  1. While I appreciate the more open environment for women to 'tell their story' my concern is that there can be false claims presented for various reasons - political, revenge, monetary, etc. So we end up trying the accused in the court of public opinion. The falsely accused are summarily banished from a career, a family, a future. The accuser got her (or could be his) position presented in public but the accused will find it difficult to present their side of the story in this type of 'judicial medium'. So, I think there is some danger here - and we have to be slow to draw conclusions. With all of that said - I want this to be clear FALSE ACCUSERS WILL BE RELATIVELY RARE and all complaints should be taken seriously. We should also remember that the accused is not being tried by a jury of his/her piers overseen by an impartial judge. So we should be quick to listen but slow to judge.
  2. My Bias score was 0. However, 7/18 wasn't good on the questions. So does that make me unbiased but ignorant The site notes the following to help us 'deal' with our biases. and this
  3. This is a funny response to the above by Colbert - video included. https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/stephen-colbert-donald-trump-jr-emails_us_5a2a0254e4b069ec48ac2e2b?ncid=edlinkushpmg00000313
  4. Wow those practices will be a mark contrast from what we've heard has been occurring under MR. Up tempo 'warm ups' and fast paced drills so that the players have game day pace ingrained into them. That LB coach is one smart dude.
  5. This brings up a thought - I wonder how Nebraska fans will remember Mike Riley in the future? Will he be despised like Bill Callahan - a swear word in some quarters or will he simply be forgotten like Bill Jennings and many others before The BobFather came on the scene? My gut feeling is that he won't be despised like BC - even thought he (MR) had a worse record. BC was our first real taste of what NU football was like pre 1962. He was the first of the Non-Husker coaches and is seen as the one that started to migrate us away from NU traditions and culture. My guess is that MR will be seen as the bridge we had to cross to get back home (continuing the homecoming theme of this thread) - getting us back to the Nebraska Way. So, if SF is successful, & I believe he will be, I think MR will be soon forgotten and otherwise seen as a nice guy that was the wrong fit for NU. I wish him well back at OSU
  6. The Oregonian article http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2017/12/mike_riley_to_return_to_oregon.html Quoted in part:
  7. Amen. Got that right. In the mean time, Frost got some good experience as a HC, NU fans learned a bit more patience (so I hope) as it worked out to finally get the right guy to guide Husker Nation. Sometimes it is through many travails that we inherit the promise land. (Someone can now start singing an old Gospel hymn). In the end, I'm glad for Mike and glad for us. A mistake corrected is a lesson learned. As others mentioned this will save us a few coins.
  8. From the article: Mike Riley, who will serve as the assistant head coach with a-to-be determined position assignment, has won numerous national honors including the then Pac-10 Coach of the Year. He returns to OSU for the third time as the school's all-time winningest head coach with 93 victories in stints from 1997-98 and 2003-14. The former head coach at Nebraska and in the professional ranks with the NFL's then San Diego Chargers, the Canadian Football League's Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the World League's San Antonio Riders, has led OSU to eight bowl games. He has coached three of the Beavers' national award recipients (Mike Hass, Brandin Cooks, Alexis Serna). "Current and former players thriving in the NFL and in life are proof of Coach Riley's tremendous ability to recruit outstanding young men," Smith said. "He understands what it takes to win in this conference, and how to evaluate and develop student-athletes. There is no one better to have represent OSU in the homes of recruits as we build this program." 9. We had our home coming - Frost to Nebraska. Mike Riley gets his - named assistant HC. I can hear Dorthy quietly saying "There's no place like home. There's no place like home." http://www.osubeavers.com/staff.aspx?staff=1510
  10. All Brainstorming here: With the recruitment of Wilson from the JUCO, I suspect that Frost might see him as the potential immediate fix for the position with Martinez as the long term candidate for QB. Wilson has college experience under his belt - Gebbia doesn't. While I think O'Brien fits better than Lee, I still have a hard time seeing him excelling in Frost's O. My forecast if the recruitment plays our correctly: Wilson starts, Gebbia backs up, Martinez red shirts, O'Brien transfers.
  11. I came away wt the same feeling. Why were they here - apparently just to get a pay check and ride out their time to retirement. The saddest point: Wasted years for those who graduated under their 'leadership'. The 'missed opportunity' cost is huge here - on a personal level for those players and as a team as a whole. A huge waste.
