  1. Argument with my son tonight. The discussion was if Westy had caught the ball before it crossed the endzone but his feet had stayed in the endzone when he came down would it still be a TD? I know Westy did reach back with the ball to make sure but if he had been tackled with his feet in the endzone but the ball out of the endzone would it still be 6? I say no, son says yes.Discuss.

What shyndy is saying is if you catch a ball on the sidelines, the ball can be two yards out of bounds (in the air) and as long as you can snag it while keeping your feet in bounds it's a catch. Not sure why the same wouldn't be said for TD's. It's the same for the back of the end zone- if the balls out the back, the receiver jumps and grabs it, as long as he comes down with two feet in it's a TD?

That is the explicit rule, yes. You're not sure why the goal line is different? Because the rules explicitly say it is different. I don't see why this is even a discussion, go look at the rules and interpretations.

The ball has to cross the goal line to be a TD if he would have only had feet in he endzone it would not have counted unless the ball broke the plain.
