  1. If nothing else, today's game should put to rest the notion that Martinez's struggles at the end of last year were because teams learned how to defend him. In 3 games against Washington - Healthy Martinez = 50+ points, Unhealthy Martinez = (the same could be said for the OLine) He played pretty well today. He's doing a tremendous job in the zone read game, he was great in the option today except for that one errant pitch, and he was OK throwing the ball. If he could be a little more accurate and if he could eliminate the 2-3 throws a game that are seemingly to no one in particular, that'd be nice, but he still played very well overall today. He did good, not great. I wish he was able to eliminate the high arcing pass that gives defenders time to close in around the ball though. But we need his big play ability on the field. I hope though with our next game at Wyoming that the Huskers can put the game to bed early and we can gauge a little more of how Brion Carnes is coming along. I think the Wyoming game will be the last opportunity for him to see the field as long as Martinez is healthy.
  2. Well that my misunderstanding then, people kept telling me it was an onside kick. But like i said, either way we had the ball, and no matter where we were, the offense would have moved the ball.
  3. 1. Chase Rome got some playing time. 2. PJ Smith saw some playing time late in the 4th. 3. Despite not playing at all last week, Heard and Green didnt skip a beat 4. Kenny Bell is fast, Quincy is physical 5. Legate isn't Scheslinger, but he is good nonetheless 6. Andrew Green really gets picked on 7. Ciante Evans had that INT 8. Crick lays down the wood hard 9. Eric Martin is still a ST beast 10. Martinez may not be a great passer, but his big play ability is the key to this offense
  4. Wow, you are greatly mistaken. The second kid didn't hit burkhead until he caught the ball. In fact he slowed down to allow Burkhead to catch it. Blame Burkhead for not calling fair catch on that. Still Burkhead didn't fumble. Blatchford can't call fair catch on an onside kick. So the hit was legal, but either way it was Huskers ball. I don't understand why Marlowe took a knee after retuning the kick in the first place.
  5. This was the first time i saw flashes of good plays from the secondary. I am not saying they did a good job, because they didn't but there was a few times that a ball was batted away or the cornerback was physical with the receiver which was lacking in the previous two games. It shows me that the technique is being taught, its just not being applied to the game by the players. That will come with more practice and game time experience. I have to agree with Irafreak, that we have had the luxury of a very good secondary for two years and when we fall into a reloading year without a star corner, we go into meltdown mode because the new guys aren't anything like Prince Amukamara, Dejon Gomes, Eric Hagg, Alfonzo Dennard, Rickey Thenarse, Matt O'Hanlon, Larry Asante and such. It may not be this year, but our secondary has the potential to be good, just give it time.
  6. My how the opinion of our starting RB changes over a weeks time...
  7. On a good note, we know own the series against Washington. It was tied last year when we went to Seattle, we took it during that game, Washington tied it during the Holiday Bowl, and now we have gained the upper hand again. Hopefully we won't met in another bowl game this year.
  8. Offense - Rex Burkhead Honorable mention - The entire Offensive Line, i just hope they keep it up. Defense - Jared Crick, the past three games i have seen him get held, knocked around, blindsided by the opposing OL. He took his frustration out on Keith Price. Honorable mention - Lavonte David Special Teams - Matthew May
  9. For the first time ever, Bo said his offensive coordinator called a great game. Good job Tim!
  10. The only thing I am panicking about is the secondary. It needs a lot of work without Dennard.
  11. I knew this was going to be a shootout with how bad the secondary is. I really feel bad for Green, he is just getting picked on. In all three games.
  12. Our offenses ability to score has kept us in this game. Our secondary has been bad, and im convinced its lack of experience.
  13. That was a bad call. Marlowe should have called everyone to stay away from it.
  14. I'm getting sick and tired of these announcers making fun of Martinez's passing technique. I'm sorry he isnt the perfect passer like Keith Price. Idiots.
  15. We are going to lose this game if we come in with too much of a chip on our shoulders. Remember the Texas game last year? We hyped it up so much because it was a revenge game and we ended up losing it. Lets hope our players learned from that experience and don't think so much about revenge from the Holiday Bowl and just play the game to win.
  16. I'd would rather take Dennard recovering at his own pace and being put out there when he is ready, rather than rushing him out there only to get re-injured and be lost for a longer period when conference play matters.
  17. Could just a be a custom made helmet.
