree with you. I thought that it was understood that our TE coach (cotton) is also responsible for the tackles as well, while the center and guard position are under the OL coach (garrison). Which makes sense because the OL accounts for the highest percentage of players on the offense. If anything Beck is the one who should be the QB coach, as the QB is basically the OC on the field, which is how the current set up for coaches is. And Armstrong is still a young QB, who currently has 9 TDs to one pick. Our offense for the most part has been extremely productive for the first 3 games. As far as the TE seam passes being overthrown, it's one of the hardest technical throws for a young QB. It is often overthrown because it's harder to perceive distance and speed vertically than horizontally. Also QBs want to lead the target, while also trying not to under throw and hand the defense an easy INT. Source: I stayed at a holiday inn express
  5. i call bullsh#t.........we used this excuse for piss poor play last year against patsies.....we play down to the level of competition almost always......we are not that good....and damn sure poorly coached, even Pelini admits that. You can call it whatever you want. But we also beat Georgia last year after the piss poor games against patsies. We have 2 games so far. One we rolled and everyone was in shock how well the game went, then we walk into a trap game unprepared as a team and make mistakes that make the game closer than it should have been. Had just the pick six been a td we are talking about a completely different game. You will continue to find any excuse to cut down the team and the coaching staff, but at the end of the day and the season his coaching credentials are among the best out there. He wasn't handed a Ferrari like TO or Solich, but instead a mustang with a blown gasket and bad brakes. The amount of positives he brings to the the program far outweigh the negatives. Give me an example of another coach who dealt with what Pelini has and produced better results?
  6. This was a trap game from the get go. We crushed FAU, we look past the little team to Fresno state and bAm we are in a fight for the game. We won, we play next week, and we are still undefeated, that's all that matters.
  7. I hope they work, but we still muffed a punt and FAU dropped some INTS. The punt would be us receiving their ball kicked to us, so I doubt it was the same kind as ours, and was probably a beat up punters ball that is more soccer ball than football.
  8. Apparently their servers are all screwed up, I tried to watch the game yesterday at work on the app and the wouldn't even let me use it. Something about me not having the BTN approval, which I checked with comcast and they said they were good on their side. Stupid apps
  9. In all the excitement of the game, I completely forgot the new rifle balls. It will be interesting to see if they make a difference. Great point. Also, the information gleaned from the tracking devices in the balls, and if any of it will be released to the public/media. I really like the whole idea of the new ball, as long as it continues to help the team break offensive records.
  10. When NU ran the old I-formation, the I-back would be about 7 yards behind the LOS. This allows that I-back to see the hole or make necessary cuts. This also allows the back to take a couple steps forward so he is hitting the hole at a higher speed. In the I formation, there was a FB lead blocker though too. That fullback always cleared the lane for the I-back. You could be right though about maybe hitting the gap at a higher speed and it probably does help with vision a bit. I always prefer a running back not make cuts behind the LOS, much like a runner like Cross, but either way I can't knock what we are doing because Abdullah does very well. I was just curious about it.With zone runs and zone blocking, it's up to the RB to see the hole, make the one cut, and hit that hole. That's what Ameer does so well. Cross can't make those lateral cuts, so his plays have to have specified holes for him to hit. Cross is a good straight ahead runner with power, but his can't go lateral, stick a foot in the ground and then hit that hole. Where do you come up with the whole Cross can't go lateral? Just because his strength is down hill style running doesn't mean he is not capable of outside the tackle running.
  11. Haha the football thing, it will be interesting to see if that does play a factor in our TO numbers this year. But shhhh there are people that will never belief a football could cause handling issues.
  12. Agreed knapp, we need to score more points than the opposing team, that is the goal that is important to winning.
  13. Shark: it seems like TArm plays within the game plan, knowing that the game plan is going to accommodate the situation and make adjustments, where as TMart seems to try and take control and score on any given play. Which I think in turn effected the play calling of beck, and hampered us during the last 4 years. I feel a lot better about both Beck and Armstrong, but also want to see us against Fresno and Miami before getting too giddy about the offense.
  14. For some reason I read that like it was a jeopardy player choosing a topic. Anyways it's nice when we can tailor our offense to get the most out the players we have on the field, at the end of the game, putting plays in that your athletes have a high probability of success is or should be the goal. TL:DR- suck it Trebek, I agree.
  15. Agreed, but I still think our return game is a work in progress, and they trying things in practice that we won't see until later in the season, maybe Miami or mich state. I just can't fathom that the coaches will continue to see the results and not change something, especially after they said during camp they put an emphasis on it.
