  1. Awesome thanks. That's what I was thinking on Reed. I couldn't remember if we had any LB's with numbers in the teens, so I was sort of confused which defense we were in. I thought our Nickel LB's were Newby and Rose-Ivey. Thanks. We seemed to be doing some different things with our rotations against Oregon but I couldn't quite figure it out. Perhaps it was a different set of guys when we went to the 30 front / cover 8 look. Originally it was Bando and Young that were the Nickel LBs. But that could have changed.
  2. Reed is the Dime back. He was in some against Oregon. Where he was lining up is similar to where our LBs line up at times. I don't think he's been in the rotation at the regular safety spot. I don't remember seeing Barry on defense except maybe late in those first two games. Dude is a BEAST on special teams, though.
  3. #11 on this list. Not too shabby.
  4. And it was also completely false, as I pointed out. So I'll take that as you just like to keep throwing out ridiculous accusations and then disappear when called on them. I didn't see that you asked a question. Are you talking about why we should be worried? I stated that originally. I just wonder if we're having to offer several more WRs because we're slipping with our top targets. You're free to think differently but it would be handy if you could argue against what I actually say rather than take it to some ridiculous exaggeration to try to convince yourself that I'm wrong.
  5. Are you going to answer my earlier question?
  6. I mean I don't know what else Williams is doing at this point besides twiddling his thumbs. Might as well be 'crootin. Not what I meant. I meant it seems like we're not so sure on our top targets. Not sure why you would take that as we are not so sure on our top targets. Until they sign no one is guaranteed. The process is to keep building relationships until the spot are all full. It does look like we have decided that it is a TOP priority to get a tall guy. However, continuing to look for top guys is not an indicator that we have missed with others. Man we have a staff that are showing signs that NU is a good destination for kids - now we want them to stop the process and wait for signing day? - have some faith!! Again with the strawman. It's you go-to move. Man you are funny. Where do you come up with the strawman? You might want to figure out it's definition before you come with some go to move idea. Thanks for the humor thou. No problem. Simply show me where I - or anyone - said we should "stop the process and wait for signing day." I'll hang up and wait for your answer. you were talking about how it seems we aren't so sure on our top WR targets and he said to have sone faith and wait it out, our coaches are just following the process. Seemed like a normal response to me. No straw men in sight So you're ignoring the part that I specifically quoted? nope I'll address it. He never said that anyone said we should stop the process. It was a hyperbole to how you were reacting to our strategy in WR recruiting right now. He never said that you said that, it was exaggerated take on what you were saying. Just because someone drops a sentence that no one actually said or was really inferring doesn't mean he is arguing with straw men, I just think you need to ease up a little If you think there is a distinction between an eaggerated take on what I was saying and a straw man argument, you must be who GBRFAN was laughing at earlier when he said people didn't know what a straw man argument was.
  7. I agree that would be better but that's not how others are doing it.
  8. Thanks, Bo. Rare thing to witness here - I agree with cm. We're on a good upswing, but we've got a long ways to go. The only part of this impressive by historical Nebraska standards was the MSU win, everything else is what we should be doing. Oregon still has sexy name recognition, but there's a good chance they don't finish ranked. UCLA was a lot like us vs Washington - they didn't want it nearly as much as we did and saw it as beneath them, to their detriment. Wins over Fresno and Wyoming are what they are, and the loss to Iowa...wait, I'm confused. Was Iowa a top 5 team or not? We can't credit them as that when it makes it sound good to us, and then talk about how they weren't that good when it makes them sound bad. One or the other, please. I'm excited and pleased and happy about where we're at. But it's entirely too premature to have any kind of discussion about being 'back' or having turned a corner. It definitely doesn't establish we've reached the promise land, but it does show we're headed in the right direction; we beat a ranked non conference opponent. Neither of the last two coaches did that, ever. Think about that for a minute. If that's not evidence that we're closer to where we want to go, then I'm not sure what is... You're not counting bowls? Each of the last two coaches faced only 2 ranked teams in the non-conference. So not a lot to derive from a stat like that, imo. Yeah, I think the stat should have been haven't beaten a ranked non-con opponent *at home*, which we hadn't done since Notre Dame in 2001. Ranked Non-Con Opponents Faced: 2014 - #24 USC - L 45-42 2013 - #23 Georgia - W 24-19 2013 - #16 UCLA - L 41-21 2012 - #7 Georgia - L 45-31 2009 - #22 Arizona - W 33-0 2007 - #1 USC - L 49-31 2006 - #10 Auburn - L 17-14 2002 - #25 Penn State - L 40-7 So Pelini was 2-2 against those teams, Cally was 0-2, Frank was 0-2 (since that Notre Dame win) and we lost to USC after Pelini was fired.
  9. Barfy ran out of other options and had to say something good about Nebraska. Long time coming.

  11. Agree with that. Plus a lot of recruits who have talent - especially speed - but don't get offered by the big three.

  13. So he's as underrated as Louisville's Lamar Jackson? Sure. Riley just said he had the best game on the DL.... You can argue with me all you want, but when the HC agrees, maybe you should too? Saying he played the best game does not contradict anything that anyone in this thread has said. Do you feel like even though he is doing his job he has hit his ceiling? Considering he is basically half-way (practice-wise) through his fifth and final year, yes, I think this is probably his ceiling. His ceiling is looking pretty decent this year. Like I said, he's a solid player. Plays hard. Is in the right spots (as far as I can tell). But he doesn't seem to win a lot of one-on-one battles straight up. He's gotten some nice stats but they've mostly been benefits of being in the right spot at the right time. Freedom has caused much more havoc in the backfield but he doesn't have the stats to show for it. As was mentioned, it was really Freedom's pass rush that forced Prokup into Dzuris so Ross got the stats but it was really Freedom that made the play. None of that is to say Dzuris is a bad player. He's solid but probably slightly above average at best. That will work for this year (it'll have to). But we need some more dynamic play at that spot going forward. So you'd rather he not be in correct position to make plays? Makes sense. Where does Mavric say this? You are making up what he is saying. Mavric isn't knocking Dzuris' play, but he is just saying it would be nice to have a more talented player at the DE spot. I think we all would agree that a great talent and great positioning would be the best. However, that talent isn't on NU this year, so we will continue to support Dzuris and the solid play that he has done so far. Thanks. I thought I had explained that three or four times already but apparently not.

  15. QMany was at the concession stand so you're good.
  16. Definitely will not be sorry he won't be there next year. Depends on which transfer they get....
