  1. Coulda Shoulda Woulda... what does that mean? Didn't he transfer because he got beat out by Ameer coming into their SO year? TCU was certainly closer to home for him, but I recall Ameer having the upper hand coming into the season which led to his transfer. He got his fair shot and decided to leave when he wasn't going to be the clear cut next guy in line. Happens at every school Ok feel I need to clarify. Because folks have tunnel vision. So I'm going to spoon feed it to you. Keep up. Seeing a player transfer from our school and be successful at another program shows me, that we were able to recruit talent. In addition, with proper coaching we coulda shoulda woulda been more competitive as a team. This has nothing to do with him getting beat out by ameer. We shoulda coulda found somewhere to put him if he is that talented. Makes me wonder about the under utilized talent we coulda used but didn't. No need to spoon feed me anything, I think I'm more than capable with keeping up with your statement... When you drop coulda shoulda woulda, you make it sound like we made this huge mistake by him transferring to TCU. "This has nothing to do with him getting beat out by Ameer." Well, it actually does seeing how Ameer being on top of the depth chart above him played a HUGE role in him deciding to transfer for more playing time. I do agree that it be great to find a role for him since he is that talented. That being said, it is not just a Nebraska issue, every school has attrition from players not getting the playing time they feel they deserve and choose to transfer elsewhere in order to get said playing time. Green has NFL aspirations and it was best for him to go to TCU. He got beat out fair and square and decided to transfer on his own, how is that Nebraska under utilizing talent we coulda used but didn't. Keep up
  2. Haven't you realized by now? Its much more fun to play the game of being the most pessimistic clown possible... Its really a win/win for em. If they're right and the hire doesn't pan out they can scream I told you so, if they're wrong and the hire is great then the team is doing well and they turn a blind eye to their original grouchy old man stance. Nothing like trying to tear down your team 8 months before the kick off of the new season!!

  4. Hindsight is 20/20, real easy to call TO out on this now but let's not forget the sh!t storm that led to Bo in the first place.... Defense was a disaster, HC with no Nebraska ties who flat out rejected tradition and didn't produce on the field to ease the frustrations of the fan base... Bo at the time represented one of the great up and coming minds in college football, was considered a "top" defensive mind, who had past ties with the University, connections all over the football world, and was the DC on a dominating defense that just won the national title. Obviously things did not work out but TO is not a fortune teller. While Bo always had a temper and short fuse, no one would have predicted the amount of boneheaded actions and borderline insane comments that came directly from him. He's a grown man who acts like a child and to put any of this on Osborne is misdirected.
  5. Keep dreamin of the glory days bud and let us know when you wake up from reality. The fact that ppl are bashing this hire is insane. This guy is known as a great coach from an eye for talent, development, and x's and o's standpoint.... None of which our previous staff could make a claim to. Bo and his crew sure did rack up those wins against crap competition and then got straight up embarrassed when it came to equally/superior teams from both a talent and coaching perspective. Guess what? Riley and co (whoever he brings on board) will still rack up those wins against crap schools on a pure talent basis, yet he's proven that he can lead a squad to upset a team. Which, again, is something Bo failed miserable at year after year. I honestly don't get all the negativity. Who would you have rather hired? Scott Frost? Bo Pelini had a better track record when he got hired in 07 than Frost does now.
  6. Let's all give this guy a chance. Few things to consider that have been brought up... -Oregon St has been competitive year in and year out, with limited resources and playing 2nd fiddle to Oregon -His competitive teams have quite a number of big wins, something Bo cannot lay claim to and was one of his biggest downfalls -He's incredibly media friendly and really, polar opposite reputation of Bo in terms of public relations and how that affects his players -The resources in terms of recruiting, $ for assistants and facilities is infinitely strong at Nebraska than what he had to work with at Oregon St. Fielding a annually competitive team that is capable of taking down top ranked teams in the PAC 12 is quite an accomplishment given the deficiencies at OSU from a football standpoint. Buddy at work knows the Oregon football scene well and says we got a great hire if we're looking for a CEO to run the program, guy has tons of connections from his career, interesting to see who he brings with him. Yes this came out of no where, but his reputation and national reaction to this hire is certainly a positive for the program. Its not a splash hire we were expecting, but we're certainly not getting an inexperience, in over his head coach.... I'm excited to see what Riley can do with our resources GBR
  7. Youngstown and Columbus are along way from eachother. Im sure the flight would be directly to Youngstown or Cleveland. While this is true, I'm sure there's a possibility Tressel has made enough money over the years to have residences in both cities... wouldn't be surprised if his home in Youngstown was provided by the university, thus him keeping his Columbus residence. Of course this is all speculative BS on my part but that flight tracker and history last week sure does stoke the flames a bit....
