    Ran distance events in track and wrestled varsity in high school. Ran cross country in college. Learned the game of basketball in intramural at college and played many basketball tournaments, city leagues and noon ball at the local YMCA till I was 65. Started running sprints at seniors meets around the country about 9 years ago. I have 7 grandkids that I love dearly.

  1. It was a rough day yesterday at Nebraska Kearney.  4.6 million dollars in budget cuts throughout the university forced them to cut $450K from the Athletic Dept.  Adios mens baseball, tennis and golf.

      Sure hate to see that happen.  But things are rough all over.  And I don't say that jokingly.  Private companies routinely cut hours and/or layoff employees.  So I don't know why everyone gets up in arms in the rare instances when it happens to city, state or federal employees.  Are their jobs more important than private sector jobs?  /gets off soapbox.  waits for resident bureaucrats to show me the error of my ways.

      As a whole, the University system already absorbed a good chunk of the state  budget issues recently.  When Ricketts decided more was needed, it seemed disproportionate compared to what was being asked of other state departments.
