It's not really that crazy of a concept. When your offense lines up with Bell, Westerkamp, and DPE why not try to get them the ball? Also, as I stated earlier in the thread, at the start of the third quarter Ameer broke off another 48 yard run then Beck called three straight passes that ended in a touchdown. The next touchdown drive ended with three straight passes as well when I'm sure the running game was working just fine.

The team has been quite a bit sharper this year overall. Yes there's still some cleaning up to do but every team has its issues. The fact is we've taken care of business outside of MSU. Even if Rutgers was an ugly game an 18 point win is taking care of business.

Let's be honest here, did anybody realize that the first drive of the second half Ameer broke off a 49 yard run, Cross ran for a loss of 1, and after a false start Tommy threw three straight passes for 11, 10, and 8 yards for a TD? Then on the next drive three straight passes were called again with the third being a four yard TD pass to Westy?

It's better to enjoy football season than try to downplay every bit of success this team has. It's not like a Gatorade bucket got dumped on Bo and they acted like it as a conference or national championship while there was a riot in haymarket and flaming dumpsters pushed down O street. (well the last part might happen every Sat. night) They simply enjoyed beating NW by three touchdowns on their homecoming and today they're over it and beginning to get prepared for Rutgers.

I thought that was the whole problem that he takes what the opponent gives them instead of just saying, "This is what we're going to do, now try to stop it".

Hard to beat a team twice in a season. Wisconsin did it to us in our first year in the Big Ten.

No credit to give to the defense? Or that fact that the Huskers didn't pack it in? You know like every team under Bo does?

I'm not too worried about the defense yet. We'll face better offenses but, not that much speed until possibly bowl season. The defensive gameplan wasn't to keep Miami and 3 points and under 200 yards. Quite frankly if the coaches tried to gameplan for that Miami might have hung 48 on us. It was about keeping their two best receivers out of the game and contain Duke Johnson. Yeah they got a few chunk plays and scores but, never that big momentum changing type play, example: Kenny Bell's TD. I thought Saturday night was similar to 94 because Miami made some plays, Nebraska was able to respond and force some errors, Thug U became Thug U, and most importantly we wore them down from the midpoint of the 1st quarter on.

I don't think Roach is that guy but, I'm pretty sure he's a step in the right direction.

like i said.... But the issue here isnt jawing. Its pushing and punching and cheap shots? Who crossed that line? Surprise surprise. I get it. I just wish he would have left it at talking, and not retaliated towards the end like he did. Mitchell is pretty damn lucky he didn't cost us a flag either, but I like the fact he's not afraid to take down a 300lb lineman. Single file racing blah, plus NASCAR events are expensive as f#*k Well it was a birthday present so I feel pretty obligated to go.

I would definitely take part but, I'm going to KC for the NASCAR races that weekend.

I noticed a few plays where we had a blitz dialed up against the run but, their RB's were able to bounce the ball to the outside where we no longer had a LB in containment. I think it's just the nature of football fans to remember what we want to see. It's easy to remember the blitz that knocked back the opponent's offense 5 yards but not the one that gave up an 80 yard tunnel screen (Georgia 2013). Just like it's easy to remember a running play that went for 15 yards but, not the run that lost 2 and put the offense in a 3rd and 6.

I have been very impressed with Byerson Cockrell so far. It was a huge concern losing Charles Jackson for the year but it seems like Cockrell is playing pretty solid in the nickel spot.

It's not that Beck doesn't use TE's it's that last year every time we threw to Cethan Carter it seemed to turn into a drop. I remember at least 5-10 plays from last year just like his touchdown from last night where he was wide open down the seam off of play action but couldn't haul them in.

Matt Davison picked it about right saying that the Fresno D would take chances and sometimes be able to stop our offense but, we'd hit some big plays. Some things need cleaned up but, that doesn't mean we have a bad team. Good things will come if they keep working hard and improving week to week.

If we're really that bad of a team we shouldn't complain about the starters still being in to try to work out some bugs and....