  8. Link? http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N260LF
  9. That jet that landed in columbus from lincoln: http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N260LF The previous 2 trips on that plane was last week, 1 day trips from Lincoln to Madison, WI and back....... SE picking Alvarez' brain one last time on how to handle situation.... flight to Columbus to ink Tressel???
  10. Not hate...he's only been a HC since 2011 and hasn't done well with his own recruits yet in year 4 of his program. I'm just pointing out his record since he's been there. As for recruits....Brady Hoke was a great recruiter...and we all know what he put on the field. I'm not saying Shaw is the worst (BC was that for us) but I am going to say I think there are better hires than him. Not sure on how I feel about Shaw. But you bring up a great point, Stanford has slipped a bit now that Harbaugh's recruits are graduating/getting drafted. That being said, Shaw's offensive philosophy and smash mouth/power football would be great to see again. I just don't see Shaw bouncing from Stanford, he has way too many ties in CA and potential NFL interest for him to make a lateral move to a school he has no ties with previously
  11. This was a topic referenced frequently on the other Big 10 boards as well. The viewpoint went both ways, one of which was that we are considered delusional to think we're going to achieve that success again, the flip side being that the "delusion" of success and expectations is something to be admired as we aren't just settling for average seasonal results. Outside of Ohio State, the idea and goal of being an annual National title contender is foreign to many of the teams we play, but they seem to understand our desire to get back to this level given our history that most can't understand first hand... while the dominance of the 90's is a lofty goal and near impossible to attain in today's game, it feels damn good waking up knowing we're getting a fresh start and making an attempt to get back to that "winning" mindset.
  12. I'm sure a lot of you have seen this as well but I ventured to other Big 10 schools message boards yesterday to gauge their reaction to SE's decision. Found it pretty interesting to see what other fan bases had to say from within the conference that we play annually or on a somewhat regular schedule, was pretty comical to see some of the feedback and different view points. From the Michigan fans who expressed a sense of jealousy and animosity towards their own AD and higher ups who haven't had the balls to pull what we did in regards to Hoke. Iowa fans who seemed split as to whether SE was taking a shot at Iowa with his statement about the Friday game and gauging where we stood among them and other championship level programs, or as SE would say, progrums. Yet the general consensus on the Hawkeye board was very similar to Michigan where they wish they could just do the same with their current situation and start fresh with a new staff. Many Badger fans expressed they were not happy with the decision on the sole basis that they could no longer expect an annual Bo meltdown and subsequent Badger beat-down of Big Red (depending who we get to take his place). Also acknowledged that depending on who the next coach is, it could/will represent a huge hurdle for them moving forward as we're seen as really the only consistent roadblock in terms of potential for UW to reach the title game consistently. Didn't really go to any other team's boards... Briefly saw Ohio St's reaction and they seem to dismiss the idea that we have any shot of landing Tressel. Overall, it was very rewarding to see other fans have a sense of admiration for our fan base/school's drive for greatness and success and not just settling for mediocrity..... Exciting times to say the least for Husker Nation, here's to hoping that we follow through on this coaching change correctly and get back to where we should be. GBR
  13. No one is ever going to know 100% who will or will not be better than Bo moving forward. At the same time- can you tell me 1 thing Bo has shown in 7 years that leads us to believe we're not going to be having this same argument a year from now?
  14. Straight up troll garbage. Every single statement from OP is either irrationale, false, or both. There have been countless other threads disproving the notion that T.O and Bo's resume are similar at this point in their tenure. There are countless programs that have experienced immediate success or at least visible progress when they get the right coach and system in place, many of which have been listed. Wtf has this program done under Bo in 7 years that signifies clear progress to you or indicates it's going to chane anytime soon. Your thread title is hindsight is 20/20 yet you continue to ignore clear facts and spin crap to back your support of Bo. you have not listed one logical reason why or how Bo deserves more time when there are ZERO indications Bo can or will actually change. The staff is a laughing stock given the resources provided, 7 recruiting cycles and still no group of players can win with "his system", he's a hot headed short fuse guy that people and non fans outside of the program view as a child and complete joke of a hc for a major program.
