  1. A million times, this. +1,000,000 Football is a gigantic revenue source that funds countless academic activities. Perlman absolutely should be judged on how he manages the football program. Really? Show me a single academic activity that football provides money to. Just one link will suffice. From a non monetary perspective, it's an invaluable brand that advertises the university across the country and attracts students. As others have said, the football program funds nothing directly as far as academic activity to the University.
  2. Banker So, he's depositing his paycheck at the same time he is reviewing recruits films?
  3. So, who is the third guy in this picture? Josh Harvey ‏@JoshHarveyScout 43m43 minutes ago #Huskers RT @TheGundy: Watching 2016 LBs with @Coach_Bray, had to wear my #Blackshirts hat! #GBR The one closest is Gunderson. I think the middle guy is Bray, who is the third?
  4. It leaves me scratching my head why people are coming out saying they don't trust Shawn Eichorst. Really, what has he done to not have your trust? Repeatedly, we have witnessed Bo not controlling his temper. We have heard one audio tape already of him having absolutely no respect for the fans and administration to the point of him being an immature idiot. So.....Shawn fires him and all of a sudden we shouldn't trust him? That makes no sense to me.
  5. After the total mess that Bo has made this entire transition and how he has attempted to affect the emotions on the team moving forward, I am VERY VERY VERY glad we have a head coach that isn't learning on the job and has experience and is bringing a staff that (at least so far) appears to not be learning on the job. These guys need to be able to deprogram the kids that are on the team and change the culture to a more productive and positive influence on their lives. I'm glad we have Riley.
  6. Bo is good for one thing. Last night, I had a very good conversation with my son on leadership and was able to use Bo as an example of someone who had an opportunity to be a positive influence on people below him and he totally blew it. It was a very good learning experience for my son.
  7. meanwhile Michigan offers Harbaugh 8 mil per year in a 6 year deal........and we got our guy for 2 mil? i would say Michigan knows a splash hire when they see one! I agree with what you are saying, it gives you the sense of a lateral movement instead of a step up like it appears Michigan is trying, I think most had that just got pumped by the neighbors cat look on their face when Riley was announced and it doesn't look like his assistants will be much different. It will be an interesting next few years as everyone either praises or condems the hiring of Riley depending on the results he produces. And, Harbaugh turned them down.
  8. Over the last couple I've had the chance to work with 50+ Puertp Ricans. The comments are consistent. The country is beautiful, the economy is bad and the crime has pushed the educated out.I can only recall one person returning to PR. Most want to stay in Nebraska or States. I have a very large customer there so I spend some time there actually with locals and away from tourist traps. I understand what you are saying. However, there are some very nice areas of PR and I have never felt unsafe when I'm there. I drive all over the island and only after dark to I really try to stay away from some areas. No different than any other city in the US. However, the PR residents I know, want to be a state. They love the US and actually want to pay taxes and contribute to the country more than they are now. In turn, maybe some of the crime issues and economic issues can improve. Of course people have moved away...moved for a reason. They didn't want to live there anymore. And, people who still live there live there for a reason...they like it and want to make it better. No different than people who move away from Nebraska compared to the ones who grew up here and stayed.
  9. I have mixed feelings about Puerto Rico becoming a state. I love it just the way it is and want to live there some day. Then I also believe they deserve to be a state and think they will be soon. I just don't want it to change much.
  10. Are there some beers that are easier to brew than others? I would like to try something similar to a killians Irish Red.
  11. Here's what is laughable and unbelievable about Bo. He expects others to do what he doesn't do himself. He expects his players to act like men and respect him and everyone else. Meanwhile, he doesn't respect anyone. He expects his boss (AD) to be out in public and "lead" the team and everyone by being accessible to people. Meanwhile, he despises the press and the fans and really had no desire to be out in public representing the team and program. This is a perfect example to everyone how how some people's minds work. HE is perfect and everyone else is trash.
  12. Personally, if I'm a player and I'm sitting in this meeting, I have a light go off in my head and say....."wow....this guy isn't anywhere close to the leader I thought he was". Obviously one of the players had that happen and that's how the tape got out.
  13. I agree with what someone said on 1620 a little bit ago. This tells one heck of a lot about his character. Bo could have taken this meeting to have a chance to thank the players. He could have spoken to them personally and told them how special they are. He could have encouraged them to continue being the best they could be. What did he do??? He made it all about him. It was all about how he got screwed. It was all about trying to make the entire team be against Nebraska and the administration. He wanted to take one last opportunity to make this team worse off without him. Unbelievable.
