  1. Liberal Arts degrees are excellent for creating well-rounded, interesting people. From my experience it does little to provide knowledge/skills that separate the graduate from people that did not graduate from college. There is a reason that my engineering friends do not worry about being unemployed.

  3. Anything shown on BTN has immediate replay. Anything shown on another network will be available at 12:00 AM the following day. My guess is EST but I am not sure. Long story short, you'll be able to see it Sunday.
  4. EDIT - CG beat me to it. I agree with CG but would word it differently. Any scheme is going to have a learning curve. Most teams can make up for having to play youth by recruiting players that played in similar schemes in high school. The high school coaches are teaching whatever scheme they think will work at their school. If that doesn't align to what the player will be asked to do in college than it just put the kids further behind when they make it to campus. The consensus seems to be that it took BP about three years to figure out a recruiting style that fit what he was trying to do and brought in some higher rated classes. It will be a rough transition as the team will rely on more youth than you would like to see for a few years. The transition would always have been bumpy, just less bumpy if high school coaches were teaching things that aligned more directly to what NU was trying to ask of its players.
  5. The one yard is to give time for the defensive lineman to read the steps of the o-lineman. Its a read step. The 1 yard allows for the time to read it. That is what makes this fun. Everyone does similar things for entirely different reasons!
  6. It's like conceding a whole yard before the ball is snapped. Who else runs a 2 gap? First and 7 considering they do it for 3 plays. It is done primarily when the defense is expecting a pass play when the extra yard gives some momentum to a DT pass rush to help collapse the pocket.
  7. BTN2Go has reported that they website is down because of some issue with their technical partners. The Nebraska is not airing on TV in my area only on BTN2Go. T-minus 1h 17m to freak out time. You are not the only one. I knew I should not have let her schedule a vacation to BFE on a game weekend. Nothing good ever comes of it.
  8. Worst case just hook a laptop to the tv. Btn2go.com and watch the game that way.
  9. How was that getting cute? They started loading the box and we tried a quick slant route and had some miscommunication so it didn't work out. It isn't like we tried a halfback pass or something we don't do all the time.
  10. Question for the board on this: I am a Christian so I naturally I think it's pretty cool that they do "the prayer" before games... but I realize a lot of people do not share the same faith and could even be offended by the fact that the team does this at a public institution. I know Ameer Abdullah is a devout Muslim and he loves the prayer they do. But I would like to hear the thoughts of you guys who may not be "prayers" so to speak. Just curious... thanks! Unless it calls out a deity specifically(i.e. sweet baby Jesus) then there isn't too much to be offended by. I always thought it took on more a "God of Football/Sports" feel. Beyond that, it is tough to get upset with something that was meant to teach humility. If anything I would be more upset that the original was bastardized than anything else. I get the feeling I am in the minority on that one though. Full disclosure: I am a heathen. Though I do hate Vegans, so I may not go to hell after all.
  11. Oh. He's a coach on the field. He's also deceptively athletic. So, no chance at being well spoken then?
  12. The only thing that makes sense to me is that they are referencing that he never throws the ball away because he can outrun everyone to the corner. If he doesn't get sacked in the pocket he usually doesn't go down.
  13. Sure he would have. Right after he signed the football and Hoffman's jersey.
  14. They may have been playing down the the level of their competition. So even though we could have won the game they still would have given Georgia the trophy because we all know they are the better team?
  15. Apparently I live less than 5 miles from him. Guess I'll need to go watch a game this fall and see what all the hoopla is about!
  16. Ha ha! Well we know who #1 will be. It's #2 and #3 three I'm wondering about. Oh the suspense! We'll still see Martinez, AA, Bell, Enunwa and Long which means the top seven and eight of the top nine will be on offense. (Apparently the OWH isn't as excited about the D). Not that that's a surprise. I'd say the rest of the countdown will be Enunwa, Long, Bell, AA, Martinez just because we're run-heavy but I wouldn't be surprised to see AA and Bell switched. So Ciante Evans is playing on offense this year?
  17. We were -6 last year... :/ So? The point spread has nothing to do with who they think will win the game.
  18. Penn St. will always be dangerous as long as the are healthy. They will be what people expected if a few starters get dinged up along the way. Last year was a VERY good year for them in the injury department. No idea how long the luck will hold out though. That's why I'm glad we get them in November.
  19. what are you talking about? Too much Ncaa football probably. You are probably right about playing too much NCAA football. My only guilty pleasure any more. Regardless, I assumed from the picture that would be the N's final resting place. I guessed that the only reason it would be that off center was for a trademark tag. If they are not done placing it then I jumped the gun. My bad.
  20. Why do they HAVE to align the 'N' and include the copyright symbol. It looks off-center and is going to drive me nuts for the next 6-8 years.
  21. That will never happen without a radical economic shift in how the game works today. Teams depend on at least 7 home games for a 12 game season. I don't see a snowballs chance in hell that any team worthy of being in a super conference gives up competitive advantage for money. Non-cons have become budget balancers. Unless the conference can afford to give $5+ million to half the schools in the conference every year it isn't economically viable. I know they deal in outlandish figures on a regular basis but taking $50MM off the top of your budget seems more crippling than empowering.
  22. Sure, Rodriguez has been slowed by injuries and all. But I think a lot of us expected big things from him when he was recruited four years ago. It just hasn't happened yet. Not so much anyway. I do not believe it is his fault. He doesn't fit our current offense as well as he fit our old offense. He is a straight-ahead run blocking mauler at guard. When we transitioned to an offense that required more agility out of the guards and center he got bumped to tackle. Some of the lack of agility shows in pass protection. If he were at Michigan or Bama his talents would be more evident.
  23. I get your point but I'm not sure I agree. Taylor will have plenty of games to pad the stats if the schedule is as lenient as people think it will be. On the other edge of that sword, there will not be many hyped games this year. I think it is safe to assume that UCLA, Michigan, and a CCG would be his best shot for impressing on a big stage. If he misses on UCLA then he isn't in any conversations until November at best. The media's love affair with Braxton Miller will put Taylor in an uphill battle when he gets tagged "not even the best in his conference". They have come around on Taylor quite a bit but I have yet to see Taylor referenced in any top QB list nationally. If he doesn't start changing minds early then he may not have a chance to later on. Or Braxton could catch a case of the "Bauserman" and make this a moot point. Ah, a man can dream.
