  1. From today's Lincoln Star.......... Sadler knows the 6-foot-11, 330-pound center, who averaged 15 minutes, 5.2 points and 4.3 rebounds as a junior college transfer last season, could provide quality bench minutes in a physical Big Ten Conference. "I'd like for him to help us win one game," Sadler said. "Obviously there comes a point where you're not going to jeopardize a whole season, but we're not even close to that." Sadler has previously said that Almeida would redshirt. But. … "If we could have him ready, I'd say, by the middle of January … because the way the league looks right now, with it being considered the top league in the country, if you can get up to maybe eight or nine wins, you could make the NCAA Tournament. That's still our goal." I'm trying to read between the lines with this Doc quote today. Hell, I'm even trying to read ON the lines and I can't translate Doc-speak. On one hand, he seems to be saying that if Almeida can help him win even ONE game in the B!G, it's worth it.......... But on the other hand, he feels it's NOT worth it to waste the whole season for just a couple of games. (I agree with THAT) But he's willing to do either and wait until mid January to decide..............? Somebody, please translate.............
  2. Looks like his potential STATUE at Pitt will come to the same failed fruition as his unfulfilled desire outside Memorial Stadium.........................
  3. Maybe he'll go for Wanny.........part deux...............
  4. Congrats to him..............this is an awfully tough conference to be garnering honors...................
  5. ah............my opinion is that the good ol' NCAA is arriving AFTER the fire ( championships crowned, paid players now in the NFL, etc).......................with a grand gesture of their woeful inabilities to have TIMELY sanctions.....
  6. It is interesting for sure. Wonder if he is miffed at the Mad Hatter and Co. Probably feeling a little less love after they went after another LB..........................which begs the question..........IF that is his reason (and we don't KNOW that it is)..................do we really want someone afraid of some competition?? Ha............good rejoinder.....................although it's not jumping to a conclusion.................just idle speculative musing passing the day.........................
  7. Wasn't he hired at Bama AFTER Shawn Watson said no to Saban...............?? Strange world...................

  9. Tit for tat............that...............
  10. Just having the garage door go up at a repair place will probably cost you that much...................... You know how manufacturers now "hide" things to make it difficult to "fix" them..........................I had to have the right wheel and fender removed to have a shop "get" to the battery....................no b.s..................
  11. Yes, as Ferentz would likely be covering the off-season workout regimen................
  12. Why would Ferentz get offered the Chiefs job? Are there some ties there that I'm not aware of or something? I know he was once regarded as hot coaching commodity years ago, but I didn't think he still was. Count me among the continually puzzled about the annual listing of Ferentz as a "hot" coaching commodity. Just what body of work does his resume entail to generate this talk?
  13. Still there and still open................including .99 margaritas (I believe)....................
  14. I can see it. I don't think it has anything to do with "quality" either. Think about it, if you got offered a job and said you would accept it and then got offered one that you thought was better, you would take that new offer. To extend your metaphor.................it would involve "quality" issues of integrity IF you had been actively pursuing others to follow you into your new "job" and then left them adrift because your personal situation offered you a late upgrade (in your mind)................. No it wouldn't, you do what is best for you, dont you? Honestly can't say.............you'd LIKE to think you would have enough integrity to follow through on a commitment, but the reality is................until each one of us is in that position, it's pure speculation............. In Westerkamp's case, I'm still betting he's N

  17. Everything about this kid is quality. I just don't seem him reneging on his Husker commitment, especially after serving as a de facto recruiter the last 6 months.............
  18. OK, thanks for the link................I can't believe I totally blanked that out. btw............loved the Nee quote.........“Whatever they said I did, I didn’t do,” Nee said........... As for Doc, I do remember Alonzo Edwards as being a little raw, but looked to have potential. I probably forgot the whole deal because if you are going to get the negative publicity by dealing with AAU guys, it would be fitting to at least get some production...............
  19. one pretty big factor is probably the out going staff and their feelings and connections to the school, when Callahan and his staff got dumped by Nebraska they probably just said, "screw it, we're done here", the current OSU staff LOVES OSU and probably has no problem waiting for their other/future opportunities until their job is done, how long they are under contract until may also play into it, even though it's a huge advantage, it's allowable under NCAA rules so there's nothing wrong with it, and I can't believe I've never heard of this before, it is obviously the best of both worlds for the program and is just a smart move, nothing more, nothing less... at this point, Meyer and only one other coach (?) are the only additions to the current OSU staff, not quite the two complete staffs that has been represented in the media thus far, the waiver says that they CAN have two complete staffs, and maybe at some point they will have that, but as of right now it's just Meyer his new QB coach, similar to when Michigan hired Rodriguez, who came to Ann Arbor on his own while everyone else on his staff prepared for the Oklahoma game and coached in the game, after which some of them joined him in Ann Arbor... Ahhhh...........that makes things a little clearer..................thanks...............
  20. Anyone who has dabbled in Rocky Mountain Oysters wouldn't make much of a distinction............
  21. That's probably true.................. But................Doc's style may help us more than before in the B!G because there are lot of slow-down offenses and perhaps his defense can steal a few we wouldn't expect.........
  22. Relieved Slauson was able to participate after that meanie Suh picked on him so much in practice...............
  23. The Mentalist is a good show............and it's always good to get a Husker reference......................but of the thousands of clips available, they have to show the USC game.................??? (Obviously to showcase USC........before the penalties)