  14. Bo basically burned the bridge with me with the FU fans tape. When he was kept for another year, I had the attitude of...."Fine...I'll support you but you better friggen win". He didn't. Now he's fired and we more and more see the true personality of Bo. It's all about him. He does nothing wrong. He is king. Anyone that opposes him is the problem. So, screw you Bo. Go off into la la land acting like a spoiled little child because that's basically how you have acted ever since you have been here. Sometimes that was behind the scenes and sometimes it was in public.
  15. But if it is the difference of being able to get another recruit or keeping him for one year, what do you choose? With how thin we are at that position next year in experienced talent, I keep him here and go after some LBs next year with at least one being a JUCO.
  16. Well, I didn't know Sanders so I had to go do some reading. After reading his beliefs on trade, I'm willing to listen to more.
  17. Meh.....this sounds to me like the same old drivel that Bo has instilled since day one. He is God and everyone else is just an irritation. Nobody supports him and his program and he has to do everything. Nobody does anything of his players. They would all starve to death and have no clue what to do if he wasn't in their lives. Time to move on.
  18. Wow...tough crowd. The kid battled gallantly this year at a position hat was extremely thin. Many times, he was the most aggressive LB on the field. Next year, we are looking to be very very thin at that position. He has major game time experience. And....you just want to say....see ya???? Even if we had one or two guys who develop to be better than him, he would be some very needed depth at that position. Who knows how much bette he could be with more of an attacking defensive scheme.
  19. agree 100%. Seems that the only reason this went on so long was both parties trying to secure the Cuban American votes and therefore the Florida electoral college #s. This has not made any sense since the fall of the Soviet Union. On one hand we have the largest communist country as our biggest trading partner in China and yet we snub the small island nation 90 miles away. As Knapp said, we could have flipped them to the democracy side by now. If the relationships had been normalized decades ago, capitalism may have flipped the nation towards democracy in spite of the Castro brothers. Here is what I have never understood about the Cuban embargo. I remember a few years ago, our governor traveling to Cuba and marketing Nebraska ag products and coming back and ranting about what a great trip it was for the state farmers. Meanwhile, I had a customer that was located not in the US who wanted to resell products into Cuba. We were told we would be in deep doodoo if that happened because of the embargo. That made absolutely no scents to me.
  20. This I agree with. Bussey would be most talented back on our roster. We will be fine without him though. Wilbon was a plan b or c that decommitted from vandy right? Bussey is and has always been our only guy and we have fended off the wolves until right up until signing day. Too bad we couldn't hold the sec off any longer. Kid will be special. Statements like this just make me shake my head. Yes, in HS it seems like he would be an absolute stud. However, we have at least 2-3 players at that position on the team right now that were the same way. One was the best RB in the state of California. The other was one of the top 2 RBs in the state of Texas. We have very very good talent on this team right now. Saying a kid who hasn't even stepped foot on campus yet is clearly better than them is a stretch. He would be a very nice addition that I hope we get. That's as far as it goes.
  21. I was fine with the embargo and cutting ties when it happened after their relations with USSR. Now it's time to move on and build relations again. Not much controversy here.
  22. It sure is nice to see a coach who (at least on TV and in pictures) appears to get along with people outside of the team.
  23. If Shawn Watson can get another job at a power house program, Tim Beck will too. I wish him well. NOW....I'm excited to find out who will be calling the plays here next year.
  24. I don't think she's misguided necessarily. There really isn't much evidence to support the notion that rapists and child molesters are rehabilitated. For argument's sake, let's take her at her word that she was raped, even though Peter was never convicted of it criminally.....she sees a guy who raped her...he's never really been punished for what he did (if the worst thing that happens to a guy with Christian's rap sheet is that he has trouble getting drafted, then I'd say he's gotten away with quite a bit), and now he's being implicitly championed as a model for reform and, strangely, a resource for creating preventative measures against assault. My personal opinion...Christian Peter was and is a scumbag. He's never really been held accountable for what he's done, and for this article to paint him as some sort of Phoenix metaphor..rising from the ashes...the guy never really lost anything. He hurt a lot of people and probably should have been in jail long ago. He says he made mistakes (nice way of putting what he's done), but mostly offers up a nice long list of excuses...ranging from steroid use to ADD to dyslexia. If Redmond was raped as she says he was...can you maybe see why she thinks this is a cruel joke? He's being brought in to prevent sexual assault, and yet....he stops short of admitting he even committed assault. I hear his language..and what I see is a guy who is still not accountable and really doesn't think he did anything wrong....except he says he should have called her back after 'consensualy' having sex with her. My BS meter is screaming. Just my opinion. I don't think she is misguided. It is fully understandable her having the attitude she does. However, it's also understandable that an organization like the NFL uses the situation to try to learn from and improve what they are doing in this area. Hopefully, at some point, it's successful and she can appreciate that.
