  1. We have had problems with mobile QB's since Bo has been here. I do think that after the debacle that was UCLA, stubborn BO is gone. he has been replaced by a guy who has decided to change things in order to win. Not saying he didn't want to win, but realized playing a D he "knew" and wanted might result in a loss. I think Bo will actually devise a game plan that actually depends on slowing/limiting Millers abilities to hurt us with his feet or arm. Much like teams will stack the box with 8 to stop Martinez, I expect some of that against OSU. More nickel and dime to get the speed on the field and avoid the mismatch of a LB against their RB,TE on drag routes/screens and to have more speed in the open field against Miller. The key is to get him off balance in the pocket and pressure him when he rolls out. We have to get in his face, rush him and hit him; HARD. No matter how good our DB's play, if Miller is free to scramble in the backfield to gain time he will be able to throw on us. Miller can "scramble" and extend plays with his feet. To date, IMO, Martinez can not. We need to also come out on O and drive the field, pound the ball and score on the opening drive. set the tone and settle down. Finally force a team to adjust to us. Beck also needs to call another great game. Keep Martinez comfortable and call plays to the strength of the team. I would also go up tempo and get their D off balance, look for the mismatches and exploit the hell out of them. If they can not stop the plays, keep them. Again, force them to stop us. Get the ball to the play makers in space. We have so many, it will be hard to game plan for them all. Use them all.
  2. Huge J Lo fan as well. Dude put the team on his back and carried them for sure. Don't know why he is not more of a fan fave.
  3. IIRC, home field advantage is usually worth 5-7 points so basically the books have it even. Will be interesting to see the line move.
  4. 4-3 as a base, but will run nickel and dime against "spread" teams or perceived passing downs. I would imagine more nickel and dime against OSU.
  5. Until I saw Bo and Paps field a completely different D in the 2nd half against Wisky, I would have to agree with the above. That change and intensity really shocked me. Something I haven't seen in quite some time. The fact that Bo made the comment to the press about him still knowing something about defense shows me Bo has forgotten more than I will ever know. The DL made up of 4 DE's was a thing of brilliance on 3rd and long. Evans requesting to cover Abberderis, Randle wanting to get back in, Stein finally playing with intensity shows me something is going on with the D. Leadership is emerging. I really think that Bo has done some studying and realizes that to win the B1G and possibly the MNC, we will need to stop the mobile QB. There is no way that he can realistically think our standard D will work. It didn't last year when we had less overall talent IMO. Not to take away from David at all, but no Crick, Fonzie basically hurt all year etc.... I think we actually have the DB's in place to stay with Miller. Maybe we even spy this year. Put SJB on him or Evans or Cooper. I really expect Bo to show us something new, if nothing more to throw it in the face of the fans. Hey if disliking us (not saying he does) motivates him to do the old, "I'll show you", then so be it. Again, the D staff really impressed me last night and I think that the staff, team and fans learned a little bit last night that will pay dividends going forward.
  6. According to the LJS and Paps, Evans asked to cover Abbrederis in the 2nd half. Whether Wisky stopped calling his number or Evans shut him down, he was held to only 2 touches in the 2nd half. Great job by Evans stepping up and Paps allowing him to. 7. I I agree. Threw a new wrinkle that I am sure confused Wisky. Much like the stand up DL against MSU last year. I guess Bo does still have some tricks!
  8. I kind of shook my head at this as well. I know people love John P, but I'm not convinced that he is the right guy to be our DC. The first half we had guys running in and out seconds before the snap and they just did not look well coached. Mentioned last week the addition of wrist bands to help with quicker adjustments. Didn't use them at UCLA as staff didn't want to introduce too much new stuff. Last nigh announcer mentioned the team and sidelines being out of sync. Said Paps talked to the guys at the 2nd quarter (late) and implied that their wrist bands might have been different indicating the issues with "looking lost".
  9. Wisky is down this year. Guys made great adjustments at half and didn't get down. I credit them for that no doubt. We still need to improve. The reality is the guys who were getting owned in the first half were the same guys who kicked a$$ in the second. Our staff just needs to find away to make/get "these" guys to show up for 4 quarters.
  10. Positive. Saw the team get punched in the mouth, come back and win. Staff adjusted at the half, kids didn't quit, new Uni's, stadium sounded insane on tv etc...... As mentioned above, kids probably looked and saw the same areas of needed improvement as we and the staff do/did and figure they can come in and play immediately if not contribute in some capacity. I also look at the number of RB's who got touches (3) and receivers, see year two of the O and what it appears to be developing into and see that we are actually going to use more than just the #1 at the skill positions. Should help.
  11. Gotta keep winning. 20th seems fair.
  12. He freight trained folks and got a nice pancake on their LB. Opened some holes for Rex and Co. Kid is going to be good.
  13. Both those guys were lights out. Liked the motor on Borland, guy was everywhere and causing havoc. Abbrederris was all over as well and used very well. Would like NU to use Enunwa in the same way to get more mismatches like Abbrecadabra got last night.
  14. The announcers seemed to imply that it was from an issue with the wristbands not being "synced" between Paps and the D.
  15. If I am not mistaken, late in the 2nd quarter, the announcers said after one defensive series, Paps called the D over to look at their wrsitbands to make sure everyone was on the same page. Almost implied, they were off. second half surely showed that adjustments were working. Mentioned using the wrist bands last week, but no bringing them to UCLA so as not to "add something new" to soon. I guess it worked. Wish they could fix it prior to the field. Did anyone else get that impression as well?
  16. Mods, how do I delete my sky is falling posts. I only want the positive ones to stay! haha
  17. Great job Huskers. Great job. Great adjustments by the staff at half
