  1. Agreed, I hope Fuller gets some consistent minutes during the tournament regardless of defensive match-up. We need to keep everyone's minutes as low as possible. The line opened today with Penn State as a 1.5 point favorite.
  2. FWIW, Sipple from Journal Star said on the radio that he thinks Petteway is leaning toward leaving. He didn't have any inside source or anything, just his feeling.
  3. Northwestern lost vs Iowa today. If Minnesota wins - and Neb win, we'll be the 11 seed. So if Minnesota loses tomorrow vs Penn State / Neb. wins / we could be the 10 seed. Either way, we'll know before we tip off -- instead of No Sit Sunday - it could be No Play-in Game Sunday.
  4. Miles said last year that he doesn't worry about getting the seniors in or starting them. If it happens, it happens. Mike Peltz didn't play in the game last year even when though he could have gotten in with a few seconds left and we were up by more than two possessions.
  5. Nebraska Seeding Scenarios with 1 game left. 10 Seed (No play-in game) We would win in a 3 way tie. Nebraska wins vs MD AND Minnesota loses vs Penn State AND Northwestern loses at Iowa 11 Seed (Play-in game - Wed. evening tip time) We win the tie-breaker in either case. Nebraska Wins AND Northwestern loses (Tiebreaker - Head to Head) OR Nebraska Wins AND Minnesota loses (Tiebreaker - Record against top team with a win - which would be a Nebraska win against Maryland in this case) 12 Seed (Play-in game - Wed. mid afternoon tip time) Nebraska loses OR Minnesota and Northwestern both win FYI - it is not guaranteed that Penn State is 13 yet, if Penn State loses at Minnesota and Rutgers beats Michigan (Rutgers has tie-breaker)
  6. Samuel McKewon ‏@swmckewonOWH Feb 26 Remember the mess Doc inherited? His record after 3 years at NU: 55-40. Miles right now: 47-46. Robin Washut ‏@RobinWashut @swmckewonOWH Keep in mind the quality of non-conference schedules.
  7. With Northwestern winning today (4 in a row), Nebraska, Minnesota, and Northwestern all have 5 wins. (For the 10, 11, and 12 spots) The good news is with a three tie we have the first tiebreaker so in this scenario we would be 10. Minnesota has Penn State at home and Northwestern plays Michigan so we probably need at least one more win regardless. Minnesota plays Michigan State at the same time that we play OSU tomorrow (Thursday). If Minnesota loses, it puts us in the driver's seat on a 2-way tie-breaker with just them.
  8. Can we Maric (sp?) may disagree........ Can we move these comments to a different thread? We have some that are very similar and better than in a player profile.
  9. I don't agree. Why would you be particularly worried about a player shooting 23%? Benny Parker is shooting 33%. We can agree to disagree. I see what you are saying, however it's not about Gallegos percentage. It was just the fear that he could get hot, even Miles said previously that teams over respected Gallegos at times last year. Even with a higher percentage, Parker for example has never made 4+ three-pointers in a game. There is no threat of him getting hot, Gallegos provided the fear factor regardless of if it was over-respected by teams at times. The offensive deficiencies go deeper than just one player, but this is one reason.
  10. Oh my god! This makes things make even worse! Interesting stats! I agree that the problem goes much further than just Gallegos. However, regardless of actual points scored, they other team had to commit a person to closely guard him at all times. This helped to open up lanes and give us a threat. Fuller (or anyone else) is not seen as the same threat so they can pack the paint. Gallegos indirectly helped to create those driving lanes that don't show up in the stats.
  11. The boys can't put the ball in the hoop and they turn the ball over. Just curious, what can Miles do? If you think someone else should be playing, who and why? I think you play anyone else. The starters right now suck. And if your bench players aren't good enough to play on a sucky team, then you are screwed either way. might as well try anything to light a spark. Plus...it is his 3rd year...why doesn't he have any of his recruits playing at all? No sophomores? There are some of his recruits. Smith is playing a decent amount and Fuller got some run yesterday. But I pointed out the same thing earlier. If the guys he was "stuck" with are so bad, why haven't more of his recruits jumped in front of them? Petteway and Pitchford are also guys Miles recruited as transfers. TP was All-Conference last year, and Pitchford was solid last year. This year, they have been disappointing. Other than Shields, I am not sure what "leftover" guys are playing a ton of minutes. Shields and Rivers is it. Everyone else playing are Miles' guys. Benny Parker was also recruited/signed by Sadler. Shields said that the coaching change didn't change his mind in the past that he always wanted to go to Nebraska. He did meet with Miles to make sure they were on the same page, but he'd still be considered a Sadler recruit.
