  1. I hope when the first team defense is out there they run jet sweep on the first play to see if we have learned anything in the offseason? granted I want our defense to be ready for all things but Im a little afraid what the results might be. In order to be a great defense you have to be willing to stop any and all plays regardless when it is called...
  2. Same question - there was a 100-play scrimmage yesterday, right? I haven't seen a report anywhere. There isn't going to be reports. It was a closed scrimmage. I threw this out a bit ago. It's not much, but it's more than I've found so far. Thanks I appreciate it!
  3. has anyone heard how the scrimmage went last night? Injuries?
  4. Im hoping my Chiefs take a shot at him on day 2. Charles and Burkhead nice little combo...better be able to run the ball after what Denver has done in the off-season
  5. Im not sure that his top end speed is going to matter...hes not going to get to use it the SEC. I think I can hear trhe TV now....Heard takes the handoff and immediately met in the backfield by pretty much everyone and he looses 3 on the carry....for his sake he better hope they find some talent on the O-Line...
  6. For the first time in forever we have distance on our side! Lets hope they keep reminding him of that and the family atmosphere being that his brother is already on the team! My fear is the same as yours...lose him to the SEC. Georgia, Vandy, Florida, I just hope the other two dont come calling...funny part is of all the teams Arky hasnt offered yet.
  7. Taylor will get an invite just because his first 3 steps! KR/PR possibly slot reciever is my guess. Hell maybe even a nickle corner...
  8. I think it has to be UCLA. Big wins have that trickle down effect...Team spirit, team confidence, national attention, recruiting...all of these things are effected with a huge win. UCLA will probably be a top 10-15 team when they come to Lincoln and UCLA has a good a shot as any to challenge Oregon or possibly Stanford to win the PAC-12. A win against UCLA keeps getting better as the season progresses as well(BCS Points) Beating UCLA early on could parlay itself into Nebraska being undefeated heading to Ann Arbor. I think Michigan in Michigan is probably going to be our biggest challenge because its a divisional rival and its on the road but I dont think the Michigan game has the same impact on the overall season as the UCLA game. On a side note Im glad we play Penn St late opposed to early. With the lack of schollies and the ware and tare of a big ten season playing them late is more beneficial than early. I also hope we utilize that extra bye week in the season to get more reps for Michigan and to bring in some recruits on OV's. GBR13N13
  9. Quality over quantity. With Abdullah, Cross, Frazier, Newby and Taylor....if we can find one really good back this year I would be happy taking one. Leaving an additional spot open for wherever the staff believes we need it the most! CB, OL, DL...
  10. Great post! Couldn't agree more! But Ill admit as much as it hurts we have to keep trying...eventually we will get one or two of these impact players from the second they step on campus! You get one its easier to get another...they come in bunches!
  11. could ba another possibility at the slot reciever position
  12. we could hire her with the new recruiting rules...i think she could persuade some 17 year old guys to come to Lincoln
  13. It's been reported that he can NOT transfer to another B1G school or Kentucky. As far as I know there is no word on where he is looking. so where did Braylon plan on transfering to if he wants to be closer to home and he cant go to kentucky or any big 10 schools? Pitt, Louisville, Ohio...he should just come back....
  14. I would walk to DONU on or go JUCO and try and get a full ride somewhere else or try to come back in a couple years...
  15. i havent read any of this thread so I apologize if its already been said....has anyone heard where he might transfer too? Kentucky?
  16. Keep growing. The way he catches the ball away from his body he could be a huge threat downfield in the years to come!
  17. except UCLA. Probably will be the most talented team we see all year. I hope that game is at night!
  18. Of any of the freshmen OL to get a redshirt pulled, I think it'd be the other one, Knevel. I could see that happening especially since he will be here early but at the collegiate level its much easier to make the transition from HS to college playing guard or center than tackle. Purely from a pass blocking point of view. Thats why I thought they would redshirt Knevel and not redshirt some of the smaller O-Line signees. Just my opinion. I think we all can agree that if we have a very productive and healthy spring it will be much easier to identify who needs to redshirt and who dosent.
  19. I think redshirting is extremly valuable if evaluated correctly. If there is a wealth of talent at a particular position (for example this year at LB.) I would understand if Banderas and Newby were redshirted. But if there is a serious question at another position like DT or DE I could see almost all of the D-Lineman that signed yesterday to help with depth and trying to make an impact as true freshman! In years past I think that we have acknowledged who was going to redshirt before the season starts this year I think the number will be much lower and you always can redshirt half way through the season if they never see the field. Kind of what they did with Westerkamp last year...
  20. My guess for 2013 non redshirted players: Adam Taylor or Terrell Newby(1 of the 2) Nathan Gerry Chongo Kondolo Matt Finnin Randy Gregory DJ Singelton Gabe Miller Possibly Cethan Carter, Earnest Suttles, Zach Hannon, Dwayne Johnson I think with depth concerns on both lines last year that they may be willing to burn a shirt or two to have the right depth. Of course if they dont need to burn the redshirt they wont...this is just my guess! GBR!
  21. A reporter with huskers online (???) said on radio show today that this could be one to watch with his situation. Im not to familiar with how this works? Is there a timeline to how long this might take?
  22. i was kind of hoping this was the suprise commit...oh well! good luck playing in the SEC and making it to the crap bowl brought to you by waste management and charmin
