  1. I wouldn't argue with that at all. I don't care if a million of the bastards get killed. BUT there is no reason or need to kill them in a less humane way than is possible. I've got no problem with Gangwish killing that coon with a wrench. That was the tool he had available to accomplish the job that needed to be done. I won't even get into the fact it wouldn't have been necessary if he had used his head first. He's young and made a mistake....it happens. But some of these backwards folk coming in here and bragging how they kill and torture just for fun.......sorry, that crosses the line in my yuppie book. If they're a nuisance, kill 'em, club 'em whatever but do it because they're a nuisance and need to be killed not because you get your jollies by doing it. That's just sick. Um, I don't recall anyone mentioning torture. They are a nuisance and I have fun hunting them. If that's disturbing to you, go hug a tree.
  2. Yep JJ you're a yuppie! Congrats! I don't skin them, takes too much time. But I have, and it's fun to skin, stretch, and dry them. It's a craft. But I do kill them, for fun. $12 is side benefit
  3. He's suspended for being a dumbass. And, please explain to a fellow hunter, what in the hell is the point of raccoon hunting? I guess that's your opinion. My opinion he isn't a dumbass. He was bored and found something to do that yuppies and town folk don't understand. I could care less that he posted a picture of it. Guys post pictures of themselves with deer, turkeys, other game when they get them don't they? Should they be suspended? What about guys that make a bad shot on a deer and end up cutting it's throat? Suspend them too? Growing up, we not only hunted coons, possums, coyotes, hell we'd trap them and even catch them with our bare hands. Why? Because it is fun! Shoot, we caught a coon, took pictures with it, and tamed it. Small town, not much to do, you grow up finding things to do. The point of coon hunting? Well....right now, they are $12 a piece sold to my fur buyer, $14 if I skin them myself. $18 for a black squirrel. Badgers will bring more and so will coyotes. Using a call, you can make $1500-$2000 in a pretty short time if you work at it. Yes, he's a dumbass. I highly doubt Gangwish was out to make a few bucks, he did something stupid and rage killed an animal because he was dumb. I'm far from a yuppie or a town folk, and I'm convinced what he did merited punishment. Not for the act, for the reasons I've already given. His selfie is about the furthest thing from people taking pictures with a trophy buck. Lincoln isn't a small town. Couldn't care less if Lincoln isn't a small town. Doesn't mean he don't still have small town roots and habits. No, he wasn't out to make money, but you yourself being the hunter you claim to be, had asked me the purpose of coon hunting so I gave you the facts about it. And no, a pic with a buck isn't any different than one with a coon if you grew up living that lifestyle, no different at all. The fact you're convince what he did merits any punishment at all says yes, you are a yuppie.

  5. What? That he's a man? Ha, no chance
  6. Wow. The are a lot of pu&&ies on this board. It's an effin coon. I don't care if he took a selfie with it and I couldn't care less if he beat it with a shop towel. For dbag Eichorst to suspend him for it because PETA is absolutely bs. I suppose all the yuppies on this board will tell me now that we have a team rule that says you can't kill coons and take selfies with them? Just exactly what is he being suspended for? Highly doubt there's a rule against killing coons and there isn't a law against it either. Our AD is exactly what Bo said he is and he just keeps proving it. And all you defending Eichorst make me vomit in my mouth. You obviously didn't grow up in a rural area where coon hunting is a popular past times for kids and hell for that matter, adults. I literally just got in from taking my sons coon calling/hunting. And guess what, clubs are cheaper than bullets! Oh no, now everyone will condemn me for killing a poor defensless animal. Oh well, another $12 for my kids college fund.
  7. Maybe he didn't want to damage his draft stock. Sorry, but he's been way more hype than production.
  8. Jesus people! What do you want from a guy that had his coach fired several days ago and just met the new coach? Was Gangwish supposed to do cart wheels and sing songs after a 10 minute meeting? Seriously? Saying he's not with the program and wishing him gone over a damn quote posted by someone? Guarantee there isn't a more loyal player you'll find. Guarantee he meant nothing bad by the quote, that is just how Gangwish is. In fact, if you knew him, you'd be impressed by the quote. He always has a positive, hard working attitude. He has always had the "make the best of the situation" attitude. And he WASNT the only player that didn't like the communication by email. Several others stated it too. Man, you guys that jump to those conclusions are acting like a$$holes.
  9. So true. The reality is there was no chance we'd land any of the big names floating around, but like you said, it's funny how many of the Bo-Leavers are freaking out. Hey, Bo is gone, anyone has to be better, right? Regardless, I'll support the new guy and the players. However, I will admit I was REALLY hoping we'd see a return of fullbacks, tight ends, option, and sweeps, but gonna have to settle I guess.
  10. Oh, I think we'll be in good shape no matter what. Pelini is gone, anybody we get will take us to the promise land. We just have to sift through the dozens of championship coaches waiting in line.
  11. It doesn't matter who Nu hires. Whoever it is, the faithful will bitch about it and will bitch for them to be fired every year were not undefeated. I'm sure coaches are lining up at the revolving door for the job.
  12. Hope Briscoe punches Trev right in the face. For UNO
  13. That's disappointing. Think it's coached that way?Sorry I have to disagree. Yes it is coached that way at a Lot of schools all levels. You'll also notice narrow or wide splits sometimes depending on what block they're trying to execute. If anyone wants an example of why someone that doesn't understand blocking schemes and fundamentals shouldn't post about it.... Why should he not post about his observations so we can discuss them?Posting observation and asking OK. But stating a reason a player shouldn't be used to execute a play because of lack of knowledge, no. He stated it as an example as it was fact when in fact it was uninformed

  15. Easy to say when you're not in that situation. Everyone thinks money can make everything tolerable. Well sorry, but glad you aren't a coach because you'd be in for the wrong reasons. Do people really think that coaches do what they do because of the money? They don't. They love the game, know the game, and can't play anymore. The closest thing they can get to that high is coaching. Sure money helps, but its not the backbone of what they do But they should also know this comes with the territory and help their family understand that as well. If this isn't a death threat or some credible threat of bodily harm, then somebody either needs to learn to let things roll off their shoulder or find another profession. I will agree with this. Someone mentioned this has got blown out of proportion and it has. I have no idea what was done or said. If it is just people saying things or whatever, you are correct. I just went out on a limb and guessed it was worse due to Beck refusing to talk. If it was something minor, then yes, it comes with the territory.

  17. Exactly. They would and of course if he choses to not say anything people complain. Seriously, if he was to publicly say anything about it, the problem could very well get worse. Is that a risk a man wants to take for his family? And for those that brush it off and think he should deal with it, it comes with the job...What if it gets worse? What if there are threats? You know, that has happened to coaches before. Heck Richrod had a death threat on a family member or maybe himself, can't remember. And that was because they were pissed he was LEAVING! I'm in no way condoning this behavior. But it's incredibly unlikely it's going to get worse. I also highly doubt this is the first time it's happened. And, if he's really honestly threatened, the Lincoln police would be the people I would tell, not the Lincoln media. I know you're not condoning it, BUT how do you know it's unlikely it gets worse? If you're in those shoes do you brush it off like that? I doubt it. As far as threatened, I didn't say he was because I have no idea. But I do know for a fact that often times when a response is given, the behavior gets worse. Basic human psychology back up with case after case of when that has held true. People can sit on here and brush it off and be pissed he won't talk to media, whatever, but unless you've been there you can't even guess at what he's feeling or how much worse or even better the situation will get. Well, my experience with an employee I had to let go and him spending the weekend threatening me isn't at all the same, but I have been in that situation. And I'm fairly confident it's not going to get worse for Tim Beck is because he's a public figure in Lincoln and he has numerous resources some don't to prevent any situation like that from escalating to a point of tragedy. It's just not going to happen. Coaches get harassed in football crazed towns on all levels and have for a long time. That's incredibly sh**ty, and I'd never ever do no matter my feelings toward a coach, but I'm also not a crazy a-hole. Beck has a hard job that is likely cluttered with a lot of crap. But he's also very well compensated for it, so he unfortunately has to learn to roll with it. It would happen at other places. Look at the crap Watson took here and now look at his situation in Austin. It's inescapable. You're right, your situation is not even remotely the same. Your's was one person, you knew them, and knew there weren't others, and also had a pretty good idea of what that person was capable of. Not even close to the same. I agree, it does happen elsewhere, but it is far from the norm as you want to think it is. If it was the norm, you'd hear much more about it. Why do these incidents make the news? Because it's NEWs, not what you hear everyday happening. As far as the compensation...Many, maybe most people really far overestimate what money means to coaches. Do they look for the highest paying job available? Sure, but success and happiness have a lot of say there too. Most coaches don't get into coaching for money. They get in because they have a desire to compete, to help others compete, to win. That is true at any level. Let's not pretend this phenomenon is a big story. We only know about it because we are big Husker fans. It could very well be happening in say, Gainesville, but it's out of our media loop. This story isn't cracking the wire outside of Nebraska. Uh, it made Nebraska news. It makes news where ever it happens. Google picks up news from every state. I believe there's 128 FBS schools, all of which have media contacts. If it happens everywhere why does Google only pick up a few incidents of it happening? Is there unhappiness with coaches everywhere at some time? Sure. But, no, not every fan base has rogue, rabid fans that go after coaches families on a regular basis. I'm not saying it's national news at all, and in fact, I don't know the details. If these rogue fans of ours shouted some things, said some things, ok, whatever, goes with the territory. But my belief is if the coach is concerned enough about it that he doesn't want to talk to the media, then my guess is he feels it's more than that. I can't blame him myself.

  20. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/24052252/report-police-called-after-texans-fan-harasses-matt-schaub-at-home http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3186883 http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/sports/2011/03/11/rumblings-3-11-art-gl0bu32m-1.html So, yes, those fans (Nebraska and otherwise) who do crap like this are scumbags. But this isn't a problem unique to Nebraska and people should stop acting like these idiots speak for the whole of the fanbase. I agree with what you said except, 1 is an NFL coach so a little different, not much, but a little. One a player, and then Herby, whatever he is. I know it happens at other schools, but seriusly, it DOESN't happen way more often and at a majority of schools, and it should never happen here, or anywhere for that matter. Anyone that thinks it doesn't affect coaches either already here or who would consider coming here, has blinders on and GUARANTEE has never walked in those shoes and if confronted with the situation would most likely cower.
