  1. I see no reason to change the voting age to be younger. I'm all for making it easier for everyone. I would prefer Knapp's idea of doing it over two days (Saturday and Sunday). It's stupid that it's during the week.
  2. You're wanting all HS kids (even a 15-16 year old freshman) to be able to vote? Ummmm......no. I'm all for making it easier for people legally of age to vote (18). But, I am not for people even younger being able to vote.
  3. Why do you continue to try to pigeon hole me into some form of conservative REPUBLICAN? This is exactly what is wrong in American politics. I made a statement on here earlier this morning and ever since you have been trying your hardest to paint me into some form of awful conservative Republican. Interesting, because in the same post where you cherry picked the statement out, I specifically stated that I'm without a party....meaning...the Republican party too.
  4. Well....here's my chance for my feelings about the Republican Party to go even farther in the toilet. The results of this election will be interesting to follow.
  5. Have to say, this ended up more interesting than I originally thought it would.
  6. And...that is the choice of Cornell as to who they want to allow in as far as academic standards. A 28 or 29 is still pretty dang good compared to what it would take to get into UNL as an athlete. This shouldn't be regulated by the NCAA to lower standards for athletes just to level the playing field in the sport.
  7. This is where I think a lot of Husker fan's views are skewed. Just because UCF had a better season, doesn't mean they had more talent. Talent isn't readily seen when a team is poorly coached. Meaning, I firmly believe that a Nebraska team coached by Frost this year would beat a UCF team coached by Frost.
  8. Interesting since this is what you did to start this. As for the...."bunch of big entitlement programs". This is basically what Bernie campaigned on and he remains one of the top candidates for the Democratic party.
  9. No. I am a fiscal conservative. But, that doesn't make me automatically align with this administration nor the current Republican Party. I believe government spending should be scrutinized and big government programs should be heavily studied to make sure they are implemented in an efficient manner that accomplishes their goals but as least expensive as possible. Example....once again......I am not totally against a single payer health care plan. I think it should be studied in a non partisan manner and it very well could be the answer to our problems. See???? I'm not against a government health care answer, I'm against just believing big government programs are the answer to our problems because government spending is great and helps everyone. There is a big difference there. In my thoughts, a single payer plan may very well be actually the fiscally conservative thing to do because it accomplishes people having healthcare AND.....saves money in the long run which...in turn....could reduce the amount average Americans are spending on the combined taxes + healthcare that we have today....which...in turn....leaves more of THEIR money in THEIR pockets to do with it what THEY want.
  10. Ummmm....Dude said it was him that has promoted this idea. I believe (he can correct me if I'm wrong) he is, in fact, a liberal Democrat. I on the other hand have talked over and over again how I have left the Republican party because of their far right idiotic stances. I have repeatedly talked about how I am willing to study certain programs and how I am not in favor of cuts this administration has taken. But....when I simply stated that I'm not in favor of ushering in a bunch of big entitlement programs, I get accused of reading too many red state bloggers...bla bla bla......When....if anyone is paying attention, it's clear I don't do that.
  11. Thank you....now hopefully the discussion in here can get back on topic.
  12. I came across this tweet because Jake Tapper actually retweeted it.
  13. Really??? Accusing me of reading right wing bloggers and basically parroting their views instead of actually thinking about what I've personally written about over the last few years on here? At best, it was an extremely lazy argument trying to pigeon hole me into a corner that isn't appropriate with my views that I have clearly stated on here.
  14. I'd be OK with this as long as the academic standards are not lowered to a ridiculous level just for athletes at all schools. These kids are STUDENT athletes and they are attending schools of higher learning. These schools also vary in academic standards from public state schools to pretty elite private schools. A school like Notre Dame or Duke should not be forced to lower their standards for athletes if they don't want to. (yes, I know it already happens at some schools. But, it shouldn't be forced on them by the NCAA)
  15. There is no such thing as "too much kool Aid" in my book. I'm pretty close to right there with you. Heck, why not be....it's fun.
  16. Oh good friggen Lord..... Are you talking about a tweet that quotes redstate.com? I literally clicked on that link thinking...."wow....I've never read this site before". And, I posted that only because I found it interesting that it uses Jake Tapper as showing there are issues with the credibility of the author (which is a valid concern).....that same Jake Tapper trump and the right accuse of being "Fake News". I have repeatedly stated on here that I don't view the government as the big bad monster the far right try to make it out to be. I have said over and over that I believe there are certain things the government needs to do and I support certain levels of social support that any modern society should have. For instance, I have spoken out in favor of studying farther if a single payer plan for healthcare would be best for the US and I very well may get fully behind it. I have also posted on here criticisms of the Trump administration cutting programs. So...instead of actually thinking about my stances on issues that I have written about many times over a number of years on this site, you fire back with the typical rant about how horrible the "right" is and acting like I'm some form of alt right whack job. By accusing me of being that right wing whack job, you in turn....have shown your really good at jumping on Democrat catch phrases and attacks of anyone who would question their ideas.
  17. I find this whole relationship between Ivanka and Trump interesting. She is smart enough woman to see what is going on. But.....I also know that people in relationships can block certain things out and enable the abuser.
  18. It wasn't long ago that I had to go through and weed out some that were just clogging up my feed. Many of them were Husker recruiting related and a total waste of bandwidth. I got it down to 100 feeds I was following. I would like to get it down farther.
  19. I can't seem to find them now. But, I'm pretty sure I've read someone on here claiming that what the Dems need to do is "gain power and then vote in wide sweeping government programs so that people believe they are working for them". Again, I looked through a few threads quickly and I'm not going to waste more time on it.
  20. Oh BS....you know me better than that.
  21. In Nebraska, is an 8th grader even allowed to play varsity sports?
  22. I firmly believe that if Frost is able to be the coach we all think he can be here, a couple years from now there will be players on this team that everyone looks at and says..."wow....didn't know he could play like that".
  23. That graphic can be very heavily manipulated depending on exactly where you put the center point and what you use to determine where that center point is.
  24. Admittedly, that comment was about posts on here.
