  1. Well, really it's tOSU's fault for being in the wrong conference. But StPaul is pretty spot on
  2. Totally shocked that you forgot to mention Miami, Michigan, Syracuse, Florida, West Virginia, Penn State, Colorado, Utah, Tennessee, Northwestern, Kansas, BYU, North Carolina, Washington State, Tulane, Georgia Tech, and Marshall. I thought this was about being being elite, not looking for reasons why we aren't. I cant believe i'm doing this *sighs* *takes shot of whisky* I agree with Polo. Listing teams who were elite but are now struggling is counterproductive. I'd rather look at the teams he is in order to hold onto the expectations that we still can as opposed to looking for reasons/excuses why we arent/cant. *ducks under table* No, that's not was he was doing and he knows it. It has nothing to do with what our current expectations are. It's just another way to take a jab. How was Florida State from 2001-2011 better than where we are now? How about Oregon from 2002-2008? Or Auburn from 1995-2003? Or Texas A&M from 1999-2011? Or Arizona from 1999-2013? Or USC from 1996-2001? Really, to even include Oregon, Texas A&M and Arizona on that list is laughable but I guess you have to lower your expectations of who was elite 20 years ago to be able to try to make a better point. Yes, if you want to cherry pick a few of the best teams now, find one good year they had 20 years ago and basically say "see all these teams can do it, why can't Nebraska", it's not hard to find a few teams that fit that description. But you have to ignore a bunch of other teams that couldn't keep up that level of success and are currently much worse than Nebraska. Noting I said was about expectations.

I thought this was about being being elite, not looking for reasons why we aren't. Because Miami, Michigan, Florida, Penn State and Tennesse didn't win or play for national championships in the 90s?

  5. Alex Lantz ‏@AlexLantz 2m2 minutes ago Spoke with #Huskers 2015 RB commit Kendall Bussey last night. Despite a recent offer from Texas A&M, he's still firmly committed to Nebraska

  7. Not that this really has anything to do with anything but it's crazy: Christopher D. Long ‏@octonion 12m12 minutes ago Yao Ming standing next to JJ Watt, who is 6'5", 290 lbs.
  8. I agree and figured someone would bring that up. But I think you have to be doing pretty well "game in and game out" to end up in the Top 5 all-time in basically every major receiving category and especially all-purpose yardage.
  9. Yes, but if you read the OP, it will be extremely unlikely Nebraska could lose two and get in. Because who will beat Nebraska and then lose three games? Wouldn't necessarily have to lose three. Could be a three-way tie with the leaders having two losses.
  10. I agree the later is more concerning. A few have said if you're not cheating you're not trying, and I think if defensive players are stealing signals, making noises on the line, clapping, etc, the coaches need to adjust accordingly. I may get killed for this - but I don't see this as any different than a hard count (rule or not). If this is recognized during the game it shouldn't take almost three full quarters to make adjustments. MSU mostly did the clapping in the 3rd quarter - I think only once in the 2nd quarter. So it took about a quarter for the coaches and players to figure out what was happening and make changes. The changes themselves gave our backup QB a few problems later. Didn't start until the third quarter.

  14. i could see texas beat ou. now that i say that, ou will slaughter texas. but texas as a way of being a spoiler to ou (and other teams). and honestly, it is still hard to believe tcu and baylor are top ten teams. the times, they are a changin'. Yeah, that Texass/OU game is tough to pick. You can pretty much throw records and ratings out the window in a grudge match like that. Almost like Iowa/Iowa State. I mean, Iowa State has won three of the last four. So they'd be the pick, right?
  15. Onsides kick, no? Yeah. Have no idea why you'd do anything else. Although, it kind of looked like he was trying to kick it right at someone to try to get it to bounce back but kicked it too high.
  16. Crick playing like an animal tonight. Four tackles and a TFL but it seems like more. All over the field.
  17. Brian Rosenthal ‏@HuskerExtraBR 2h2 hours ago Jake Hammond has some fight in him, good offensive skill. Not Big Ten ready in terms of physical presence but showed more than I expected. Brian Rosenthal ‏@HuskerExtraBR 1h1 hour ago Didn't see explosiveness I've heard about Tarin Smith, but then I learned he's been ill and has lost 12 pounds as a result. Brian Rosenthal ‏@HuskerExtraBR 1h1 hour ago Nick Fuller has been making a very high percentage of shots. Looks great shooting. Minutes will depend on defense, rebounding. Needs work.
  18. Brian Rosenthal ‏@HuskerExtraBR 4h4 hours ago #Nebrasketball walk-on freshman forward B.J. Day has suffered torn ACL, is out for season.
  19. Brian Rosenthal ‏@HuskerExtraBR 6h6 hours ago "Unbeaten: The Life of Brook Berringer" will debut on BTN on Saturday, Oct. 18, at approximately 9:30 p.m. CDT, after NU-NU football game.

  21. I haven't looked through it enough to figure it all out but it's at least an interesting attempt. Here's the quick summary: Link So apparently most teams joining a Power 5 conference did moderately worse but the two teams joining the SEC did noticeably better. Hmmmmm........
  22. Maybe it's harder to win college football games than many like to think?
  23. This seems to make sense to me. Especially if a couple of our current targets don't work out.
