    Ran distance events in track and wrestled varsity in high school. Ran cross country in college. Learned the game of basketball in intramural at college and played many basketball tournaments, city leagues and noon ball at the local YMCA till I was 65. Started running sprints at seniors meets around the country about 9 years ago. I have 7 grandkids that I love dearly.

  1. One thing about college and pro basketball I'd like to change. I see a lot of guards dribbling with a defender along side. The defender is making minimal contact but as they get close to the rim the dribbler suddenly collides with the defender....sing him as a brake then shoots a short jumper. The foul is called 99% of the time against the defender when he didn't initiate the contact. Even though he is still moving that space he occupies should be his and not the dribbler.

      I know this was supposed to be addressed in a rule change before the season started but it seems like the refs are ignoring it.

      On the other hand, refs already over-use the charging call. It goes both ways.

      I'm no expert but during one game I was watching they explained that if the dribbler gets ahead of the defender (closer to the basket) then it is a foul on the defender. If the dribbler isn't closer to the basket and pushes off the defender it's a foul on the dribbler.
