  1. lol Frazier was fast- I thought he ran like a 4.5 electronic 40 LOL he wasn't the fastest guy on the field. TA is fast too. But, both of them were fast enough with running instincts to get away from faster defenders.
  2. This year's schedule really sucks. I'm trying to get my son, who plays HS basketball, to a game this year. Only 4 home weekend conference games.
  3. Well, it was discussed last week that on the zone read, some teams had success always taking the RB and hitting him. Make the QB beat you. That beats up the RB and wears out the QB....and, the player that is probably the slowest is going to end up with the ball. I think Nebraska took that attitude some what in our game. If Northwestern runs a lot of zone read, I'm fine using that theory again.
  4. I wasn't at the game. However, I did notice our uniforms made theirs look like they were thrown together and mixed and matched at the goodwill store.
  5. If you have a community that supports the school with families who instill education as important....then yes, spending more will improve education. However, there are lots of school districts where one heck of a lot of money is pumped in but the community around it sucks so bad that the education still sucks and pumping millions more in isn't going to make a big difference. No, that statement doesn't mean I'm against spending more on education. But, let's be honest about what those results are going to be. Until a student's family life instills the idea that education is important and so go work hard and get good grades to improve your life....well....that kid's chances of improving his education is pretty slim. I think it's also pretty meaningless to look at what we spent per student 50 years ago and compare it to now. 50 years ago, we didn't have the technology that's needed in schools to really prepare the student for what is expected of them in the work place once they are out. That technology is expensive. Now, personally, I think our school systems are doing a pretty dang good job with some obvious major exceptions that need improving. My kids go to public schools and they have received a very good education that has allowed them to go to college and succeed. Our school also is improving on the vocational education for people who are not going to go to a 4 year college.
  6. That will be crazy. Cubs Cards game would get over around 2:00-2:30. Bars will be full with them and then throw in all the Husker fans????
  7. That was basically the point of my post.
  8. Titanic vs Lusitania Have to say....I got a chuckle out of you posting in this thread.
  9. Might be starting to feel that the coach recruiting him might not be there next year.
  10. So, the turning point was when Bo got fired and Riley hired? There would be a very good argument for that as far as the program management goes.
  11. I agree with your definition, but think a conference title would be that turn. That's not the end destination, but that is what will truly get this program back into the mix of elite programs, turn heads, get headlines, grab recruits, etc. What happened that led to the program winning that conference title? If you are going to go that route, lets just say this Oregon win as the turning point. What lead to the Oregon win? you could literally play that childish game with any "turning point" that is picked. Wow....testy testy....It's OK....we are just discussing things here. Everything's cool....... BTW....where did I pick the Oregon game as the turning point? Take a deep breath....everything's going to be OK.
  12. I agree with your definition, but think a conference title would be that turn. 13. Led us to winning seasons for the first time in a long time. When he came in, we had just finished a period from 1942 - 1948 where we went 20 - 53 (.273). He went 6-2-1 in his second year.
  14. I guess you're definition of a turning point is different than mine. When you are going somewhere in the car, at some point, you have to turn the car in that direction to get to your desired destination. THAT is the turning point. Arriving at that destination isn't the turning point. Example....the 95 championship wasn't the turning point that put us there. It was the decisions TO made from 90-92 that was the turning point that put us in position to win those championships.
  15. Let me throw this out there as a thought I had last night. I remember going to games in the 80s while I was in college (yes, I remember most of them). I also have gone to games most years since. Looking back to those years, I don't remember the stadium being like it has been at some games the last few years. In the 80s and 90s, we had fans that would sit there with their arms crossed with the attitude...."well...this is what we should be doing"...while having headphones on listening to the radio. Sure, the crowd would get sort of loud for certain plays...but, even in big games, I don't remember the stadium just rock'n. So, comparing it to now.....is part of the change the fact the fans are pumped up and excited for success? When a team like Oregon comes in, we don't sit thereon our duffs and just think....well...we should be winning anyway. We get loud...we get excited...we get pumped up....because you know what? We might not win...and dang it's exciting when we do. I must say...I love winning and want to keep winning. But, this is a hell of a lot more fun atmosphere in the stadium.
  16. It will take more than just this game to look back and say...Yep...that was a turning point. Also, IF we keep winning and our program is heading in the direction we want it to head, I would look back at the Purdue debacle and the MSU game the next week as more of a turning point than the Oregon game. The Oregon game will be further evidence of what transpired between the two games last year.
  17. They are only averaging 2.8 yards per rush as an entire team.
  18. I expect him to come out and constantly say...."I'm awesome...everybody loves me...I'm a great negotiator"....bla bla bla..... He will then try to talk about issues and not have a clue. BUT...he will throw out just enough BS that his followers will actually THINK he knows what he is talking about. You know.....because he knows so much more than the generals....etc. Hopefully people start seeing as the fraud he is once again.
  19. There is a lot in the article I agree with. But, this quote leaves me scratching my head. If our education is so bad compared to other countries, why are so many foreigners coming here to be educated?
  20. OK...Now I'm starting to feel better about our situation.....and....maybe now realize what the problem has been all along. At some point in time shortly before 2004, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pit started an affair. It became public in 2005 when Jennifer Anniston filed for divorce. We have basically struggled this entire time of this relationship. NOW....Angelina and Brad have filed for divorce. This is a sign that wrongs of the past are all starting to get righted. GO BIG RED!!!!!!!! RESTORE THE ORDER!!!!!!
  21. Ummmmm....no. We are headed into Big 10 play that is going to have bigger and better defensive lines. It's a good sign no matter what you are doing when your yards per carry go up as the game goes on. Some of that is because we are wearing them down. Some of it is because they realize they have to adjust to account for our awesome WRs and an improved TA. All of it goes together. When we get into BIG 10 play, we are going to have to make sure we have a good enough offense that they can't just stack the box along with these bigger and better D lines. Not sure where you care coming up with what you posted. At the risk of facing another semantics argument, you could look in this thread. And posts #5 & 6 above. I must be taking those comments very differently than you.
  22. If you notice, the tightening of the polls has happened basically during the quiet period of the elections. Sure, they are going around and giving speeches. But, there really isn't anything that has them saying things on a national stage. They just lob insults back and forth through media. Now....we are about to go into the debate season when they will be required to stand up in front of the nation and actually try to talk intelligently. There is a big chance that Trump will go back to losing support.
  23. Trump is playing right into the hands of the extremist groups over there. They attacked the world trade center in an effort to draw us into a war over there. It worked. Now, Trump wants to double down on that.
