    Ran distance events in track and wrestled varsity in high school. Ran cross country in college. Learned the game of basketball in intramural at college and played many basketball tournaments, city leagues and noon ball at the local YMCA till I was 65. Started running sprints at seniors meets around the country about 9 years ago. I have 7 grandkids that I love dearly.

  1. I was just listening to the Husker Game Show on the radio while I was driving.  We often make fun of anyone who says that refs have been over zealous on calls against us and underwhelming on calls against other teams that we play.  They had one of their stat guys do some research.  He found it has been 22 games since a Nebraska opponent was called for holding on a pass play that was accepted by us.  The last one was Illinois in 2016.  I'm curious if any other schools have even a 10 game stretch.

      That could be a misleading stat. A holding call on 3rd down (where I would think you are most likely to get one) will almost always be declined.

       

      One big reason we don't get many holding calls is that for the past few years our guys haven't fought through the hold. The refs aren't going to call it unless you're working to get through it.

      Regardless of down, that's a pretty high star.  A lot of it is discipline no doubt, but again, it's a stigma thing and a "what are they looking for/watching" thing.  They watch us closer because they know we f#&% up.
