  1. With Todd Peat Jr eating or on the way out? Eatting haha
  2. I don't have any connections, it's only from following the program and reading this board mainly. Not for five years. Milt was brought in to consult starting I forget when, 2011? Maybe earlier. The 2010-2011 seasons run together in my memory a little. There's another guy too aside from Milt and Garrison, I forget who...some former Husker OL, I think, also helping around. Dangit, somebody help me out here...point is, Barney had to get help brought in because they needed to shore up that position group. And our OL is still not satisfactory, without which we simply cannot demand excellent results, I think. Want a 12 win team, you're gonna need a pretty bangin' line. (edit: I think it was probably the '10 season and that other guy was Stai. Not totally sure) Stai is helping with the OL and Milt has been for couple years. We basically have added two OL coaches and a tutor for Cotton and we still suck...time to get rid of our OL coaches and bring in a stud OL coach and recruiter
  3. may be he didn't need to. Five years, Milt consulting, an extra coach later, the stasis and backslide of our OL has been a huge liability and limits what the team has been able to do. Not sure I'll ever be convinced that we shouldn't have shelled out for a star OL coach from the beginning. And I hope that's what we'll do now. You are spot on
  4. Who knows maybe the new AD won't be a puss. Any chance we could get Mark Cuban as a consultant? So your saying the old AD was a puss. With the wallet. I would have to agree with the puss statement
  5. Wouldn't mind seeing a new DC. Beck can stay. New O-Line coach would be nice too. Bo calls the defensive plays. So if we get a DC we need to have one that is actually in charge of the defense
  6. Should be on front row sports website to be viewed....aka the greatest streaming sports website period
  7. He tweeted a pic of his LOI. Rivals is worthless for basketball recruiting....tai Webster isn't even rated by them....
  8. Williams and Curry I like Peat is a beast in the cafeteria
  9. Because that's the moral thing to do. Most of the time, the fact that these players don't pan out isn't because they don't want to. It's because they either get injured or just don't materialize for one reason or another. Bo said this just this year around NSD. It's the coaches who are responsible for evaluating talent for their football talent. If a kid doesn't pan out, it's not his fault unless he's just along for the free ride. Scholarships are renewable yearly....if they don't think they can be sent packing they might just do a Todd Peat Jr
  10. I am more than happy to eat crow for it as I said I would in my thread awhile back. A certain player told me he expected Knevel to be N very soon based on things he said on his visit. I ran with it, but this beating, if Alabama offers. Will be another nail Saban can put in Knevels coffin to lock him up.
  11. I won't disagree that Osborne had some good classes, but he had quite a few more luxary's that coaches today don't have. Schollarship limits & partial qualifiers are two really big ones. Nebraksa was also on the leading edge of strengh & conditioning, which most have caught up. TV has really pushed college football to another level. There are more teams getting national coverage then there was 20 years ago, so telling a recruit that if he goes to Boise St he wont be on TV, but if he walks on at NU & works hard. He could play for a team that gets national coverage doesn't work anymore. Comparing a recruiting class or a coach 20 years ago to a class or coach today is apples to oranges. Just like it is comparing 9 wins a year 20 years ago to now....