  15. Rigghhhtttttttttt, so lemme get this straight.... Fans that want Bo to go but still want to curb stomp Iowa don't have a competitive bone in our body, yet some fairweather fan, such as yourself, wants to get stomped out by our piss poor "rival" in Iowa is is considered to be a more competitive person? That makes 0 sense
  16. Check out the Railyard area by the new basketball arena. All of our family remembers were blown away with how different that area is when we went back for graduation in May. A lot of great food/bar choices within a few blocks area. Crazy to see how different that area is compared to the old rail lines and post office that used to be in that area.
  17. This isn't so much as to discredit you, but from my experiences growing up in the PNW, Nebraska has been a punchline regardless of good/bad, people found a way to hate/joke. Anymore, I really couldn't care less about what our national perception is. The difference is that before we were winning and it didn't really matter, now we're a national punch line both on and off the field. And you should care, at least a little, on what your national perception is as it heavily influences recruiting and the outlook on both your conference and your team's ranking throughout the year.
  18. I don't know how old you are but there was a considerable length of time when people were calling for Osborne to be replaced. He was the coach that could not win the big one! I remember Barry Switzer saying that most years Nebraska has the better team but the Sooners alsways seem to win. Osborne resorted to trick plays for a period- I think repsonding to pressure from the people were criticizing him. I remember many time being on my knees in front of the TV begging-pleadinig with him to throw the ball instead of running more option plays. There were times it looked like the defenders were putting 8-9 men up in the box and would flow in play direction- not caring if we threw the ball. I am disillusioned with the humiliating blow outs from time to time. I don't believe changing coaches every other year will improve our teams' performance. I think Bo can do it but he needs to do some soul searching and make the changes necessary. I think that is why Tom Osborne was eventually successful because he did make some necessary changes- not wholesale changes but enough to get improvement. Also, he had the benefit of some long term experienced successful assistants. Bo is lacking the experienced assistants in my opinion. Common man, Tom Osborne never winning the "big one" in a title game or against a top 5/10 team is not the same as Bo Pelini not winning a "Big one" against a lower ranked or even respectable team when it matters. The lowest Tom ever finished in the polls at the end of the year was 24th I believe in 1990. I realize the game has changed and there is more parity, but this whole it took Tom decades to finally figure it out argument to support Bo is baseless at best. It's been covered many times on this board and in the media, its not just the win loss record but its how you get those wins and losses. Bo has had his opportunity to do soul searching yet he continued to bring in inexperienced coordinators that were his cronies and did not help his cause. Not everything is directly Bo's fault, but you know what? That's what comes with the territory as the Head Coach of a big time program, he doesn't have the ability and is too stubborn to realize that he needs to make the uncomfortable decision and bring in guys that know their stuff when it comes to football as opposed to sticking with a comfortable level of mediocrity. Just like in business, if a CEO at a big time company FAILS to make any form of improvement and continually makes bad decisions that harm the overall brand and perception of that company, you best believe he's out the door in favor of someone who can execute.
  19. Why even waste your time typing that? That's a pipe dream that will never happen.. Why even waste my time typing a response....
  20. The issue is that we already went through a tailspin with good ole Billy at the helm. 7 years under Bo. Pedestrian QB play, zero defensive respectability unless an all time great tackle by the nameof Suh carries the load, and annual blow outs on national TV that make Nebraska look like a complete joke with ZERO IMPROVEMENT.
  21. Can't we just play this game after Saturday?
  22. According to...what? Have a feeling that MichiganDad3 purely saw the scoreline or tuned in for the last few minutes. That was a back and forth, one possession game until midway through the 4th, on the road; in one of the toughest game day environments to play in, against a higher ranked team who has the most impressive win to date of any top ranked title contender... MSU may have lost by 19 points but that game was much closer than the final score indicates, a few of my oregon buddies weren't feeling too confident there until the end.
  23. No point in getting worked up over something outside of our control. A solid win in East Lansing will most certainly place us int he 10-13 range, a close win should peg us around 15 (though, I would expect even a close win would vault us in the 10-13 range). Could you make the case we should be slotted a bit higher at this point in time? Sure. However, the season is still insanely early and us taking care of business on the road against a top 10 team would be a Bo Pelini first. Michigan St carries a lot of weight and respect given last year and the Rose Bowl win, they also played the toughest road game out of any top 10 team thus far. Nebraska taking them down would give us legitimacy, there's no way we would only move up a few spots with a win like that.
  24. I'm sure some of you saw this on the reddit page, but nice little husker reunion after the thursday night game last night:
