@Huskers93-97 you seem to be mostly arguing with thin air and thinking you are arguing with other posters. Who here has said coaching isn't a major factor? Who here has said that good talent doesn't follow good coaches? Who here has said that no 3 star players ever become stars? Who here has said 3 star players aren't going to come here and succeed?

Since it probably would take a book of 500+ pages to fully explain the intricacies of recruiting, player evaluation and timing of the recruiting process.....I'll agree that it's much more to it than what any of us have said in this thread.

He really wasn't here long enough to really prove he was the top notch recruiter he was bragged up to be. The pathetic DB play this year remains to be proven as either a problem with him or the system. There's a big chance it was the system. But, he needs to go somewhere and prove he can coach a unit to be really good. Because, he wasn't able to do it here.

There is a difference when you get a commitment from a low rated kid in the summer or fall after fostering a good relationship and watching him play.....and offering and getting a commitment from a low rated player a couple days before signing day.

Neither do I. I always mark it up as..."the coach must see something nobody else sees". But, I'm also not in the camp of fans who instantly go to....."Wow...this player is under rated."

I have never ever seen anyone claim that a lower rated player may rise up and be a stud. However, I believe if you took the average rating out of HS for all the starters in the NFL, their rating would be much much higher than these players. There will always be outliers that you can point to. But, the odds of being successful if you recruit nothing but .800 players compared to recruiting .980 players....isn't comparable.

How is being elected President an accomplishment in the first year of a Presidency? The fact it's #1 tells a lot about the rest of the list.

So....if you think they can compete with anyone in the country or...."belong" with a team that beat both teams in the championship game....and they go undefeated....I find SOS as a pretty piss poor excuse to exclude someone. Fact is, they were excluded because power 5 programs didn't want them there and we only have a 4 team playoff so it was easy to exclude them. All of that is very easy to fix.
