  1. If true, could it be a move to prevent JP from moving on...............??
  2. Best screamer since Harry met Sally.......................
  3. To me the worth of trying to establish a true champion................even if moving to a playoff is not in OUR best interests...............it IS in the best interests of the sport.......(jmho).............
  4. Agreed. The other thing that would help Doc a ton(recruiting wise) that TO would veto in a heartbeat, is hiring an assistant with strong AAU ties. Look at programs that were have nots, and not a traditional power in hoops, their head coaches have gone out and got assistants with these ties. Hell even some big time programs have this connection. A move like this would increase the talent here at NU easily, whether it was coached up or allowed to stay on the floor after one turnover is another story. Agree with all that. But the AAU is such a cesspool, I doubt T.O. would ever condone going that route, (especially for an assistant..............see Kansas St) I think the reason T.O. sticks with Doc is precisely because he has shied away from that...........(instead opting for multiple Euro's with only 1 good foot). Wasn't Doc tied to an AAU guy in Houston this offseason though? Nothing came of it, but I wouldn't exactly say he has shied away from it. If so, I don't recall it..................got any details...........??

  6. An oddity to this series................ We have played them 4 consecutive years (won the first 3), but we were in the Big 12 the first 3. Now, we are in the B!G and THEY are moving to the Big 12.....................ironic (if not overly interesting).............
  7. Comparing scores...............I believe we both beat Florida Gulf Coast by 1. Might come down to home court...............we have not been a great road team......(vast understatement) We really need to win these last 3 non-conference games...............
  8. I'm seeing this word a lot lately. It doesn't really apply here. This is a business, and these coaches aren't buying into the fandom that we hold. We have loyalty. The coaches have jobs. In their profession, if they can get a promotion and make more money, they would be fools to stay at any school based on loyalty. Those of us who work for someone else (as in, we don't own our own businesses), would any of you stay at your current position if you were offered a better position, better title, half again or twice as much money, and the chance to further your career? I know I'd be gone from my current job in two weeks if that opportunity came along. Well stated...............
  9. Neither party has much traction on “morality” issues. Fwiw……..the “affair while wife dying” myth has largely been discredited (by his own family), but has taken on a life of it’s own and is accepted as truth by those who want it to be so. http://www.creators....d-straight.html Like him or hate him, he has more pure intellect and ideas than anyone in either party. And, shoots from the lip so spontaneously that he earns a rep as a loose cannon. The idea that Republican insiders are embracing him is ludicrous. The Rhinos are scared to death of losing their power and want the status quo as much as the dems
  10. rationale for the de-commit.............??
  11. Hope I have posted this in the correct venue............ Just a short video reminding us about Nebraska and it's history................
  12. I vote bum. Abrasive personality, unfettered ego, and disingenuous to the nth degree. Reports today indicate that he hated his time in KC. That he just bought a horse farm in Ocala, Florida (to be near his son). That he likely needs additional surgery so he won't be able to recruit much initially. That Muschamp heard it not from Charlie, but while on a recruiting visit. If he couldn't win at Notre Dame with their publicity machine and fawning network(s)...............why doe an A.D. at Kansas believe he will produce at a basketball school? With his underwhelming personal grace?? Of course, when he fails (and I predict it will be one of the greatest coaching mis-hires of recent memory), he will fall back on the caveat that Turner left a bare cupboard. eh.........kind of like what TG inherited.
  13. Saw the highlight on the news. Guess I was hoping it was a little more thunder. Oh, it was such big news it is the BIG picture on the front page of the Sports section. Yeah, it happened and the crowd loved it (even though it could have been more dramatic). You'd think Diaz would feed off the crowd and dunk more often (and I actually asked Doc about that on his radio show last year) and he said that they encourage it but for whatever reason Diaz doesn't follow through. The only other highlight last night was we actually won the opening tip and the crowd was stunned. I think we should just defer to the start of the second half and start on defense...............
  14. Seconded. Excellent book. Been plugging it to anyone who would listen for a long time................Really exposes the sordidness of the whole system..................
  15. Wow.....................shareholders in area buffets must hold a LOT of sway with the athletic department...................
  16. I went ahead and played them out for you on paper and I came up with LSU vs Alabama in the final. Problem...not solved!! Sure it is solved.............................who gets to the final is not so important as the OPPORTUNITY for legitimate contenders to take a swing. And, those games would undoubtedly generate a TON more interest if played within the confines of a tourney..........even if using the bowls as venues........... Well here's about a third of your "legitimate contenders" right here... # 21 So Miss # 23 West Virginia Unranked Arkansas State Unranked Northern Illinois Unranked Louisiana Tech Meanwhile...not even in the tournament... # 6 Arkansas # 9 South Carolina # 12 Baylor # 13 Michigan # 14 Oklahoma # 16 Georgia # 17 Michigan State # 19 Houston # 20 Nebraska Yeah...problem solved!! Legitimate contenders (like politicians) are always somewhat in the eye of the beholder........................I'm not suggesting the wizards of smart might not have to invoke a few tweaks to get it more palatable, but (imho), it would be a vast improvement over the boondoggle now masquerading as a "championship".......

  18. Also hoping there are multiple games on. And, look for the pesky Erstadts to collect the 2nd B!G conference title for the Huskers in our first year.
  19. Good question............it is mostly the Bowls (and their incredibly greedy self promoters/executives) but the BCS is a hapless enabler.........................
  20. Just to clarify, I believe it is 'LMAO', for 'Laughing My Ass Off'. That is, unless the Lake Monticello Owners' Association or the Locomotive Maintenance Owners' Association has something to do with Bo's comments--were they sponsoring his presser, by chance? I think you have inadvertently stepped on the Lower Manhattan Organization of Artists.......................
  21. That is capitalism. I am not against capitalism, and neither is Moore. I find his movies entertaining. I voted for him, because his opponents nauseated me more than he did. I read Audacity of Hope, so my already low expectations were not met. I'm not against capitalism either. I just like my documentaries to well . . . document things. (Like Ken Burns for example. I could watch his stuff all day.) I can't stomach the oafish M. Moore, but a sliver of common ground here. I'm watching Burn's Prohibition series now and it might be as good as anything he's done.
  22. Not trying to get in a pissing match, but who has Nebraska beaten thats so great? Michigan St? Great win and congrats but thats 1. If a 16 point loss to a top 10 team in the nation on the road is getting curb stomped, then what do you call your losses vs Wisconsin and Michigan?? You are correct. We have ONE quality win. Luckily, that total will double on Jan 2nd.
  23. My friends in Texas rave about Armstrong throwing the ball. He doesn't have to be a burner to keep defenses honest. I, for one, am tired of us trying to manufacture throwers. Armstrong is not a project. He is a QB. Fuller is an athlete who can reek damage wherever we put him.
  24. If the folks who are content with the current system would read the quickie book (available for FREE at you local library).........."Death to the BCS", where they chronicle the stupefying and myriad ways it has corrupted college football, I'm guessing they might re-think their position. I have never read a book that had me so p*ssed off so quickly and for so long.
