  1. That sounds great, hope we can do all that.........still don't get why the obsession with positive and negative fans? Our attitude will follow what we see on the field. Do you think we should keep a positive attitude if we lose 3 of the first 6 games? Do you think my attitude will cause us to win all those games? We didn't hire the guy, had nothing to do with the decision.....why is our attitude so important? Personally I like the guy and it sounds like he knows a thing or two. Are donors bailing? Could you clue us in why newbs with 10 posts keep showing up lecturing us on our attitude? Allow this newb to clarify! I am new here. After Pelini got fired I was so hungry for news, so anxious to see what others were saying I searched and found this site. I immediately became a member, desperately wanting to converse with other Husker fans that were concerned about the program, excited about who the new coach would be, how the players were reacting, how it would affect recruits, etc., etc. Just because I'm new to this site does not mean I don't have an opinion, so please, show some respect. In terms of the negativity I reference in my post, it isn't just this site, I have other sites I belong to as well. Not to mention social media, i.e., Facebook and Twitter. In general I have seen and heard some of the craziest stuff from people who say they are a Husker fan, and being the fan I am I began to wonder why. It's like one poster on here said, it wouldn't matter if we hired God as our HC and Jesus and his disciples as his staff, some people would still bitch and moan. I was really just stating my opinion, not lecturing, but I do have 2 teenage kids so maybe I'm starting to come off as a lecturer all the time now. At any rate, thank you for your comments and for following this thread. You're as entitled to be here as I am. The point I was trying to make is that it seems like all the Pelini haters seem to be showing up on boards they were never on during the season for the sole purpose of gloating...as if to say "Look at us....we bitched and moaned to Harvey and threatened to withhold our donations, probably hold our breathe too, if Pelini isn't fired." Also, and I'm not speaking about you, many of these great fans are apparently showing up just to mock and ridicule our former staff. That's all I meant by that.
  2. Will the new President fire the Chancellor?
  3. Okay, so it's the usual $260,000 that S Callahan posted. $3,000,000 minus $260,000.
  4. He can't do that. What do you mean...why not?
  5. He'll probably work for about $50,000..........so that's $3,000,000 minus $50,000.
  6. I'm excited about a five yard swing pass to DeMorney.
  7. http://nebraska.247sports.com/Bolt/Riley-to-visit-Anderson-33699873 RILEY CHECKING IN ON TWO TOP HUSKER COMMITS!!!! YIPPEEEEE!!!!
  8. Yes, ban everyone.........BAN THEM! BAN THEM! BAN THEM!.......wait, not me.
  9. I'm gonna stay optimistic until I have reason to think otherwise. From what little I know I like the guy and think he might be the guy who has the sense to do it right. My biggest concern is the same I have for most Husker coaches;....can he recruit the talent needed to compete with the many Texas sized teams in the frozen tundra league. I don't want this to be another Collier or Sadler show....nice guys and good coaches who couldn't bring in the level of talent needed to compete. Heck, that was Bo's biggest problem....many of the stars he recruited had been injured in high school and he stood by them. I'm sticking with my preference for the Big 12 for recruiting reasons alone. Should we need another AD, I'm going with Karen Jennings.
  10. Riley's been at this his entire life.......I think he has an idea of what needs to happen. There's all kinds of time left to recruit but don't expect any miracles this year. Bo's recruits are Bo's recruits.......they know they're still welcome here but it's a touchy thing when the staff is fired. Some of them will just decide to go another direction and it's not the end of the world. People keep talking about retaining the current staff and hiring Frost........but maybe they don't want the job? Maybe they don't think Bo is the bad guy that the ESPN reality show guys are making him out to be and they're not playing along? I personally think it's shocking that we haven't tried to get Dan Hawkins who is widely known as the nicest coach in all of sports.
  11. I doubt it.....he probably put out feelers for some bigtime coaches and when nobody was interested knew Riley would be safe. I doubt he'd hire Riley if he thought he would tank the program.........interesting theory though. He just wants someone who will please the donors and make them feel proud of their loon costume at the tailgate. Have you seen the old Don Knotts movie "The Reluctant Astronaut"? .........that's the atmosphere around here.
  12. Bo is a regular guy. Or at least a vindictive, petty, self-serving, paranoid regular guy. Reportedly, Pelini went off about SE and the NU administration. Why is that hard to believe? Why the need for an off-campus meeting? I'll be very surprised if Bo gets a HC job anywhere. And I mean anywhere. The post-firing thing in itself wont hurt him. His behavior while HC will. Oh, you brought the transcript with you? Just go sit with the blue-hairs where you'll be happy.
  13. That's what I want to know.......how good is Darlington.
  14. Imagine if Bo coaches there for a year or two....until Tressel's restrictions end...then both of them take over coaching a BIG team...Iowa or something?? Wouldn't that be crazy? Wouldn't it be a trip if he really was seen in Lincoln.........to recruit Bo?
  15. A complete mystery until the season starts. Tommy's an athlete and could play several positions besides qb if it came to it.
  16. Did Tressel come to Lincoln to recruit Bo to Youngstown State? I read he may be a top candidate for the head coaching job there. They'd get him for almost nothing and we'd pay his 3 million salary minus what they offset.
  17. From what I've seen posted about Orgeron, it sounds like he's a loud-mouthed horses ass. Why would we hire a mild-mannered Bruce Wayne type coach to replace Mean Bo Pelini , then follow that with the Ogre? It goes against everything they've said about the Osborne style coaching philosophy they want to return to.
  18. You don't think the full-time recruiters have called the recruits and explained the situation? Some of those guys were sold on Bo or just soft commits......that's what happens when you fire a coach........a 9-3 or 10-3 coach. Maybe we can change our attitude and send them positive thoughts about the complete upheaval of their recruiting process? Another thing.......about a week ago he was recruiting for Oregon State.........this offer came out of left field.....even he thought it was weird.
  19. That sounds great, hope we can do all that.........still don't get why the obsession with positive and negative fans? Our attitude will follow what we see on the field. 20. I think you have to throw out what happened at weak sister Oregon State and go on Riley's experience. I get the feeling that the administration and boosters didn't exactly give it the old college try there and were happy just to not get killed. I think we'll know soon enough if Riley has what it takes to take this 9 or 10-3 team and git-r-done. You can see from the Pelini and Solich records that padding your stats against bottom-feeders has nothing to do with competing with the big boys. "We have the resources" is kind of a joke too....Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan and Wisconsin don't have the resources? It's like we left a league with one Texas and joined one with at least four.
  21. I hope you don't want to keep token coaches from the current staff......that would be a bummer to me. I'm not sure who nationally is dying to join up with Riley either. Ron Brown and Fisher would be the only Nebraska coaches I could tolerate on the new staff. I wanted to see the entire new staff consist of the top position coaches in football, even if it meant paying premium money to entice them from their current job. I imagined Riley and SE talking to prospects with this message; "resources are no issue at Nebraska, we want to win national championships, you will be joining an all star staff of coaches, if you want to work and learn from the best then Nebraska is the place for you, in addition to working with the best we will make sure you have the best facilities, in fact anything you need to win will be provided, and by the way we will double your salary" So far he's brought the DC, LB, OL, WR, and Special Teams coaches. The only ones I'd want to keep from Bo's staff are the DB and DL coaches. I like Garrison for the way he handled that MASH unit, but that ship has sailed.
  22. So, where is Mr. 24 posts 30Rozier? He comes on here, runs his mouth and is never seen again. Where is the transcript of this meeting? Just tell us what he said. Bo is just a regular guy....nothing more ,nothing less.
