  1. I keep reading this like it's a telegram. Lazy. And funny that both of us know what a telegram even is.
  2. Clemson. 2nd team behind NU I pull for. Wife Clemson grad. Don't like Urban.
  3. This from Darrelle Revis, Tampa Bay Pro bowler on David. He saved his highest praise for Lavonte David, and he believes strongly that one of the 2011 NFL Draft’s steals (Doug Martin was another one of those steals in that draft) deserves a Pro Bowl berth this season. “I’m telling you, if Lavonte doesn’t get a Pro Bowl nod this year, then something is going on. The voting must be rigged or something. I know that’s a whole other subject, but that’s a word and I’m allowed to use that word.’’ Oh, and the above quote was from September 2013......... http://nflspinzone.com/2013/09/19/darrelle-revis-strongly-believes-lavonte-david-pro-bowler/ David got screwed. Pure BS!
  4. 100% in agreement here. This year showed a lot of what Cross lacks. My biggest thing that I can't stand about Cross, is his lack of field vision. Newby just didn't get enough carries to doubt his abilities, but when he was given the chance to shine, he fell on his face with ball security issues. Still really wish that Cross could become "that guy". To date, not enough speed to be a home run threat, but would love it if he ran "angry". He is a hoss. Not as fast as Gurley, but if he ran with authority, he could be very good at getting tough yards and possibly breaking some and would be scary for a DB to get in the open field. Seems to run "slower" than he is and slightly timid for such a solid guy. Again, he could be a guy that we could really use in the later stages of the game to really lean on and pound the DL. Can't remember the last time NU had a big effective back. Still hoping Cross becomes that guy. Seems like we have speedy, shifty, quick etc, but not that bruiser. Also, as evidenced by RB's in the past under Bo and Beck, pass pro and blocking is huge. IMO, they would go with the better blocker over the better back. (close in abilities)
  5. Over Imani? Not happening. He would've played THIS year if he was THAT good. I can see him playing more/as much as Newby, but Cross? No. Plus Ameer isn't going pro. He needs another year of proof that he can hold onto the ball to boost his draft stock. You know Taylor ASKED for the RS right? Cross isn't an every down back, and barely showed that he could be a short yardage this year as well. Its very possible that Taylor becomes our #2 back, especially with the praise that he gets from Brown. IF AA goes pro, the RB position is wide open IMO. Neither Newby nor Cross did enough, IMO, in their limited touches to be a clear favorite going into next year. I really never watched either one and said "wow" this year. <img class="UMSRatingIcon" id="ums_img_tooltip" />
  6. Any chance Nate Gerry moves back to safety? Seems to have gotten lost in the improvement of the other LB's. With the new guys coming in and the RS's, unsure if he sees the field at LB. Could he play CB? Fast enough and big enough.
  7. Bo is also THE FIRST to do this when taking over a losing team and also one of only three to do it at his first HC job. The other 2.......... Dr Tom and Barry Switzer. Not bad company at all.
  8. A smart receiver will learn to "duck" to pick up the penalty. Leroy is a head hunting beast (not targeting) who plays angry. Reminds me of Assante. We need someone to roam the secondary that scares receivers.
  9. Would love to see us, but very doubtful IMO. If we are, I will be surprised.
  10. Reading an article this morning and AA was thrown a softball ref declaring for the NFL. To paraphrase, said he was concentrating on this game. Didn't commit either way. I know he is throwing his name in to be evaluated. Another 100 yrd game today sure didn't hurt as well as being in the same realm as Green and Rozier (who was on family feud the other night). Thoughts on whether he goes. Dependent upon round projections? Dependent on wanting to win the conference/Doak/in Hypesman talk etc...
  11. I have been down on our S&C this year, but have to say that we looked fresher in the 4th than UGA today. Watching Stanford, reminded me of article on their S&C program. Good stuff. Unsure if we do any of this, but it speaks volumes to Stanford's success ref fitness and injury prevention. http://www.nytimes.c...ength.html?_r=0
  12. that's the point though. people complain about us not playing to win the game, but playing not to lose. then you have an opportunity to keep the ball and finish the game, so you take the chance. the run would have got stuffed, they were selling out to stop it, that is why there were two wide receivers wide open. ta can make that throw, he just did not there. it was the right call if you want coaches who call games to win and not just to not lose. More often than not TA in that situation has not come up big. The run could have worked, they were exhausted on D. A double was churning up yards. Im all for playing for the win but gambling like that was not the right call. A pick gives them the game. An incompletion stops the clock and gives them life which it did. When your 8-4 on the year and have dropped 3 straight bowls, you try to take the lead and the clock with you. Anything but a catch could have given them the game. We were fortunate. For all the complaints with S&C (I have some issues with it) we seemed much fresher at the end. Their DL was worn down and a strong dose of AA would have broken them IMO
  13. That was questionable, and it was 3rd and only 4 not 6. I don't understand how the ball is not in your best player's hands in that situation. Give it to Ameer and let him make a play. As my grandpa always said, you dance with the one that brought you. 4 yards is even more clear you call the run. Like I said, even if your short, you still killed a minute or more by the time they get the ball back. Beck still seems oblivious to these: 1) Setting up one play to run another 2) Calling plays/tempo to better manage the clock 3) Calling plays that will help the D ie eat the clock to allow them to rest 4) Calling plays to the strength of the team 5) Great calls with wrong personnel ie shuffle pass to Newby. I know he was completely over looked by D, BUT it was his first play of the bowl with the game basically on the line 6) He is barely a jack of all trades and is a master of none. We need an identity IMO 7) The TE's can actually catch passes
  14. ST is non-existent. We don't set up a punt return nor attempt to block them. That phase of the game is completely lost on this staff. Our punting needs to dramatically improve as well. TE's are eligible receivers. I wish that Beck would realize this. We have had some with huge potential ie Reed, McNeill etc.... and none have panned out. They get completely lost in this jeckyll/hyde offense we run. They could be HUGE. UGA's TE caught almost 1/3 of his season total today, in one game and we really had no answer. He catches that one at the end and we lose. Great win against a pre-season top 5 SEC team. Weather, injuries or what ever excuse people want to throw out, we beat them in basically their back yard. Again, great win. We really have the potential to be very good on D. Just need to realize that TE's are our kryptonite as are the RB wheel routes from the back field. A perfect way to enter the off season IMO.
  15. Would love to see him get with a legit QB coach ASAP. Don't wait until year 3 (IIRC) like Martinez. Thought he played very well. Didn't get down, ran hard. More practice and he will get much better.
  16. The only coach to do it when taking over a losing team and joins only 2 others at their first HC job. The other 2? Dr. Tom and Barry Switzer.
  17. I don't think he understands what his players can and can't do. That shovel pass was a great idea, but why with Newby? Why haven't we been passing to Ameer all season long with those little passes? Why was Newby the pitchman against Michigan State? Why does he continue to pass when we need to burn clock? He just can't manage games. Beck has some serious issues with his play calling. He needs to see how UGA uses their TE and those RB routes in their passing game. The shufle pass was a great idea, horrible to use Newby.
  18. Run, Run and WR end around. UGA would bite on fake to AA