  12. Just Purdue and Penn State have. Nebraska also took itself out of consideration two years ago (Miles first year). These schools have either taken themselves out years previously or declined an invitation. Indiana (last year) Illinois Michigan - their coach just gave an interview that they will not be playing a post season tournament this year if it is not the NCAA / NIT *There might be others, these are just the ones I know of for sure.
  13. Thanks! I remembering using this link last year, but couldn't find it.
  14. Keeping in mind, with the B1G 10 Tournament being our only chance to make the tournament. Which is better? Of course a 10 seed would be ideal, but the way our schedule sets up along with Minn and Michigan, it is more likely we'd either be 9th or 11th. Being the 11th seed: Having to play on the first day, limited depth so more tired players toward the end. Being the 9 seed: Having one less game to play, but Wisconsin in the Quarterfinals *Miles has said that it is crucial to avoid the play-in (bottom-4) games on Wednesday. I'm more inclined to think that 11 would actually be better as we avoid Wisconsin as long as possible. Our depth is an issue though. What does everyone else think? FYI: Michigan has the tie-breaker over Nebraska (head-to-head) MInnesota currently holds the tie-breaker over Nebraska (this may change as it is based on record vs the top team since head-to-head is 1-1)
  15. BIG has a scheduling rule that you can't have a home and home against the same opponent 2 years in a row - so we couldn't have a home and home again next year (2015-16) with Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Maryland, Illinois. Brian Rosenthal @HuskerExtraBR #B1G hoops scheduling tidbit: This is second of a three-year rotation where teams can't have same home-&-home foe in consecutive years.
  16. Here is the free video link that UNLV will stream all three games this weekend: http://www.unlvrebels.com/videos/
  17. With Tai defensively becoming a stopper and his earlier comments about never quitting NU, I think N. Fuller would be the primary transfer candidate (by his decision). I'd still like to see him get more minutes especially with us having such a problem scoring. He looked good against Rutgers and Minnesota at home when he got consistent minutes. I know his defense is poor and/or needs work, but at this point, we'd take a few buckets lost for some actual scoring.
  18. Apparently the meeting went well! Still wish Oregon wasn't his last official trip before signing day. DJ ‏@DaishonNeal90 50m50 minutes ago Great meeting Coach Riley, Coach Banker, and Coach Hughes! Loved these guys! #GBR!! pic.twitter.com/ogJKeLvCTf
  19. Looks like Kaminsky will play. Bring it on! Directly from the Wisconsin athletic basketball Twitter account: Wisconsin Basketball ‏@BadgerMBB Frank Kaminsky (concussion) has been cleared to return to practice today - expected to play Thursday vs. Nebraska.
  20. We should probably start a seperate thread on this subject, but Fuller played 11 minutes last night and TM says that he wants to play him more. If this does happen, I don't see Fuller leaving. Pitchford, like Shields wants to keep putting NU on the map so I don't see him leaving. He'll be happier (at least this year) when Moses and Leslie are back in a week and he can play less inside. If it is to happen, I do agree that it is either Petteway declaring early or Webster leaving (I think he would go play Euro ball as he already turned down a contract as opposed to transferring somewhere else in the U.S.)
  21. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I still hope N. Fuller will get more minutes. I would think that he could help us during our offensive "lulls", he shot pretty well during Incarenate. I know his defense needs help, but we are playing some zone anyway so that wouldn't be as big of an issue.
  22. Per today's article in the LJS, Agau would have to sit out two semesters. So enrolling in January, means that he would not play until after Dec 2015 / Start of second semester 2016. That would be pretty much like this year in non-conference, except we wouldn't even have Rivers. http://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/mens-basketball/huskers-bigs-eyeing-return-for-big-ten-play/article_041f171a-4591-53a1-9b09-da9e9082445c.html
  23. We may be doing our own internal research first as well to make sure that he would be eligible next year (not have to sit out). While it looks like a good possibility, if he wasn't granted that waiver, we would literally have no big men besides Hammond/Pitchford. Even with his skill set, we couldn't afford not to get a big man who could play right away instead. Graduating this year: L. Smith M. Abraham D. Rivers
  24. I do think, however slight the chance was to begin with, this hurts Kaz's chances of being kept on Riley's staff. Bo mentioned just him a few times by name and makes it seem like they think the same.
  25. Here is the ticket information in case any one wants to purchase: Tickets go on sale online at http://Huskers.com today at 9 PM. All-session tickets are $34 (reserved A and B) and $30 (C section). TV information will be released later in the week (Wed or so) probably NET based on previous years.
