  1. I like that. I was trying to put together a NU centric one before I did the crazy post above. I thought I'd like to see Turner Gill in there some place but not sure where. Maybe assistant AD or some admin spot. I tried to keep it somewhat realistic. I only added Craig Bohl because how bad he is doing at Wyoming & thinking he may be available at the right time. I just don't see Turner Gill leaving Liberty. So you were being serious that if you could have any coach it would be Scott Frost as HC? I thought you were merely trying to pick an all NU coaching staff As a realistic option yes. Sorry I don't think Saben, Meyer or the reincarnated Bill Walsh are coming to NU ever. It was also to get a all NU staff
  2. All I really want to see is a Husker team that is focused on the power run game & a very aggressive defense that wants to attack.

  4. I'm sure a team that won zero games last year will go to Ann Arbor and win I bolded two very important words in my post.
  5. AD - Trev Alberts HC - Scott Frost OC - Burton Burns OL - Will Sheilds WR - Keith Williams RB - Tom Rathman DC - Craig Bohl DL - Clint Brown LB - Barrett Ruud DB - Barron Miles ST - Carlos Polk GA - Daniel Bullocks GA - Johnny Mitchell
  6. If Scott Frost & UCF somehow beat Michigan in 2016, I think this board may explode. Also Riley may need to find a bomb shelter to live in.
  7. Guess you didn't watch the game last night. I did, Special Teams is the only reason Alabama has another title. Alabama has been lucky to win the titles they have. 2009 - Their only undefeated season under Nick Saben. 2011 - LSU rematch, that was a joke & that game should have never happened. 2012 - SEC Title game, bad clock management by Georgia won them the game. Then played a highly over ranked Notre Dame team for the title. 2015 - Was a solid title.
  8. Its actually a good thing when your coaches are wanted by other programs. It means that you made a good hire. It's a bad thing when no one on the same level wants your coaches & for them to find a new job they have to go down a level & take a huge paycut.
  9. It would be interesting to know if they even considered UNMC, NCTA, UNO & UNK. My guess is they did not even though they are part of the system. The University of Nebraska is a four campus University. Nebraska has split the University unlike most, & never gets looked at as a whole. This was the big AAU fight that NU won until they left the Big 12. http://nebraska.edu/
  10. Management I believe. We need more Communication & Physical Ed Major's on the team.
  11. I could be wrong, but I believe that in football, the scholarships are of e one-year renewable variety. It gives the coaches and players a chance to sit down and evaluate things after a season to see if the desire to renew the scholly is mutual. I do believe Delaney and the Big 10 have proposed full four year scholly agreements in the recent past as an alternative. It'd help mitigate the oversigning and more plentiful "cutting" of players from schollies in places like the SEC. The idea didn't get much traction, though. The logistics of moving to a full four-year scholly system would make it nearly impossible to recover if you miss on important guys or have a high number of busts that you then have to carry for a full college career. Thanks Dude for the explanation. That helps my understanding of what is going on. It does force the players to work hard and earn each year and I see the logic against a 4 year scholly - get a couple of busts at a key position like QB or RB and you might end up write off the rest of your career as coach at that university. Actually Nebraska committed to 4 year scholly's under Bo 2 years ago. So this is pretty crappy if they asked him to leave. They are having a hard time trying to fill the current class of 23. I don't think they need to have that number rise to 28 by running folks off. Anytime a staff is looking at taking a half a dozen JC players you know they're coaching for a quick fix to save their jobs rather than build a program. Who says they are running players off?good. Need more non contributors off the team, especially if the player wants a chance at playing time. Can't argue with the coaches for targeting JUCOs too, and if it's about saving their job, wouldn't any of us do the same thing? I would. Also, Stoops won his first title with JUCOs, a QB was one of them too. Good luck to Trai. The JUCO comment is not right at all & is just a dumb comment. JUCO's are taken every year by some of the best programs. JUCO's are perfect for filling a miss in recruiting, adding depth, replacing transfers & sometimes just getting a stud player. Look at players like Mike Rozier, OJ Simpson, Keyshawn Johonson, sCam Newton, Randy Gregory & Levonte David. These are just a few JUCO transfers that worked out pretty well I could think of off the top of my head.
