Don't make much of his jersey # right now. Freshman are basically stuck with #'s that are available after graduating seniors leave and older players choose different numbers. That comment was mostly tongue-in-cheek. Their options are somewhat limited. I'm 99% sure Morgan was #8 in high school so I'm sure he wanted that number. Stevenson got his #2. Neal go the same #9 that he wore in high school. So they can definitely ask.

Mainly because they look to be our toughest game. The only two games they lost last year was to the two teams that played in the National Championship game. We've definitely played them tough but it will be interesting to see how our new schemes match up. Pelini's defense gave MSU all kinds of problems. We held them to their lowest point total last year (tied with Oregon). Two years ago they put up 41 points on us but a lot of that was on the back of our five turnovers. We beat them the two years before that - holding their offense in check for the most part - but the rest of the series history doesn't hold any weight. It will be interesting to see how our new defense comes together. Along with that, most people aren't picking us to go undefeated. If you're going to pick us to lose at least one game, odds are that would be the one. But I think we should be very competitive. Won't surprise me if we win but I'm not "expecting" it.

Here's a thread where several posters on this here board wanted the Huskers to hire Borges before Michigan did.

Those were the days. #nostalgia I remember when everyone couldn't stop laughing and waiting for the inevitable when he hired that crusty old offensive coordinator. Dont' know about the others, but in that particular instance, all I remember was people pointing out how terrible of a pickup it was. Al Borges? Who's been an OC for 30 years at places like Oregon, UCLA, Cal and Auburn? He came over with Hoke from San Diego State. He's old but I don't think people laughing at the move was the case. I mean, I'm sure there were a few here and there who would mock about any hire but most of what we heard here was how Hoke hired coordinators with experience and how they were all better than the inexperienced guys we had. He's the one at San Jose State now but I don't think that was really what was happening circa 2011.