  16. So, if someone comes over to your house to watch a football game and they have a few beers then, get go home and get stopped and arrested and blow maybe .1, they all of a sudden have integrity issues? They did something against the law and they obviously made a mistake putting themselves in that position, but we automatically question their integrity then and their morality? Some reason my ipad wouldn't ever let me respond to this thread, but anyways. While I think the .08 number is a terrible indicator of a persons ability to properly operate a vehicle, I am fairly certain anything over .15 is a good indicator that you shouldn't be operating a car and therefore are putting other peoples lives in jeopardy for no good reason. I am all for stripping government officials of their positions who have been found guilty of certain crimes, and a DUI/DWI is something I think should be included in that. As far as BRB comment, If they are drinking a few beers over the course of a football game there is almost no way they will blow a .1 on their way home, outside of that yes if someone leaves my house and is not capable of driving I will lose some respect for their integrity because I have asked them if they are ok to drive at least once. What happens if she would have killed someone else, which blowing almost three times the legal limit is a possibility. She took a chance with every other person on the road, and could have just as easily missed a stop sign and killed a car full of people because she wanted to drink vodka and drive around, and that is before she was arrested. I don't get how anyone can try and justify that she is some upstanding person, after the video surfaced and the facts of the case are known. She is a f%&k*ing District attorney, who is supposed to be putting criminals away for these crimes, and yet she is the one who broke them. Sorry if I think that somehow that affects her ability to run and control a public integrity unit. Secondly, the fact he used funding to control another entity is neither out of the ordinary or without precedence. It is easy enough to find just looking at Nebraska seat belt laws, and the national drinking age that all the states somehow agreed upon. Both of those were created with the federal government told states who didn't want to comply that they would have their federal funding reduced or completely shut off. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Minimum_Drinking_Age_Act .
  17. There is (potentially) a big difference between this and Mike Brown. The white guy wasn't standing in the middle of the road, and there was actually a situation in progress. With the current information that is leaking out, it would appear that shooting was far worse than the Mike Brown shooting, as the young man was shoot doing nothing illegal and was a victim already before being shot by police. Mike brown was an alleged criminal, strong armed robbery suspect, potentially resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer, and a jaywalker.
  18. I guess I am just a little more against people who think drinking and driving is ok, and considering she is supposed to be in charge of the department that is supposed to be the public integrity unit..... How can anyone justify having a unit ran by someone who obviously has a real integrity issue.
  19. This is such political crap, the way she acted after being pulled over should be enough to have her removed from office. If she didn't want to be asked to resign she shouldn't have put every citizen on the road in danger when she drove drunk. It's by some miracle she didn't kill anyone including herself. And her position should not exempt her from being held accountable for her actions which failed to uphold the standards of the very department she heads. Whether or not she was investigating perry is irrelevant to this specific incident, as perry had nothing to do with her legal issues.
  20. Wins vs loses? And return yardage......punt/kick coverage and returns
  21. First off we are still dealing with a incomplete picture of what happened, And I think we should all wait to make any rash decisions much like what happened with the Trayvon Martin death. Secondly regarding the cop knowing if Michael brown was a suspected strong armored robber. For the wording I heard during the police press release, was that the officer didn't know the description of the suspect at the time of the officers FIRST contact with Brown. But it is entirely possible that after he first confronted the two men that his radio came across with th discription which led to the physical interaction of The officer and brown. I hope everyone allowed more information to come out before attacking either of the men involved I this case, let's not turn this into duke or any number of other news based tragities.
  22. It's not where we are right now. It's where we are on signing day and I betcha it doesn't look too different come February 2015. We'll see. At least that would give us hope for something different. Quite being a sour puss, haha. You have to admit the 2015 class has one heck of a foundation to build on, if it can be held together and we have a strong season, we could really finish with one of the best rated classes Nebraska has seen in quite a while. Granted it won't be a huge class, but the quality really seems to be there. And it's seems like the staff has gotten better at finding diamonds in the rough before other big schools and offering them right before they hit the camp circuit and blow up. I credit garrison, kaz and warren for building a better recruiting pattern.
  23. I was going to start a topic about one of those quotes, but might as well lump it in here. The one quote that caught my eye was about the possibility of TA and AA running the more classic option from the under center. We saw some brief glimpses of it the past few seasons, but it seemed like Tommy has a pretty smooth option look, much better than TMart. With the talent we have on offense and especially in the backfield, it would seem to play into our stengths, Super excited about the diamond formation possibilities. Any thoughts on that?
  24. Does the triple option against michigan count as a trick play?
