  1. During the review of Nebraska's status the internal AAU metrics that were made available listed FSU at #94. That was tied with one existing AAU member & ahead of one other (at #105), one of those two was almost certainly Syracuse. Nebraska was at #109. The two newest additions (Georgia Tech & Boston U) were #31 & #37. There were about thirty other non-AAU schools ranked ahead of FSU. NCState & VPI were tied at #91 & the University of Miami was #59.
  2. This. Bruce was called 'ole 9-3 Earle' while he was the head coach. Another big issue was that he was recruiting continuously declined during his tenure.
  3. Well on the bright side Maryland will come off that list at some point over the next decade.
  4. A pivot towards the Chicagoland recruits?
  5. Nah that's just overblown TV nonsense. Now would you should worry about is becoming hopelessly lost in the Pine Barrens & driven mad by the Jersey Devil.
  6. They're 23 in the coaches poll. They lost to #25 Old Dominion & got thumped by #12 VPI. Also had a meh performance at Cliff Keen.
  7. In all honesty how much of a difference will it make? Your football team will fly to NJ or MD about once more a year & Indiana one less time on average. Is that worth increased access to those east coast recruiting territories?
  8. The thing that really pushed the NCAA over the edge was the http://www.cleveland.com/osu/index.ssf/2011/09/ohio_state_booster_from_clevel.html]Bobby DiGeronimo charity crap popping up at the end of everything else. http://www.cleveland.com/osu/index.ssf/2011/09/ohio_state_booster_from_clevel.html
  9. If you read the original story it's pretty clear he wasn't trying to get attention or grind an ax. It was during a team bonding exercise by the coach where players would stand up and talk about their lives.\\
  10. So let me get this straight... Girl passes out at the house of some college guys... She wakes up with her panties missing.... Guys say it must have been a ghost... AND SHE BUYS IT?!
  11. Hey if you promise to take them out behind the woodshed, split their head with a shovel & then bury the remains you can have them for free. It's within spitting distance of NYC.
  12. The local word is that if he gets his grades in order he's a Buckeye.
  13. No Brady Hoke is actually due in the first week of April.
  14. Not true at all. Barry actually won bowl games.
  15. I can't imagine that they would throw away the original plan to even split up the 'kings'. I am certain that Nebraska will always find themselves in a division with either Ohio State or the Wolverines. Well the conventional wisdom has been that whoever can give a home to UNC + 1 (NCST or Duke) will end up with them. A recent SI story claimed that the SEC has actually been heavily going after UNC & Duke over the past few years. So who knows how things will really shake out.
  16. Remember UNC & NCST share the same board of governors. They are not going to be split up unless it is a mutual decision. That's because Husker fans actively wanted to be equal members in the gang. PSU fans wanted to be treated like they were European nobles come to enlighten poor savages out on the frontier. Did you get that info from the post on Shaggy Bevo? That was the first time I had ever seen such a claim so I have some serious doubts as to it's validity. Why in the world would the CIC care about contiguity?
  17. Have the wolverines ever voted yes for any new member? If it was up to you guys the Big 10 would consist of a single school in Ann Arbor.
  18. Ostensibly the Department of Education under the Clery Act but when those sanctions come down they won't be crippling due to the political fall out that would result.
  19. Where did Texas suddenly pop up into the equation when you initially stated A&M? That being said yes Rutgers & Maryland are stronger universities (you do understand the meaning of the word yes?) than any of the above save Texas (A&M is comparable). On what basis would you argue otherwise? Certainly not using any available metric. The reality is that many in the COP/C were unhappy with the addition of Nebraska and we will not see another school that is such an academic outlier from other B1G schools be offered any time soon. Oklahoma approached the conference sans Oklahoma State and was still turned away. If the Longhorns wanted in the B1G they would already be a member. They aren't a possibility unless the LHN implodes and even then it won't be until after the GOR runs out. The B1G has always been about more than just short term football success (which is what you really mean when you mean 'athletically'). You really want the conference to slip into irrelevance? Continue to targets schools in demographic wastelands like Oklahoma (or Nebraska). That's the death spiral that the Big 8 was trying to escape by bringing in the SEC refugees. On a tangent...I've never understood why people think VPI is such a no-brainer when it's history is in stark contrast to the tenure of Frank Beamer. Using the same logic Kansas State was arguably a better choice than Nebraska. BTW did a ND apologist just calls Ohio State fans fair weather?!
  20. Oh they're doing just fine. They just honored their latest undefeated/national/conference championship team. I'll respond to your question with a question of my own... How is it fair to humanity that these lunatics are allowed to have a team at all?
  21. Don't forget Oregon w/ Willie Lyles. People need to remember that the NCAA has no subpoena power. The Ohio State sanctions went quickly because the University self-reported & turned over all the relevant information on it's own accord. PSU went quickly because the school paid Louis Freeh to investigate and thus made all of the relevant information public record.
  22. If the B1G hadn't shaken the big 12 tree by talking to Missouri, Nebraska never would have fallen out. BTW don't conflate schools with current football success. All of east coast schools being targeted by the B1G are by far the stronger Universities. The odds of the COP/C allowing entry to another academic outlier are beyond slim.
  23. As long as the coaches ballots are secret the all conferences selections will always be a joke. Why?
  24. Intermat = 15 USA Today/Coaches = 9 Coaches Poll Intermat