  12. Is it bad that I hope this happens. I would really like to see a OC who wants to run more of a Stanford style offense. Sorry, but I put a lot of this year on Langsdorf. We were told all offseason that they would try to marry the skillsets & playbook of the last staffs to what they want to move to. If they think they did that last year, then we are in a lot more trouble this coming season.
  13. Which '15 team? The one who played Purdue or the one who played UCLA?
  14. This whole season was about adversity and the cultural shift transitioning from Pelini to Riley And if Tommy doesn't throw the INT in OT to Miami we would have been 8-5 And if Nebraska runs the ball to eat clock against Illinois and had a pass defense, we would have been 9-4 And if Nebraska gets a first down against Wisconsin in the final minutes or had a pass defense, we would have been 10-3 And if Nebraska gets the 2-point conversion against Northwestern to force OT, we would have been 11-2 And if Nebraska runs the ball against Purdue's poor rush defense, we would have been 12-1 And if Nebraska doesn't throw 4 interceptions against Iowa, we would have been 12-0 If we did all of that, we're in the CCG in a rematch with Michigan State competing for the final playoff spot. We were so close, weren't we? Unless all that happened along with. 1. Armstrong & Reilly not converting on a 3rd & 17, followed by Freedom not getting a final sack & allowing SM to score & win. 2. MSU's DB holds on to a pass that Armstrong put right in his hands, game ends & NU loses. 3. If either of those happened there would have been no UCLA Bowl win. 3-9 season. NU did one thing almost the same all season. They played to the level of their compition, good or bad.
  15. I think it was down to Herman and Riley...Bummer What was down to Herman and Riley? Hair growth??? Herman & Meyer for Allen.
  16. Is that the adopted love child of John Madden & Jon Gruden?
  17. 2012 & 2013 Alabama MNC are a joke. LSU & Notre Dame should not have been in those title games. My feelings are if the current system was in place for those games they would be lucky to win one of the two championships.
  18. Could also have easily finished 3-9. But, if my aunt had balls, she would be my uncle, as they say.Do tell, how were we close to finishing 3-9? I say we could have won 10 because there were 4 games we essentially lost at the last second. Enlighten me wordsmith. Southern Miss and Sparty. I say we could have easily lost 9 because there were 2 games that ended in victory but the outcome was still very much in the balance with 1 min to play. One of which, we benefitted from a terrible call. It was the correct call. Every expert that has viewed the play disagrees with you. No, sticking with call by line judge was correct. But, line judge made a blatantly wrong call. Just not reviewable. Which part? The forced out of bounds part or the part where Brandon re-established himself in bounds? I prefer the end where he scores & the play is confirmed as called on the field.
  19. When people complained about throwing the ball so much I think people forgot what our strongest position on offense was No doubt our WRs are the best athletes on the team, but you need to have someone who can get them the ball consistently. As much as I love what Armstrong brings to the table, he is just not a QB who you can trust to reliably throw the ball 30-40 times a game. If we had a Joe Ganz or Zac Taylor back there throwing to this group of receivers and the offense putting up lots of yards and TDs, I think you'd see a lot less angst about our run-pass balance. You would from me. I will always miss the mentality of " We are going to run the football & you cannot stop us".
  20. Could also have easily finished 3-9. But, if my aunt had balls, she would be my uncle, as they say. Do tell, how were we close to finishing 3-9? I say we could have won 10 because there were 4 games we essentially lost at the last second. Enlighten me wordsmith. Not to be the negative guy, but he is not wrong. NU was up 29-7 to start the 4th & gave up 21 points & seemed unable to stop the Southern Miss offense in the 4th Qtr. A 3rd & 19 converted by Armstrong to Riley for 41yds stopped the bleeding in the forth quarter from Southern Miss & let NU score their only 4th quarter points. SM got a onside kick. Freedom sacked the QB to end the game. It ended up being a nail bitter at the end. MSU vs NU - Had the CB held on to a pass that Armstrong threw right to him. The game would have ended with another loss. The bowl game would have never happened with another loss so that would have made them 3-9. You can't just look at the bad breaks & not the good ones. The truth is this team is lucky to be a 6-7 team, as sad as that sounds. The bowl game was a gift. A gift that only 3 teams have ever recieved.