  12. Agree to disagree. There is an obvious correlation between recruiting classes and actual rankings. People can knit pick a team here or team there but the top recruiting teams equal the top teams Since your someone who obviously knows everything about everything, when has Nebraska ever been strong in recruiting? Besides the 2005 year under Callahan, which was not even utilized until Bo got his hands on those guys. You can win championships with a decent recruiting class. It doesn't have to be "Top 10". We have won 5 National Titles without being superior on recruiting. Yes that was over a decade ago, but coaching kids has not changed. The only thing that has changed in the last decade in recruiting, is not giving scholarships to instate kids, like TO did in my opinion. IIRC, the highest recruited kids TO recruited, were the Peters brothers. I wish I could give you more than +1. It's as if people forget that we have very rarely been able to get the best recruits in the country, for the entirerty of Nebraska football. Or expect a first time headcoach to be able to pull off a 5* recruiting class just a month or two into starting a significant rebuilding of a team. http://bigrednetwork.com/story/a_brief_history_of_husker_recruiting_1990-99/

  14. Ask the Florida St Seminoles about top 10 finishes. They are in the top 10 in recruiting every year.....hmmm....geeee.....Are you so sure it's "almost always?" Texas and USC as well. Ask ND, Bama, LSU, Florida, tOSU, Georgia....and USC and Texas are usually top 10. Texas is the biggest underachiever in the history of college football Until this year Norte Dame hasnt been a serious top 10 team for sometime. And Texas hasnt been a top 10 team since McCoy left, and USC wont be a legit top team til kiffin is gone. Idk how many people remember but at the begging of last season Richt Georgia's HC was on the hot seat and most predicted he would lose his job. Last year Florida was something like 7-5 and Meyer had left the year before that because of "health reasons." More like lack of talent since Tebow graduated reasons. So while I do think that recruiting is very important, the ability to recruit players that fit your scheme, and develop your average recruit into a major contributor is way more important. ala Bill Snyder and Tom Osbiorne All of those teams have out recruited and performed us on a regular basis. TO pulled in great classes actually...
  15. He actually was after he fired Callahan and even did some recruiting visits throughout the state. I'm actually coming around to the Saban idea. Of course, it be our luck that we get Miami Dolphin Saban. We have toms only recruit on our roster....never plays and is passed up by walk ons and freshman yearly You do realize that was a big "reconnect" with the state type decision right. But more importantly Micah was healthy this year for the first time since high school. Both knees have been redone I understand all of this. I also understand that it was a wasted scholarship. This is one reason we are not keeping up with the big boys. We hold on to players and let them collect dust when they aren't panning out
  16. From what I understand part of the problem is the University isn't willing to pay the money needed to get better assistants correct? link or links Isn't true at all. Bo is welcome to interview whoever he pleases. If he for example wanted an OC and DC with solid resumes the AD would open the wallet. Bo prefers his buddies that he has for the most part years of experience on....Bo started coaching college ball in 2003...and is a veteran coach on our staff. He seems to shy away from coaches that know a thing or ten Okay so since you say it isn't true we are just supposed to believe you then huh? I distinctly remember hearing that Stoops wanted to come here when he got fired from Arizona to be our D.C. since we were looking for one when Carl left. From what I remember it was said that Stoops was going to demand too much money and we weren't willing to part with that money. This is coming from people who were apparently in "the know." So instead he goes to OU, they pay him $600,000 a year and we get Papuchis at $300,000 a year. Makes ZERO sense IMO, Bo can't be the head coach and the D.C. Beck is working out okay, but he still has moments of complete and utter stupidity, but he's getting better. We need changes at the D.C. position, offensive line position, and maybe the LB position, but I haven't decided on that. We need better coaches in those area and we need to pay them the money they want or more than we are willing to pay if we want this experiment with Bo to work out in the long run. That or we can spend the next 15 years winning 8 to 10 games a year and no conference championships. Believe me or don't nothing I can do in regards to that. Do you really believe we would spend the type of money we do on facilities and our HC only to neglect our ACs??? Think about that, NU wouldn't do that it doesn't make business sense at all.

  18. Do you just hate being a husker fan?? Love it actually! Thanks!
  19. Seriously, get the clown out of here. Thank you for such a lovely post to start the morning out to! You made my day! Keep up the good work! GBR!
  20. Bama hasn't offered yet hope it stays that way
  21. So Bo failed at recruiting for 3 years? He didn't know recruiting high level athletes was the key to his NFL schemes?
  22. The beauty of Webster is he has a great ability to score and create. He can easily play the 1 or 2 no problem. My money is on Biggs starting