  12. With this information, I see a transformational year next year. I think we will be much better than expected- the coaching upgrade will be huge.
  13. Maybe the Dems aren't so Godless after all, Ann.
  14. The adults better take charge of this mess very soon, including Pence and Kelly besides Mattis and Tillerson. Speaker Ryan tweeted in favor of the announcement - so no help there. Trump acting as the lone wolf of foreign policy is destroying all credibility. So when does he unilaterally announce the war against NK? He has ticked off England, the whole MidEast, insulted and then caved into China, has a twitter war wt Fat Boy, ticks off our partners in Canada and Mexico over trade (haven't heard much on that lately - we ran a Yuge traded deficit this last month. )
  15. Congrats Scott!! This will play well wt recruits for sure. http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=100&ATCLID=211688698 Now wouldn't it be nice to see him win it again within 2 years here. However, I think he will be consentrating on the other hardware - Div, Conf, Bowl, and NC hardware.
  16. Makes you wonder how you go from Amway baby to Blackwater secret agent? Too many game sets as a kid and he took it global.
  17. Yes BRB, I use to think Orwellian double speak was a craft that was perfected by the Democrats. However, I think the repubs have outdone the dems in this black art. How many pretzels can the republicans make out of one issue - very many it appears -- as they twist themselves with convoluted and incoherent reasons for backing Moore. These pretzels will shatter in 2018 elections.
  18. Stagnation to Stagflation says Greenspan in this video. He says Trump did things backwards - should have addressed the debt and deficits before addressing taxes. He thinks we'll slow down to 2% growth. very short video https://www.yahoo.com/finance/video/alan-greenspan-were-stagnation-sta-150300893.html and this OPED the author believes a VAT - Value added Tax will be coming to us with the next downturn - https://finance.yahoo.com/news/national-sales-tax-coming-161144285.html
  19. Pretty damming video and discussion. I agree with Romney - Ray Moore would be a stain on the Republicans if voted to the Senate. Again, repubs are selling their soul to get a republican vote in the senate.
  20. Another good interview wt BTN. I love him saying Go Big Red at the end.
  21. Red - you may be right on the 'chained' CPI - I thought I heard 'changed' but my ears aren't what they use to be. I agree on the inflation - it is still a bogeyman that haunts me since I lived through the Carter years and it became a bigger bogeyman when republicans in general and radio talk hosts in particular mentioned it in light of the Obama stimulus (How many radio talk hosts were hustling 'buy gold' to combat the run away inflation that surely come?). However, I do think inflation is under reported. I believe food and fuel was removed from inflationary numbers during GWB later term or early in Obama's term. For the middle class those 2 items are huge inflationary pressure points. My wife and I feel that the groceries cost much more now than they did when we had two hungry boys in the house (but then again, by looks of the growth of my girth - I may have taken on their share also!)
  22. Dude - this action alone should be impeachment material. This is very dangerous, sets a very bad precedence and is set up for no good reason other than to protect a president with Nixon like (or worse) paranoia as your post noted. You know I'd rather our country become 100% Democrat in the Senate, House and WH and maintain constitutional rule of law vs going down this path of protecting a psyco republican president. I'd rather take the excesses of liberalism (and I say that as a moderate conservative) than go down the path of the alt-right, fascism, and neo-nazi like behavior of this president. Strong words for someone who has voted Repub in presidential elections since 1976. (I've voted for dems in state, local, and federal elections however - and will probably do so again in the next election)
  23. In another CF move, Trump has riled up another whole area of the world by one simple proclamation -- Trump says he will move the embassy to Jerusalem. This has friends and foes up in arms from Turkey to Saudi Arabia. So much for his early 2017 feel good Middle East tour. He just destroyed it with this ill advised move. Yes the Israel loves it and I would support it myself in principle AT THE RIGHT TIME but this isn't the right time. The idiot should work on the peace process first and then use the embassy move as a bone thrown to Israel to counter a concession given to the Palestine leaders. So much for being the great negotiator - you've played away one of the biggest chips before you needed to. (Such a bad move I wonder if Putin is pulling the strings in order to increase Russian influence in the area. ) https://www.newsmax.com/politics/ml-trump-jerusalem/2017/12/06/id/830149/
  24. yes - what could go wrong with that . I wonder if they have a special name for it like .... Subversive Service
