  1. And if he "gets chills throughout his body": ... LOL, @Moiraine. You just beat me to it!!
  2. Heard him say that as well. I loved his answer to the question of "who might be your fourth QB option": "Well, let's see - We have Martinez. We've got Bunch. And we've got Masker. So after that, do you want to go in?" LOL
  3. But in reality, he really wasn't the s#!t in Beck's offense. Because that offense more or less telegraphed running plays on 1st & 2nd down, which good defenses keyed in on and punished us for by blitzing and daring Martinez to throw...which he really didn't do very well. But I didn't mean for that to fork into a long and pointless discussion about past teams. The point is, as others have pointed out, this offensive system has Martinez covered.
  4. RRRRRROFL, +1. One edit above though...
  5. -Tom Osborne heavily recruits Scott Frost to play at Nebraska. -Frost rejects his offer and goes to Stanford. -Frost turns to Osborne in a time of need for advice; Osborne advises him to stay at Stanford. -Frost rejects Osborne's advice and transfers to Nebraska. What a selfish, disloyal, misguided decision of young Scott Frost. If only he had someone to give him the right advi...oh...wait...
  6. One thing that I'm noticing about the majority of posters on this board is really fascinating. Many of you take Frost's words verbatim as gospel itself and then attempt to decipher in retrospect whether he was "being truthful." I've seen that now come up in multiple threads. Maybe stop taking Frost's words so literally and putting them under such scrutiny. Do you actually think it didn't cross his mind that Gebbia might transfer? I don't believe that for a second. And that's not "calling Frost a liar." That's how coaches - pretty much all coaches - talk to the media.
  7. You mean you don't have a crystal ball? Interesting...
  8. Me neither, for sure. And I don't think he was being dishonest at all. Maybe the race had been very tight through the first half of fall camp, but towards the beginning of last week Martinez began to start to separate himself a bit. I fully believe the race had been every bit as tight as Frost had said it was and careful deliberation was absolutely necessary, but the more they saw of the two guys, Martinez emerged clearly towards the middle/end of last week. I don't think it even matters now, though.
  9. This is just my personal take and I could be wrong, but after listening to Frost speak at the presser this morning when he said his mind was actually made up around the middle of last week, reading between the lines it seems to me that there wasn't any kind of actual "tie" or a situation where it felt too close to call. I think by the end of last week with the staff voting unanimously for Martinez, it's clear that he's the better route to go. But I do see your argument.
  10. "Wave of the future, wave of the future, wave of the future, Wave of the future, wave of the future, wave of the future, Wave of the future, wave of the future, wave of the future, Wave of the future, wave of the future, wave of the future, Wave of the future, wave of the future, wave of the future, Wave of the future, wave of the future, wave of the future..."
  11. Your post is so ridiculous that it could almost make me think you're trolling. I actually hope you're trolling...
  12. Wait. Wait, wait, wait... What?
  13. I'm not sure what you mean. Play him four games and then see if you want to go with Gebbia for game five if you didn't love the results of Martinez's first four games? What makes naming Martinez the starter a mistake? He was a hugely recruited, highly athletic QB recruit. Frost said that at UCF a year ago he was their #1 recruit prospect but that he didn't think that UCF had the "pull" to land him. I don't understand what makes Martinez getting named any kind of a shock or mistake. Both players were freshmen; you've got to choose one, and Verduzco said early in the spring that he doesn't play two guys simultaneously.
  14. Totally agree. Unless I'm missing something, in addition to Masker, Andrew Bunch is still on the team.
  15. I love how fans treat these kids differently than they'd treat the same scenario in the free market. If a big promotion came around at work that you and one other very qualified employee were fighting for and he got it and not you, nobody would spite you for weighing better options with a different company. You make the decisions that put yourself in the best position to be successful. The same concepts surely apply to talented young collegiate athletes.
  16. Frost was just asked this as one of the last questions in the presser. He said, "What, do you want me to just draw up the play for you so you can put it on the Internet for Akron." LOL.
  17. I've been working on a Jeep project for the last month. Hoping by Saturday morning I'll have my first phase of welding done on it and can get enough of it put back together to be able to fire it up for the first time in over a month. Probably cruise it down 'O' to downtown in the early afternoon and weave around the stadium and the Haymarket to take in the atmosphere for a bit. No tickets for this one though. We're going over to friends' house to watch it.
  18. LOL. You guessed right on a 50/50 odds toss-up. It doesn't make you Nostradamus.
  19. Are you having a specific discussion with someone in this thread? Nobody's talking about Gebbia leaving. Frost said Friday that we'll "need both guys" this season, but the general consensus seems to be that there will be no plan of rotating the two guys. Martinez is the guy. Gebbia is the backup. Verduzco said back in the spring he doesn't play two guys, he goes with one.
  20. Yep. The longer Frost waited, the more it felt like it would be Martinez. This kid has so much potential.
  21. No, I don't think so. I believe he's doing it to push both guys as hard as he can - which pays big dividends very quickly for the team as we prepare for the season - and also keeps the motivation level high for the guy who doesn't get the job that he can work hard and change the coaches' minds as the season goes on if the need arises.
  22. Just as food for thought, in his full post-practice interview today he essentially said the winner of the battle will be the guy that creates the fewest mistakes and makes good decisions. So if that's Gebbia, Gebbia will be the guy. I do think it'll be Martinez, just as a complete guess. Pic or it didn't happen.
  23. We love you, Tre. You'll always be a Husker, and a damn good one at that.
