  1. That's fine. But it doesn't keep the coach from pressuring them to sign during that early signing window. Gonna have to agree to disagree on this one.
  2. Basically, if we won a championship and then we were investigated and found to have won it with players that were bought, I would be absolutely pissed. I have no desire to win championships only then have that happen.
  3. Not sure I'm following. If you have a quiet period around the early signing day like they do now, it give the kid some time away from the coach.
  4. I believe it would allow coaches to put extreme pressure on the recruit to sign papers when maybe they haven't had the ability to think things through. The kid gets pressured only to regret it later but he's stuck. And how would that be different from just having an early signing day? The coach isn't sitting at their kitchen table pressuring them to sign right then and there.

  6. Why are there arguments about who liked what coach?
  7. Still using the same bad numbers that you were using earlier for 2011. It's not my tweet.
  8. Wish him luck. Excited to see who replaces him.
  9. I personally am not for this. But, I am for major changes in recruiting regulations AND an early signing date like basketball has.
  10. I'm not sure its as big as a talent drop off as you think it is. From the 2011 class and their 11 "elite athletes", only 5 made a contribution, and 5 didn't make it past 2 years in Lincoln. Also notice that 2 of our best players from those classes (Abdullah, Collins) are not on the list. 2011 - 5 contributors (1 juco) - A Green, C Jackson, R Klatchko, T Moore, T Peat, R Reeves, D Santos, D Stafford, B Starling, Z Sterup, J Turner 2012 - 4 contributors (1 juco) - Z Anderson, G McMullen, A Moore, M Siesay, P Thurston, J Westercamp 2013 - 4 contributors (1 juco) - J Banderas, R Gregory, M Newby, T Newby, A Taylor 2011-13: 13 contributors (3 juco) 2014 - T Farmer, N Gates, M Harrison, M Wilbon 2015 - A Anderson, J Barnett, K Davis, E Lee, S Morgan, J Stevenson 2016 - M Dismuke, L Jackson, P O'Brien, J Raridon 2014-2016: 12 of the 14 "elite athletes" remain. It will be interesting to see how many of them turn into contributors. That's not a valid comparison because you're trying to compare the known with the unknown. The 4 players from 2016 are still here ? I would hope so... they just signed their papers 2 days ago. The only way you could make a valid comparison would be to compare them when the 2015-2016 players are juniors and seniors. Attrition is something that happens at all schools... all the time. Our 2011 class was way overboard on the attrition/non-contributor for elite players. Not taking that into consideration when claiming our talent level is going to drop considerably in the next year is just ignoring facts. 11 players in that class is a major part of your stats you are using to prop up your argument. 54% of our elite players in that class either left or haven't contributed. That is way above what any class since has been. Hopefully, into the future, the trend of our 4* or better players contributing will keep growing.
  11. Wow....It's interesting seeing Leaf as a possible help in this situation.
  12. One of the biggest problems I have seen we have had is the recruits that are supposed to be our best recruits, so often have not panned out. That is at least true when you look at the 2011 class. It doesn't matter if you recruit 4* players if they don't make it past their 1st year or don't make it to campus at all. We need to turn that around.
  13. I'm counting 6. https://nebraska.n.rivals.com/commitments/football/2015 Based on what ? I'm looking at the Rivals site now as I type this and it says 5 for 2015. 6 Anderson, Barnett, Khalil Davis, Lee, Morgan, Stevenson
  14. I hope he gets through college here without getting too homesick for his mom.....which, is not a knock on him. It's pretty tough sometimes for a kid to be away from a parent with deteriorating health. the staff might have to put in some extra work to make sure he remains happy and content being this far away.
  15. I don't understand why we haven't been able to get a big guy in. However, I highly doubt the coaching staffs lack the desire to get one. They have done well recruiting every other position. I'm pretty sure they have put the same effort in trying to get a big guy than they do the other positions.
  16. +100000000000 I think there are two sides to that coin. There are people who will defend the staff at all costs even though there are things they need to work on and get better at. There are also people who absolutely will not acknowledge that there are some good things happening and take every chance they can to trash the staff. In reality, those two groups are extremely small. The team got better towards the end of the season. They recruited pretty well. There were some very favorable things said about our staff on the recruiting trail by HS coaches, parents and recruits. The staff also made some mistakes last year in some games that probably cost us some wins. They also didn't recruit a DT in this class. We also missed out on a big WR. A balanced approach is suggested. But, if I'm going to error one way or the other, I'll pick being positive and supportive. I see no reason nor have the desire to be negative all the time.
  17. 40% of the California kids that came to the Big Ten came to Nebraska. I'm liking that pipeline for talent.
  18. I'm a little confused on Jackson. I see so many people put him as a safety. However, hasn't Riley come out and say they plan on using him as a boundary corner? He's listed on here as a CB.
